  1. that's because you aren't a swimbaiter like vikingbear. Deps makes a 13" worm that is great on a wacky rig if you can get it. Its the kincoo. Does it have to be a stickbait? Uptons customs makes some 9-13" worms that you would do pretty well wacky rigging. Just make sure you get some surgical tubing to slide on the bait. Put the hook through both sides and in the bait to make sure it doesn't rip off from bluegill and dink nibbles.
  2. Before Swimbaits: $500-$800 a year. After- well, I have spent about $300 already and I got into swimbaits 2 months ago.
  3. careful now jeff. If you post any more fish like that wayne might slap you with a hudd while he drives past your house on the way to the airport, LOL!
  4. I always keep my phone charged, and have my gopro and scale in my bag when the day of my PB finally comes. Still waiting.
  5. my mistake. That thing is massive. Let me rephrase that.No such thing as a 12" huddleston in production. I'm sure a few people have them but it would cost a huge chunk of change to buy one.
  6. No such thing as a 12 inch huddleston. The biggest bait I currently throw is 7" and 2oz but I'll be throwing 8" triple trouts and 8" hudds once I get my bigbait setup.
  7. grubs and cranks are not swimbaits. They do not swim. IMHO, a true swimbait is a soft or hard bait that somewhat realistically imitates and/or looks like a fish. A "big bait" to me is 8"+ and over 3oz.
  8. shhhh.... that's MY negotiator
  9. I'm fairly certain the the hook points and barbs were cut off. I can't see how a fish can inhale a bait with 6 needle sharp points and spit it out before you fel anything and set the hook. If you have really sharp hooks then the line tension and the bass turning will bury the hooks.
  10. Here is a short tutorial on how to turn an R.O.F 5 6" Huddleston swimbait into a floater. Step 1: Cut open the belly. Step 2: Remove the weighted insert. Step 3: Cut all of the lead off of the insert. Step 4: Cut the molded in jig hook off of the insert with a pair of cutters. Step 5: Push the insert back into the bait. Step 6: Glue the body back together with Mend-It. Step 7: Attach a split ring and a size 1 treble onto the belly ring (I used an Owner ST-56). Step 8: FISH! When the 6" Huddleston is modified this way, it becomes a great deadstick and surface waking bait. Cast it into prime areas and let it sit. The tail will wobble with wind and wave action. The final product:
  11. I'm thinking somewhere between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2. Regardless of weight, that's a big fish and you should be proud.
  12. if you get one get the floater because your can make it dive about 6 feet if you crank it with the rod tip down or wake it subsurface with the rod tip up. This thing is crazy versatile.
  13. I'm thinking your toothpick is abrading your line. Get some bobber stops.
  14. both. It has a fairly wide s swim at medium to high speeds, but the swim is fairly thin at lower speeds. If you snap your rod it will glide off at a 90 degree angle and keep going about a foot. Its really easy to keep it in the strike zone with a little practice. Its also extremely easy to steer around obstacles. I could cast over a log, snap the bait one direction, and slow it down so the swim was very thin. It would go right around the end of the log, traveling almost 3 feet sideways from where it landed.
  15. none of those! Lol..... I was just reeling fairly fast with the rod tip up. Not burning, just enough to keep it about a foot under the surface. I broke in the jointed claw tonight too. Just a 2lber but it was nice to catch the first fish on it.
  16. Sunglasses Bugspray Smartphone SWIMBAITS
  17. it takes more patience that most types of fishing and I get skunked occasionally when I stick with the hudds but it has a way bigger patience to reward ratio than any other type of fishing.
  18. *topwater swimbaits
  19. Second fish on the 6" Hudd ROF 5. Just big enough to inhale it. 3.7lbs
  20. Are you wacky or texas rigging it? For the wacky rig I use a big hook- a 3/0 gamakatsu finesse widegap. For texas rigging I use a 3/0 EWG.
  21. Dude, you're killin me. STOP CATCHING SO MANY PIGS! Lol, great pics and congrats on the new PB.

  23. As long as they are in your checked bag that goes in the belly of the plane, you will be fine. You just can't have anything in your carry-on.
