The bait monkey has been nibbling for a while and today it turned into chomping. I had $80 burning a hole in my wallet so I went and ordered a $70 japanese swimbait with overnight shipping.
I slide a 1oz egg sinker onto 50lb braid, and then I tie a swivel on. Then I tie a 20lb mono leader on about 15" long then a 1/0 circle hook with some hot dog on it. Pretty basic rig but it works.
I use these in every one of my boxes: http://www.***.com/Bullfrog_Anti-Rust_Emitter_Strips_3/descpage-BARES.html
I put tons of hardbaits and hooks away wet and I have never had anything rust since I started using them.
To fix your rusted hooks rub them with sandpaper.
I know how you feel. I barely scratched out a limit today on a shaky head..... took me 4 hours. Fish deep and slow, if your pond has weeds pitch into holes and punch it. Those are the only ways I can catch bass in the summer during the daytime. Night is a whole different game. Noisy topwater baits and spinnerbaits work for me then.
yes. Tie a ball bearing swivel to the end of your line when you go fishing. Put the split ring on something that won't break and let your longest cast length of line out. Close the bail and slowly stretch your line just short of the breaking point. Treat it with conditioner while you slowly reel it back on.
is the pond on private property? If not, the cop had no right to make you leave and whoever called to complain had no right to do that either. If the pond is public, fish on!
I have a few for each season.
Winter- Jerkbait, Hair Jig, Shaky Head
Spring- Crankbait, Swim Jig, Spinnerbait, Swimbait
Summer- Jig, Frog, Fluke
Fall- Lipless Crank, Swimbait, Jig
I'm watching the finale right now. Some of the challenges are pretty entertaining but the whole show is slightly cheesy IMO. Chris reminds me of Iaconelli.
If you are referring to the rage shrimp, it works in fresh water. It is a great c-rig bait. Just be careful to not put them with other plastics- THEY MELT! They are made of elaztech plastic which is super stretchy and durable.
Switch to 17lb straight fluoro for jig fishing. You will be able to get fish out of cover.
Don't use braid with a leader if the leader is fluoro, your knot will break a lot. (Trust me on this one, broke off a 4lber and lost a $12 swimbait because I had a 17lb fluoro leader tied onto 50lb powerpro last week)
Just throw topwaters on a spinning rod with mono.
