  1. Thanks Glen, you have a great site, and a nice group of followers. You have made our lives a little more enjoyable. Thanks again!.
  2. I live in South Florida. On dead calm days I will fish, although these are usually tough times. I will throw weightless, using a fluke or senko and let it slowly work its way through the water column on slack line. Two or three short jerks and let it sit still again. It can be like watching paint dry, but you will catch fish and sometimes quality fish.
  3. Rest in piece Richard. God bless his family and friends. He leaves us all lots of fond memories.
  4. I have had one for almost a year. I have caught fish on them but always in shallow weedy areas in early morning or late evening. Lots of surface noise, totally weedless. Fun to throw even In strong wind. Part of the arsenal!
  5. I worked with a guy that pulled an 8+ bass out of there with a fly rod and big streamer. Big bass in that system.
  6. Peacock are sure special here in south Florida. You know almost immediately you have something special hooked when you set the hook on a decent size one. Long crazy runs, airborne flips, and none stop action even when landed. One of the best gamefish anywhere I'm the world.
  7. Alligator Alley in the everglades can be a magical place at certain times of the year. When the water starts to drop in the massive glades bass must find deeper water or die. They go to gator holes, river channels, and the massive canal system cut through the swamp to control flooding. When all the big bass move into this system fishing can get off the chart. There are boat ramps all throughout the system, and excellent opportunities for fisherman. 200 to 300 catch rates are not uncommon for all day trips. Many fish will be in the 4 to 6 pound range. Seldom do you catch really huge bass in the glades because some bass never make it back to the deeper water and become gator food. For sear numbers the eyerglades stand by themselves as one of the best spots in the world for catching. Great to live in south Florida!
  8. Living in south Florida it's ideal for fishing. On weekends I go out in the everglades in the boat. Almost everyday I fish one of seven small lakes in Weston Florida from the shore. All lakes have a nice supply of black and peacock bass. Probably fish 250 days a year. Great to live in South Florida.
  9. Great learning experience each trip out. Good luck next time. I learn something all the time. Great to go back and see how much your technique changes from year to year.
  10. They are coming back in good numbers in Osbourne and ida.
  11. Merry x-mas to you and your family, Shane.
  12. carefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I will not use less then #15 lb test in Florida because of the size you can catch and all the weeds you encounter. I will go heavier at times.
  14. Merry x-mas to all and to all a good night!
  15. Let us know how you do, and good luck!
  16. I don't like the cut throat attitude of competitive bass fishing. Don't show what your using, where your going, or how much you caught. I enjoy fishing with others in the boat, and sharing techniques and spots. I have learned allot from others I have fished with, and enjoy sharing what I have learned. Fishing is relaxing and a form mental therapy. If a partner is catching fish, and having fun, I am thrilled. I fish almost every evening during the week from the bank. There is nothing better then an open bank, Pandora, and a big fish on the line.
  17. I would be more worried about equipment failure or sudden bad weather then anything else. Make sure you take more water then you really need.
  18. I used to live in Ohio and NJ, that why I move to the tropics 43 years ago, winter fishing is off the chart!
  19. If you had no money issues, plenty of storage space and lots of time to fish, what would be your dream bass boat setup?
  20. I never had a problem, but I always parked at the ramp right on 41 and not the steep ramp on the big L. The other ramp is just past the airboat tour site on 41 on the north side of the road. It is a small angled ramp just past the flood control gate you drive over. There is plenty of parking right next to the ramp. The visibility is better there then on the Big L site.
  21. Numbers have been good for the last few months. Size is coming out to play the past two weeks. I love living in South Florida!
  22. I like Nitrofreaks response. I would do it exactly the same way.
  23. Before Alligator Alley was widened to 4 lanes, I caught a big bass out of the bed of a Ford Ranger Truck. The truck was dumped in the south canal at one of the bridges just west of the toll booth, in 10 feet of water. The truck was in the canal for years. After that day I fished that truck on every trip.
  24. I would go with a weightless fluke or weightless 4.2" senko type bait, a zoom centepede is also excellant in the canals. Any shade of watermelon is good. Fish slow with a jerk and pause technique. Early morning and low light conditions a frog is a good choice.
  25. 1). Harney Pond area of lake Okeechobee. I love the west side of the lake. 2). Another favorite is Alligator Alley in the middle of the Everglades. When the water levels drop, 200 fish a day is a real possiblity, with many fish in the 4 to 5 pound range. It is hard to believe at times just how good it can get out there!
