  1. Welcher and Cobb both fished great down the stretch. I bet on Cobb the past two events.
  2. I'm always refining my Texas rigging . Its never ending . Thats the hook I'm using now. I put some bobber stops on the shaft and slipped them up to the bend. Supposedly that will hold the worm in position not allowing it to slide down . Havent tried it yet but rigged up.
  3. I made pretty much this exact comment a year or two back.
  4. I'm far from a rookie but not trying to keep up , equipment wise, with modern anglers either. I'm pretty good at some things and other things I have not even tried.
  5. Green Pumpkin was not my most productive color but I know it is one of the best colors because of how popular it is . I ran out of june bug and bama bug and the stores are out locally . I have been throwing green pumkin a lot lately and its been producing well . I still like to run a chartreuse marker down its back. I do that to almost 100 percent of worms now days . I like the two tone effect and I think the garlic might help a little too.
  6. I dont know where the bass are going to be in the fall. I have caught boat loads in the back of creeks , deep on points and everywhere in between .
  7. A lake I'm familiar with then I know where bass have been in the past. Dont know what I will change first, it depends on why I feel bass are not biting. I'll probably work cover more thoroughly.
  8. https://www.bassmaster.com/bassmaster-classic/news/daily-limit-pirch-still-trying-to-make-sense-of-grisly-event/ Crazy
  9. Does anybody have Bryant smith?
  10. I use brasso . A lot of times I use a tarnished blade ,especially around bream beds . The flash is muted. Dont know if it makes a difference or not but bluegills dont flash .
  11. I've been using a 3.0 Gammy offset with a Dinger. I stick it on the opposite side of the slit and stop when I barely feel it sticking through . I've been hooking them pretty good that way.
  12. Cobb Felix Ito Foutz Pipken I hope Foutz is well. If I hear other wise I'll change to Mullins.
  13. The field is catching up fast with the FFS guys. They wont be dominating much longer when everyone is efficient with it. It was reported that Tacu and Fujita have transducers made for large craft that cost several thousand dollars . Sure am glad I'm not trying to keep up with these guys.
  14. Easy. If I want to catch fish with soft plastic worms, use some sort of purple dominated color like June Bug , BamaBug... If I want to experiment, use other colors.
  15. I got on a big worm bite two years ago which was great because I had a few packs of big worms that have been gathering dust. There were Berkley power worms, Ring worms and a couple of packs of unknown worms . I went through them all , the bass had no preference. I was fishing them in sunken brush piles. Sadly that lake underwent a fish kill last year.
  16. I love it. How hard is it to find the loop with the hook?
  17. In my life I have I had just a few cranks with the right stuff. Today I just have one that I feel is a superior bait. I might have more but cranks have not got a lot of playing time the past several years.
  18. I never used the Ozark Trail lures. That lipless bait has tempted me. Its a good looking lure.
  19. I didnt have a net so thought that was my best option . I wanted to land it.
  20. I usually buy one of those subs from Wal Mart , slice it in thirds and put in zip lock bags. That bread doesnt get soggy like sliced white bread unless the bag is leaking. Also some granola bars , water , a "Mountain Dew" and three or four beers. I'm fishing for a minimum of 8 hours. I have to eat to keep the blood sugar from bottoming out. I'm hypoglycemic.
  21. I just choose one , sometimes there is no reason for it. I've been fishing rip rap a lot with neds because I have a ziplock bag full of half Dingers , so I may as well use them up . Small tubes would work well too. You are on the right track in choosing baits. Think about what you are fishing and what lures will perform well there. There will always be several .
  22. The one I put the fish grips on was in that size range. My hand is healing up nicely.
  23. I have a pack of Dingers that I think are factory seconds. They are deformed , the slot crooked on some of them and they are line twisting punks. Thats the only pack of Dingers I have had like that .Oh well , they can still be used as neds .
  24. I've had turtles eat fish off stringers before. I dont believe this was a turtle .The fish were only there a few minutes . One was gone the others shredded by something that had teeth.
  25. Mine wasnt as big as that monster maybe 2/3. Its hard to speculate . I got a good look at several times. I caught two years ago about 35 inches and weighed around 8 lbs. They were long and skinny. This fish was a lot bigger. I have a large net that I bought after hooking a big sturgeon two years ago . I was on a steep bank and could not land that fish either. I'm going to start taking it . Just didnt think I needed it for bass fishing.
