  1. I did something one time a bit mean in hindsite, but I felt it was justified. A foreign couple were at a pond I fish hauling bluegill into a bucket. They had 5 already and I felt that was enough, so I gave them a "tip." I bent the hook behind the barb 90 degrees and told them they would hook more. LOL
  2. We all know who those are.......the ones who sit on the shore with a stringer for hours catching their dinner, and keep every single fish they catch regardless of size or species. What do you think of them? They make me pretty mad honestly and I try to make them catch less fish to protect the pond's ecosystem.
  3. Please don't eat bass. Nobody likes a bucket bass fisherman. Catch yourself some crappie and have a fish fry. CPR. Catch, Photograph, Release.
  4. Just made my order, can't wait!
  5. Thanks for all your help everyone. I convinced his mom to take him to DSG with a list of necessary items today. Now I get to go fishing and he gets the proper stuff.
  6. oh, I see! That makes sense. Any idea of why it was grunting?
  7. alright man that's a good idea. I will do that. Thanks for helping me out.
  8. that's nice of you man but I wouldn't take free stuff unless I won it and I think he would feel the same.
  9. I took a middle school-aged friend fishing today. He brought the following items. An 8' surfcasting ugly stik with a massive spinning reel on it spooled with tangled mono. He had the following rigged up. A 6" zoom lizard nosehooked on a snelled eagle claw hook with a bobber 6" from the lure. That's all he had. When I told him that wouldn't work, he asked to use my lures. I tied on a senko for him, and his line promptly snapped on his first cast, sending my senko and $1 wacky jig flying. I didn't want to lose any more lures at this point so I just rerigged the lizard and buried the point so he wouldn't hook me, himself, or any trees. What should I do? I barely have enough lures for myself and I can't have them getting lost because he can't fish to save his life. To make it worse, he apparently told his mom that he had a ton of fun. She CALLED me asking if I could take him tommorow. I was planning to go to the river to catch a few fish on a jig. I would have to be constantly helping him and losing my lures because he has no tackle. HELP ME PLEASE!!!
  10. Realism doesn't matter to a fish IMHO. They see a bait going by and attack it because it is getting away most of the time. I think the extreme realism of livetarget lures is a bit of a gimmick, but they are definitely VERY high quality, well-designed lures. They do as advertised, and the finish is very tough. Good hooks too.
  11. can't call now because I'm in a pep rally at school, but I'm pretty sure the facebook code was a 20% discount. I'd rather use that.
  12. Can I use two codes? I won your facebook contest, so can I get jigs 40% off? Lol
  13. Need more info. Water clarity? Water temp? Bottom composition? (Ex. Mud, rock, etc.) Most of all, find the vegetation and you will find fish. Try a small shallow crank. If you get a bite and miss a fish, slow down and throw a wacky senko.
  14. Is this the DSG at the sterling mall? I was there last weekend and they had 5+ packs of blue bug rage craws. I bought a pack. Maybe they sold out.
  15. muddy is muddy, period. Jerkbaits are mainly for clear water, ESPECIALLY that color. When it rains and the water gets muddy and rises, fish head for cover. Last time I checked, treble hooks and wood do not mix.
  16. Muddy water fishing is all about cover. Tie these lures on. 1. Black and blue flipping jig 2: chartreuse spinnerbait Flip the newly flooded brush and the cover that the fish usually hold in. Run the spinnerbait around cover, bang it off stumps, etc. A chatterbait will also work well for this. Good luck, and have fun.
  17. Hey, that looks familiar! Gotta love the black and blue jig! Congrats on your first bass in a long time! Keep fishing that and you'll get one like this! (My best today)
  18. Alright thanks guys. That's what I was thinking it was. Kinda odd. I felt a few ticks and set the hook, and he got hooked in the side like that.
  19. IROOGFMD Guess!
  20. Great hour and a half on an offshoot of the potomac. Caught some on a black and blue jig, just slowly dragging it. Snagged a catfish that swam over my line as well. 2 questions. How big do you think the biggest fish was? I'm guesstimating 2.5-3 pounds but a few people on facebook are saying 2. What species of catfish is this? He was grunting like crazy when pulled him up.
  21. Just saw a pic on facebook of a pike with its left bottom lip hanging from the corner of its mouth, teeth and all. No boga grips for this guy.
  22. Give the gamakatsu's another try. I have 3 packs and the only issue with the keeper coming loose was when I wrenched a snell knot off with pliers. I'm pretty sure they fixed it.
  23. If it's always like that I really don't think it's worth fishing. If it is usually stained, try these methods: Flip and pitch a black and blue jig to the new flooded structure, as well as the places bass hold when the water is at normal level, or bang a spinnerbait or chatterbait across a stump field.
  24. I keep it pretty simple. Rage craws when I need action, and Powerteam lures craw d'oeurves, conviction craws, and diesel craws when the bass want something a little more subtle.
  25. It's basically a subsurface walking bait like the rapala subwalk and a few of the livetarget saltwater lures.
