  1. In an attempt to quickly fire off a cast at schooling bass, I hooked the back of a seat .
  2. Nope, I havent seen them. In my home town there is not much to choose from and I rarely order. I might be visiting a Sheels soon and will pick out a hook there.
  3. I imagine everybody loses some fish on a Texas rig . Lately I have missed more than usual. It might be operator error and not the hooks . Anyway . I'm ready to try something different. I've only been using offset hooks since the 1970'S
  4. If you can identify the thermocline you can also identify the depth a large population of the baitfish are relating to. The thermocline will be the max depth I fish but the depth ,in my case, shad are holding is where I concentrate.
  5. ... I'm going to have to go with straight shanks. What ones do you fellows recommend to use with texas rigged 5 inch stick baits? I prefer thin wires over heavy wire flipping hooks.
  6. I use a 3/4 oz weight to work quickly and target a depth. I'll look for baitfish in open water to see what depth they are mostly in , then thats the depth I concentrate on . I fish large flats quickly that way . It was often not productive. I dont do it much anymore . The forward facing sonar guys are much more efficient.
  7. This is my most prized bait . I had two lost one in a tree. This one does hunt , doesnt have a lot of action , no rattles and bass choke on it. Its a vintage Rogers Big Jim , the small size.
  8. I wear it most of the time .I have Arthritis caused by an old injury. This was made by taking a cast of my foot. It helps immensely. Expensive but insurance covered much of it.
  9. Caught a 4 lb even today . Five foot deep , mouth of a cove using a Texas rigged Yum Dinger , Junebug. Lots of smaller fish on Dingers, a small soft plastic swimbait and neds.
  10. I'm not trying to copy Cavitron, I dont need no stinking holes. LOL Once I was buzzbaiting at night and kept getting hits but missing them . I got the bright idea to bend the wires so the bait would ride a little deeper. I started catching them . Now I do it to all my buzzers.
  11. I use a Do-It mold and bend the wire similar to the Cavitron . The blade and rivet are tuned squeaky loud before assembly . No breaking in needed.
  12. I like mine best.
  13. I'm an 8 to 12 hour fisherman but not two days in a row. If I'm on vacation for a week or more , I'll fish every day on and off.
  14. I wear a wrist support when bowling , if i needed one for fishing thats what I'd choose.
  15. To me flats are large areas of gently sloping bottom . I like to fish the edges where they drop in deeper water .Never caught much on the drop itself but on top of the flat close to the drop . Then of course any cover will also hold fish. I fish them shallow and deep.
  16. I've had a a slew of Abu's including a 2500c that was purchased from J.C. Penny's when they sold sporting goods. I must have got a bad one . It was the worse casting reel I ever used.
  17. f the water is routinely muddy , bass are acclimated and will have no trouble finding whatever lure is used . If there is a rip rap dam bass can usually be found there. Various bottom hugging lures will work .
  18. I even do it in places where swimming is not allowed . I need to cool off, I'm cooling off.
  19. Lunkers!
  20. I bought an inshore Okuma 7' mh for bass fishing, liked it a lot and bought three more.
  21. Brush, I almost always go with a Texas rigged something . I cannot work a crankbait through brush . I dont know how others do it.
  22. Some people are just not into it like us weirdos.
  23. I fish whatever is easier for me.
  24. I never was a long haired hippy freak but it got over my ears and collar.. Thats me back row second from left .
