  1. If you don't like it then don't throw it.
  2. So its a neko rig. Make sure you use a wacky saddle or piece of elastic tubing to put your hook through so if you get a short bite you don't lose the nail weight and worm.
  3. Where are they inserting the nail weight? Neko rig? Tail weighted for a backwards fall? Middle for a horizontaly falling T-rig?
  4. Is that pic of the "4lber"? Not trying to crush your dreams but that fish is not over a pound and a half.
  5. They always shrink when they go on the scale. nice fish.
  6. Big hard swimbaits and punching. Spool a reel up with 65lb braid and go to town.
  7. I'm thinking a little under 3lbs because you're holding it at full arm's length... don't do that.
  8. Use the new uncle josh meat stuff....... it doesn't dry out because it has no rind.
  9. After using both braid and fluoro for jig fishing, I have noticed that fluorocarbon seems to help distinguish between what is rocks, vegetation, wood, and fish better than braid does. When fishing straight braid it is hard for me to tell if my bait is hitting cover or if it's a fish, but I can tell if it's a fish very easily with fluoro. Has anyone else experienced this?
  10. Try pegging your weight. You'll be able to distinguish bites better.
  11. Punching. Use a heavy rod, 50-80lb braid, a 1- 2oz weight, and a heavy duty straight shank flipping hook. Slide a bobber stop on, then your weight, then snell the hook. Put on a compact bait like a craw or beaver and slide the bobber stop down to the weight so it has a little wiggle room next to the bait. Flip it right into the mat, let it hit the bottom, then lift it up until it bangs the bottom of the mat, then let it drop again. I do this 3 to 5 times depending on how agressive the fish are. Most of the bites won't feel like anything- your bait will just stop on the way up. When this happens, set the hook hard and keep the pressure on the fish until it exits the mat.
  12. My two that I have accomplished so far were to catch fish by pitching jigs and consistently hook and land fish on frogs. I have caught 30+ bass in the past 2 months pitching jigs and my ability to wait on setting the hook with a frog has definitely improved. My next goal is to stick a 6+ pounder on a swimbait.
  13. I started jig fishing with braid and after I tried fluoro I prefer the fluoro. The slack line sensitivity is what makes it so good and I think it is easier to distinguish between what is rock/wood/weeds with fluoro. Make sure to use at least a MH or H rod that is at least 7'. I still use braid in thick weed cover.
  14. LOL I was going to get an 8" Hudd but decided I would give the 6" a try first after seeing the $28 price tag on the 8".
  15. Took advantage of the TW sale and ordered a few things I need plus a few goodIes (swimbaits). 16. Got a 6" ROF 5 Silver/Green in my TW order today. Was gonna get a 68 weedless but I needed other stuff. Also got a decoy hydra tail which is basically a 5" 68 special (big fat tail). Got that in a bluegill color.
  17. Were you reeling down on the fish and then setting? If not you have to do that. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you were probably setting on a slack line and not getting the barb in them good enough.
  18. The rocket is going to be killer for flipping and pitching.
  19. Enjoy the fireworks everyone. Happy 4th.
  20. The 2 that come to mind are the shaky head and cranking in general, maybe chatterbaits too. The ponds I fish are just ufriendly to those techniques.
  21. gotcha. I hadn't even considered the idea that someone might actually try to bend back a straightened hook.
  22. If you can afford it go for the premium fluoros like Sunline Sniper or Gamma Edge. Some other good ones that are slightly cheaper are P-line, Seaguar, and Bass pro shops XPS fluoro. Just stay away from anything berkley when it comes to fluoro IMHO.
  23. Did the line snap or did the knot unravel? Check for a little curl at the end of the line. If it is there your knot failed. Try a uni-knot or palomar. Other than that, everything I have heard about that fluoro is bad. Supposedly it breaks extremely easily. Get some good fluoro. I use 17lb for jig fishing.
  24. Senkos, texas rigs, cranks, and flukes. Get a 7:1 reel and spool it up with 14lb fluoro.
  25. SHHHH!!!! Killer for ripping through hydrilla.
