+1 on the bitsy bugs. They are awesome when the bass are suspending a few feet off the bottom, and for smallmouth as well. I put either a rage chunk of yamamoto baby craw on my bitsy bugs. Drag, hop, or twitch, depending on what the fish want that day.
no, its not goose creek. look up "bles park" on google maps. its a small offshoot of the potomac. it goes off the main river and connects back a few miles down.
Ooohhh I love threads like these. (I have a flipping addiction)
1: Strike King Rage Hawg
2: Zoom Brush Hog
3: Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver
4: Evolve RX Kompak Craw
5: Rage Tail Space Monkey
Those are my top 5. I always use a 1 oz weight, a green pumpkin flipping skirt, and a 4/0 Gamakatsu flipping hook. If the water is muddy I'll slide that little rubber thing with two rattles from a jig onto my line between the weight and the hook. The weight bangs up against the rattle and it makes a lot of noise.
What do you guys like to use on the potomac in the winter? I fish a small side offshoot with very slow water, and its about 40 feet wide, and maybe 15 feet deep in the middle.
It depends on the hook. I use light wire #1 octopus hooks, so all I do is tighten down and start fighting the fish. With normal hooks you may have to yank a bit
What happens to the bass after weigh-in in most tournaments is not very good. A truck dumps all the fish into the lake at the boat ramp, and quite a few fish die.
no, the bullet weight is pushed all the way into the nose of the tube. I took it a step further and pushed a yanamoto craw into the tube after the weight. This also let me use a larger hook.
thanks! I tested it out today and I caught a 1 pounder on it! The popping action is so cool. The first few times you hop it, bubbles come out of the tube. I can't wait to toss this to some beds in the spring.
