  1. Alright thanks guys. I'll deal with it until I get a job in march and I can afford a better reel hah.
  2. i figure throw something as loud as possible. ex chartreuse chatterbait with a rage tail bait on it.
  3. What do I use to oil the bearings? Does wd40 work?
  4. he is wire tying it.
  5. Bobby uhrig will probably get you a new one, but you could just put a small, stout 2/0 or 3/0 trailer hook on and bend the broken hook over. Put a small 4" grub on the trailer hook and you'll get them on it most of the time. Fish mostly always go for the back of something unless they completely inhale it. (Or if they just bump it)
  6. Loving these baits steve. I picked up a pack in green pumpkin gold and purple flake on my last TW order and they are sick. I love the way they plane up when you twitch them. The legs have a really nice subtle kicking action. I can't wait to dredge some points with these on a carolina rig in the spring. Rigging: Sideways-1/0-4/0 EWG, texas rigged or weightless Vertical- 1/4 oz 4/0 weighted hook, fish like a swimbait or hop it off the bottom. Might be other ways that I haven't discovered yet. Jig trailer? Not so much. I put on on a jig and the hook slot kinda lumped up around the hook and made a weird profile. I think the menace will do better.
  7. nope.....like all rage tail baits, they are salted and sink slowly by themselves. However, if you rig this bait right it will plane up.
  8. Pssshhhh, that's a dink! My personal smallest was a 3 ouncer on a 2" grub while fishing for white perch!
  9. Hey everyone, my daiwa takara is a bit rough on the retrieve. It makes a tiny grinding noise sometimes. Does it just need to be oiled?
  10. Well, one bait is not even going to cover half the conditIons you will run into.....but if I had to pick one bait it would be a 5" watermelon senko weightless T-rigged on a 3/0 EWG. Fish will bite it as well as a wacky rig, but it sinks faster, you can fish it faster, you can skip it under docks, and it casts further than a wacky rigged senko.
  11. ah well. I tried.
  12. Disclaimer: I have never seen one of those before or heard anything about it.
  13. I will. I can't wait for the spawn to test it out. Oops, this got moved to tackle making. Sorry mods! Won't happen again. EDIT: hmmmm.......back in fishing tackle.......odd.
  14. Check this out. I have been wanting a stand-up finesse jig for the longest time, but I could not find a 1/4 oz jig with a light wire hook for the life of me, so I decided to improvise. I took a perfect watermelon skirt off a dirty jigs flipping jig, and put in on a 1/4 megastrike shakeE2 head. It provides the action I want out of a jig with the stand-up capabilities of the shaky head. I am using a PTL Craw D'oeurve as a trailer. What do you think?
  15. Any swimming fish is a "real" fish, unless it is made of plastic. with your requirements, my first "real" fly rod fish would be a beautiful 13" brown trout from the Madison river.
  16. HAH! I just got a haircut.
  17. My PB back in 2010 More recent, this was on Thanksgiving My 4 year old Golden/Border Collie mix in the garden 7 months of happiness so far with my beautiful girlfriend. So yeah, that's a bit of me/family.
  18. yeah I'm stocking up on rage toads, SK pure poisons (best chatterbait IMHO), and bronzeye hollow bellies. Maybe a few kvd 2.5's as well.
  19. should I have a punch setup rigged in case we run into a scenario when they don't want to blow up on a frog?
  20. Also one of my resolutions. What I am starting with. (Making my own) 16 1/2 oz black brush jigheads, 16 1/2 oz bluegill swim jigheads, 4 black 1/2 oz football jigheads, and a Skirt tying kit (comes with rattles, the skirt rings, skirt making tool, and skirting material.) Then I'm getting skirt material is a few other colors.
  21. AHAHAHA THAT IS AMAZING! Please do post the video.
  22. I don't know about the td's but the new db's are great. Good hooks, durable, great paint schemes, they suspend perfectly, and they are only $7 each.
  23. haha those are great. I will refrain from the last one because my fishing buddies and I are all on a rather tight budget.
  24. I put a banana in my buddy's tackle box. He's a little superstitious so when he went digging for a trick worm he freaked out a little haha. What was the best prank you have played on someone or have been the victim of?
  25. Don't mix elaztech baits with other plastics. Other than that you're good.
