  1. oh ok that sounds fun too. I like playing horse shoes even though I suck at it haha. So how many bass can we keep a day and what is the size requirement?
  2. well my mom works full-time and so does my dad so my mom will probably be in the hotel lobby doing work while we are fishing. She may join us for dinner, idk. If I'm cooking I will need a fryer. I fry my fish in a cornmeal/flour mix with black pepper and old bay. Delicious! What are cornhole boards? Some kind of game? I'd rather play texas hold'em
  3. I don't have a problem eating them. Fried fish is fried fish. If you guys want to chill out and have a few beers I can cook. Its the least I can do to repay the guys taking non-boaters. If it weren't for you guys I wouldn be able to do things like this. I'm also a pretty darn good cook. Here's some tilapia I breaded and fried.
  4. dont rule out cheap stuff just yet. the daiwa db minnow is $6, suspends perfectly, casts like a rocket, durable, good color schemes, and decent hooks. i have tried a LC pointer and the db minnow is 3/4 as good for less than half the price, if not almost on par.
  5. i saw a nice technique in a bassmaster mag for fishing grass. if there are any holes in it, twitch a fluke over it and let it drop into the holes.
  6. hmmmmmm.....i'll have to test that. i was thinking of imitating a stressed, wounded baitfish.
  7. i dont see any reason for it not to be. just gotta suck up for a few weeks beforehand.
  8. we all know that when fish are stressed, they release lactic acid. do you think if you poured soft plastics with lactic acid in the formula the fish would hold on longer? seems like they would think it was live bait and hold on a lot longer.
  9. so do you guys think there will be a decent jig bite? im getting into making my own.
  10. yeah my pb smallie was about 6 ounces LOL. also the only one i have ever caught.
  11. yeah they are quite expensive. i believe manabu kurita caught the current world record on one. (22-5)
  12. alright i'll start using a size 2.
  13. yeah the uni knot is usually all i tie, but it doesnt work one a drop shot because your line doubles back and comes out parallel to the main line. with a clinch knot the tag end is at the base so you can put it down through the eyelet. also, don't use a clinch knot for braid or fluorocarbon, it slips easily. but yeah that uni-knot is easy to tie and nearly unbreakable. 99% of line strength or something like that.
  14. you will love them. so much action and pretty durable, you get at least 10 fish per bait when nose hooked.
  15. thats odd. i have the 6" and 4" roboworms and whenever i use them on a drop shot the tail doesnt float. it could be my hook? im using a 1/0 gamakatsu weedless wacky with the weedguard cut off. i tie a clinch knot and run the tag end down through the eyelet. i really must get some swivelshot hooks.
  16. Jigs, Jigs, and more jigs. im starting on making my own and i love using jigs, they are just so versatile. if i get into it enough i might start a jig/soft plastic company. i have a few sweet designs i need to get some molding clay and plaster of paris to make molds for. also the big bite baits warmouth. they should absolutely SLAUGHTER to cruising fish in the ponds i fish. in the summer these 18-25" fish just cruise around the shoreline and they are so easy to catch on live bluegills. i know thats not very sportsmanlike so im not doing that anymore. anyways, back to the warmouths. weightless on a 3/0 EWG hooks. twitch to the surface like a dying bluegill trying to escape, let it slowly sink. WHAM!
  17. PTL finicky ticklers or jp hammer shads. neutral buoyancy so they dont drop the tail like roboworms. they just sit there level when you are not shaking them.
  18. well I already have the medium action one..... I'm going to be throwing 1/2 oz jigs and up to 2oz swimbaits.....I would rather get the heavy action.
  19. X2. Actually makes me pretty mad because with my budget, my 2 combos cost about $100 together. (Spinning and baitcast)
  20. Hey everyone, I am getting tired of my current spinning setup and I want another baitcasting combo. My current setups- 1: 6'6" medium berkley lighting rod, 7.1:1 gear ratio daiwa takara reel, 20lb powerpro 2: 6' medium ugly stik, crappy $15 3.6:1 gear ratio red shakespeare reel, 14lb nanofil The spinning setup is complete junk and I am going to use it as a panfishing rod. What I am looking at: 7' 6" heavy abu garcia vengeance casting rod, 7.1:1 daiwa laguna. 7' medium abu garcia vengeance spinning rod, 6.4:1 shimano sedona. Do you think those setups are good for my needs? My current baitcast setup is for thowing cranks, texas rigs, carolina rigs, spinnerbaits etc. My spinning is used for shaky heads, some smaller cranks, and small tubes and craws. I will be replacing my spinning rod with the new combo, and the new baitcast combo for fishing, swimbaits, jigs, punching, and other heavy bait techniques. I have already decided one the rods and reels, my question is more about the actions and gear ratios. I cannot afford more expensive combos.
  21. Wow how far behind am I? I have been recording it the the 3rd elimination round is recording right now. I'm watching the first elimination round and let me just say, aaron martins in quite the pessimist. He got himself down and he was eliminated because of that.
  22. http://fishingskirts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98&products_id=982&zenid=07753828210fbbfa1d0ba128e62a8b51 meant for a skirt band but you could easily wire tie on it.
  23. You guy think you have it rough? My mom thinks my POS ugly stik spinning combo 3.6:1 gear ratio and my berkley lighting rod with a daiwa takara is enough! She wouldn't let me buy more than 5 combos, and she restricts my tackle to what I can fit in a backpack!
  24. Looks pretty good. If it has good action and the powerbait scent I see no reason not to ry it out. Looks good for the alabama rig.
  25. x2. I went out for a few hours yesterday with my friend just practicing our pitching/flipping and messing with our tackle and the ducks.
