  1. In before the lock
  2. Well think about it. It got many haters talking about it right? That's the power of advertising and marketing. When the Revo 3's came out they didn't claim to revolutionize the game but they came out with a bang. Advertising everywhere making countless YouTube clips. Google up Salmo Whacky and Wigglefin. They have similar action but I bet most people hear never heard of them. Sometimes the subtle approach doesn't help your company. Many times these smaller companies just doesn't have the resource to spend that much money of marketing but if they did I bet they would.
  3. I think people are taking the "revolutionize fishing" words too seriously. It's a marketing slogan to get your attention. Just like BMWs claim of the ultimate driving machine. Is it really? Anyways this erratic action is not new. The Imakatzu Waddle Bat is kings of erratic. I have 2 but waiting for spring to try it. Cost is ridiculous but I guess my curiousity made my bite. There's also the Salmon whacky that swims just like the scattered rap. I think in regions in Europe this is not new. Googles these up if you haven't heard of them.
  4. I'd get the Cumura since the sale is going on. Think about it, after you use it and feel like you don't like it you can still sell it and not even lose any money since you got 25% off. Might even make some money. By then the TW sale will be long gone and you know Shimano stuff rarely go on sale.
  5. I'm still surprise people keep saying rapalas break. I have just started bass fishing but before that I was fishing rivers a lot. I have always used shad raps and bang them off rip raps and rocks/gravel. Never had one break. I have used KVD cranks for a year and had one break on me and not to mention the red eye shad LC paints chip like no other. Yet SK gets all the love and I bet KVD himself is part of the reason. That just shows you the power of marketing and sponsorship. But I will not preorde these. I find it amusing they are making it like its limited. Soon enough it'll be all over in my fleet farm store. I will buy some and try it.
  6. Just saw a video on these Rapalas. Not even close as erratic action as the Waddel bat cranks. Still I think it should work. I don't know, Rapalas durability to me seems no different than strike kings cranks but SK seems to not get bad rep. Maybe it's just me.
  7. I hope the action is as nice as the JDM Ima Waddel Bats. YouTube it if you don't know what I'm talking about. However like all JDM lures they are expensive at $20-25 a piece. I would cry if a Northern Pike cuts off my line and runs off with it. So I will try these Rapala out. I'm sure in right conditions they should work.
  8. Dude there's many choices for reels that are for cranking. Have you checked out TW? Their site IMO is the best and easier to navigate around. I don't like using basspro site.
  9. I subscribe to their email list so if I see anything ill let ya know.
  10. Bummer I went in TW forums and a rep said they will not have a Presidents' Day sale. However they are working on a sale but did not disclose. Been waiting to get three more rods!!!
  11. What kind of deals do they normally have for this sale? Is it a xxx % off or just selected items will be on sale? Also when is it?
  12. I think the real problem with some smaller lakes/ponds are the passionate fishermen. Many of them keep trophy bass and release anything not trophy in their minds. They think these little buggers will one day be a trophy while taking all the trophies. They are just stunting the bass population. When some people bring legal size bass home to eat they look down at them like the people that are keeping bass are lower class.
  13. After reading the reviews I went with a *** Black. Winter here so haven't tested yet. Guys on other forums that owns Gloomis, daiwa, Dobyns are really impress with these rods so that says something considering how brand loyal some of these guys are that spends big bucks on gears. Check out the reviews on tackletour and just google it. It's only $100. Again I don't know if its good until spring time comes but chances are they should be good.
  14. From my experience when starting out just buy some cheaper cranks, you'll be sure to lose a few from snags unless you get a lure retriever. Cheap cranks works too, just don't last as long or have cheaper hooks. My suggestion; Lipless - red eye shad or rippin rap both in 1/2 oz Shallow crank - KVD square bill 1/2 oz Jerk bait - lucky E Strike Rick clunn knock off. With these it won't break the bank, you learn how to fish it, and you won't dive into the lake searching for that $15-25 JDM lure.
  15. Google wacky-o-tool. I use that to wacky rig my senkos. This helps the senkos last a lot longer. You can use rubber bans instead of O-rings if you like. Use a weightless weedless hook for shallow water. If fishing deeper water I like a weedless hook with a built in weight. Up north the vegetation is crazy and weedless hooks are a must in most lakes. Maybe it's my imagination but red hooks works a lot better for me. That's the only way to use senkos.
  16. A suggestion can only help a specific cause, it can't save the world of all wrongs.
  17. Ok I don't know it all or try to pretend I do but last night I was just thinking of an idea on how to preserve big bass. I have not yet caught a trophy bass in my eyes yet so I can't really speak on what I would do. I know that some people would rather have the real fish mounted, and some would rather release and get a fiberglass replica. Both are not cheap either which may be a good thing otherwise people would mount too many fish. With the DNR spending so much money in some regions stocking up fish and just researching I had this idea. What if the DNR help pay for a portion of your mounts if you do a replica. Maybe a rebate or maybe you get the discount right away and then the taxidermy can file their claims and get reimburse for their losses. This will encourage people to do replicas over real with knowing it is cheaper. To keep it from getting out of control maybe set a weight minimum. Like the record Bass in MN is 8 pounds. Set it at minimum of 6.75 for example. Any fish over 6.75 pounds is qualify for the discount replica program. I may be way off in my thinking but its worth a suggestion. Let me know your thoughts.
  18. Yeah I think I forgot that a med light will help with casting distance light tackle and split shot, hook, and minnow is a light as it gets. Thanks I will get med light. Now the hardest part is I have to wait until Spring to actually get to do a review lol.
  19. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After everyday researching the best I can I have decided to go this route. *** *** Black 7'1 med light Shimano Symetry 2500 I have read nothing but great things about the *** Black. Even guys using high end rods like Daiwa and Gloomis loves the rod. My only question would be med light or medium? Smallies put up a heck of a fight and in MN you'll always get bonus Northens. Can someone explain why you prefer med light over medium? I have never had a medium light rod ever.
  20. Anyone know the next big sale event of the year for these major retail online shops like TW, BPS, BTD ect. I have narrowed down what I plan to buy for the next season and I estimate my purchase will be around $500-$800. Would be great to buy it all at when they offer 20% off again. I couldn't go for it during the holidays as my wife and I have many many nieces and nephews to buy presents for. I did manage to get two setups during that time but I'm planning to get at least 3 more setups. Thanks.
  21. Lose my gut. I was once pretty d**n fit. Now bending over to grab a bass is a challenge in its own. My belly is always in the way of bending down haha.
  22. Thanks for the input. Casting distance is something I really like to increase on what I got. Where I fish for smallies they only bite minnows. So a split shot, hook, and minnow is the setup. Can't sling it with all you got because the minnow will fly off the hook. Sweet spot sometime is just a bit out of reach.
  23. Yeah I don't think scbassin read the thread lol. I'm talking Minnesota cold here. Today high was 18 and low will be 3 degrees. About to go ice fishing next weekend though.
  24. I have just started to get serious about fishing. Have a bunch of nice reels, rods, and soft plastics recently. Unfortunately winter is upon us and I can only stare at them. Normally I just keep everything in my unheated garage. Temps can get below zero at nights. So I have been paranoid lately and moved all my reels and plastics inside. Am I over thinking or is it better to keep them out of freezing temps?
  25. $75 for Citica G.......I have no affiliation with this guy just passing it along. I am a lefty so I have to pass up on this sweet deal. http://racine.craigs...3374520658.html
