  6. Tournament is this Saturday, the 10th. Flats are still producing nice bass out of the grass.
  7. The Schuylkill has smallies and largemouth in the tidal section. Try and fish around the 2 hours of the tide change, last hour of outgoing, and first of incoming or vice versa. Not a big population of bass, but they are there and catchable. Best tidal action is south on the Upper Chesapeake Bay tidal Rivers, about an hour ride to the Northeast River.
  8. Conowingo has plenty of 1.5 - 2 Lb smallies with occasional 3- 4 pounders. WIth your tin boat you can head up North into the rocks to search out current breaks for the bigger smallies. Most Tournaments there are won with between 10 - 14 pounds , mixed bags smallies and largemouths. From Glen Cove it's around 10 - 12 miles up North into the shallower rocky area near Muddy run, if you are looking for mostly smallmouth. Nuke Plant discharge will also hold fish. Come out and fish the CC Open on August 10th to get a feel for the Flats, that's where you'll have the best shot at decent fish.

  10. Forecasts of almost Gale force winds and 2 days of rain over the Upper Bay kept a lot of boats home. The parking lot at Anchor was nearly empty. The morning was cold in the low 40's, damp and windy, more like early March instead of the end of May but the threat of high winds and muddy water didn't stop 8 teams from plying the Upper bay in search of big bass. Steady 25 mph winds with gusts to 35 + hampered fishing but a couple teams were able to get their limit. The top team of Sean Geerloff and Stan Horne found a few big females, bringing in the winning sack of 5 largemouth for a nice wind driven bag of 18.65 pounds. Second Place and Lunker went to the team of Kevin Gergel and Brian Wishanick with 15.56 pounds and a nice 6.00 lunker. ( just edging out a 5.98 bass of the 3rd place team ) Third place went to the team of James McMillen and John Haselbarth with 3 good bass for 10.72 pounds. 1st - Geerloff - Horne - 5 fish - 18.65 Lbs. - 5.57 Lunker 2nd - Gergel - Wishanick - 5 fish - 15.56 Lbs. - 6.00 Lunker 3rd - McMillen - Haselbarth - 3 fish - 10.72 Lbs - 5.98 Lunker
  11. I've been making that run for 25 years, and unless you found a shortcut across the point LOL, it is just about 7 miles from the no wake at Anchor to Furnace bay. It's 4+ miles from Anchor to Carpenter Point. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5936380
  12. IT actually is not too bad on a Saturday down there. We've had it 3 years now on Memorial Day Saturday and never had a problem. No clubs have tournaments scheduled, so launching in the a.m. is not crowded. The pleasue boaters launch around noon, we finish at 2:30 so you miss the plaesure boat crowd generally

  14. What size /type of boat are you running ? The run to Furnace Bay from Anchor is about 7 - 8 miles down the Northeast and around Carpenter Point. Can be done in a smaller boat no problems if it is not windy. But, throw in a 10 - 15 wind and it can get choppy once you get too far out of the no wake zone in the Northeast ( from the launch, straight out about 400 yards is no wake zone ) https://maps.google.com/?ll=39.591238,-75.947993&spn=0.012617,0.01929&t=h&z=16 No wake goes from the East Point of the creek mouth up top, then draw a straight line down to the North point of the 3rd Canal, everything inside is no wake.
