  1. Stand back from the bank about 20 feet. If that fails skip a shiner colored fluke right on top of them, it might trigger a bite.
  2. Another: Two blondes were fishing by the river and a game warden came up and asked them what are you doing...well we are fishing he asked them for there fishing license and they stated we don't have one and he said let me see your lines so they pulled them up and and they had magnets on the end of the line..hmm well there is nothing wrong with that if you want to clean up the lake. As the game warden walked off one blonde said to the other one stupid game warden does he not know there are steel head in the river...
  3. Ever notice how the number of UFO sightings has gone down now that most people have a camera phone these days?
  4. I got a double up on 1 pound bluegills in the potomac a few years ago on a little blue fox firetiger crank. Never had it with bass though.
  5. Just had a blast fishing for a few hours from sundown until well into the night. I caught around 20 bass and 2 pumpkinseeds. All of the fish were under a pound and a half due to an extreme overpopulation. However, it does make a good practice pond and it is the only place I fish during winter because I am guaranteed to not get skunked. My main lures were: *Soft Plastic Jerkbait *Tube *Spook *Buzzbait Got my first fish on a buzzbait, but it wasnt a bass! Crazy pumpkinseeds! Nice one on a spook. Here is some video shot before the sun went down, fishing with soft jerkbaits.
  6. go for it. the worst that can happen is that they say no. from what i have heard about creme, you have to be pretty active through social media to be considered for pro staff. add a bunch of people who fish on facebook and make a youtube channel. if they say no at first, buy their baits and catch fish with them. post pics of the fish caught with the baits on their wall and get to know the owners. good luck.
  7. that is literally my worst nightmare. i am so scared that someday i will dredge up a body. is it unlikely? yes. would i need therapy for a year? probably.
  8. Is that the Art Berry P.B. rat? If so they call it that for a reason.
  9. For more info refer to Glenn's video about this rig.
  10. The mojo rig is awesome for both suspended and bottom fish. I throw a 4" tube 16" up from a 1/16 or 1/8 oz weight depending on depth and what the bottom is like. If the bottom is vegetation I use the 1/16 because it sits right on top of the weeds. I throw it on spinning gear with 10lb braid and a fluoro leader. Bait selection is pretty much whatever you want. I usually throw tubes, finesse worms, and flukes but you could use something like a brush hog, beaver, craw, etc depending on your local forage. Floating, nonsalted baits are important to me for this rig because they dart and glide much better than a salted bait. The mojo weights are really good because they are nearly impossible to snag and the elongated design helps them sit on top of moss or any kind of vegetation that would ruin other presentations. To fish the rig, slowly drag it a few inches at a time with your rod tip, reel down to a tight line, wait a few seconds, then drag again. This is a finesse tactic and takes a bit of patience but if fish are stacked up you can quickly get a limit because if they see it, they'll usually bite it.
  11. Thanks guys. I'll run around cranking and jigging points. If I don't get a bite doing that I'll hit the banks and work the reedlines with a frog.
  12. The stock hooks on the KVD squarebills are ok but you do lose some fish. I swap them out with the KVD triplegrips. The wide gap design really keeps them buttoned. I'm using a medium action spinning rod with 10lb mono. As mentioned before, smallmouth have tougher jaws so you may have to set the hook harder.
  13. are you sure the treble hooks used in the video were not dulled or ground on purpose for the film to show how fast a bass can eat and spit out a bait? I just can't get my head around how they would spit 6 needle sharp hooks that penetrate with a few ounces of pressure.
  14. Just looked that up on youtube. Pretty funny. I remember the time a guy fishing gave me a few senkos. I caught a 3 pounder on the first cast with one, hooked me on fishing for life. I can't wait until I have the money to pay stuff like that back.
  15. I'm not a shimano fanboy at all. I own 3 reels-a daiwa, a shimano, and a shakespeare. I'm simply going off my experiences. However, I did not know that the exo was aluminum. That's definitely something to consider when buying an expensive reel (durability).
  16. I throw a spinnerbait and a black worm or tube at night. Be ready to get slammed. Either tonight or tommorow is the full moon and the bass are gonna be on fire. I'm going out tonight.
  17. Sent them this email:(Dear Abu Garcia, My 3-month old Veritas rod recently broke on a regular hookset. I have never abused the rod or banged it into anything. It snapped right in front of the first guide from the tip guide. The model is the 7' 6" MH. I would like to request a warranty replacement of the rod. Included is a picture of the break, rod identification number, and proof of purchase. I bought it at Dick's Sporting Goods in march. Please reply back as soon as possible with information about what can be done. Thank you for your time.) I attached a picture of the rod break, my reciept, and the rod identification number. Do you think they'll send me a new one?
  18. I'll try that before I ship the rod, thanks.
  19. My caenan does this but it doesn't affect my fishing at all. Love that reel.
  20. I just use my cheap phleuger 6wt with a 10lb mono leader, lol. Works great for little bass and bluegill thowing little nymphs and wolly buggers. It was only $60 for the rod and reel and line. Casts about 30 feet.
  21. Thank God, I found the reciept! Scanned and printed a copy of it and I'll mail the rod to abu along with the warranty form, the $9.95 check, and the reciept copy. I hope they send me a new rod, I actually really like it. I think I just had bad luck.
  22. I'm hopefully going to be taking my new kayak out on this reservoir in Ashburn, VA very soon. Anyone that fishes this place have any input? I know shimmy fishes it often. Areas to currently focus on and baits to use?
  23. I throw crankbaits in ponds from february to april, usually an orange belly craw KVD 1.0 on 10lb fluoro and spinning gear. I would throw it more but there are too many weeds now.
  24. I think we'll be eating quite a few snakehead fillets. I'll bring some sausages for the grill as well.
