  1. You have to be committed to run your boat way back in there. There is risk doing that. I take my hat off to these guys doing the unthinkable and finding those hogs among all that stuff. You definitely need lots of power to troll through most of it. Were they in the flats way out west? Great job guys!
  2. Since I keep the boat in the garage, I also keep alot of stuff in the boat. If Im staying at a hotel on a trip, I take as much out as I possibly can. Do not leave Electronics, Rods or Reels on the boat.
  3. When things get real tough down size your bait and slow down the presentation. I will go with a 4" senko, beaver, or Zoom centipede. Part of slowing down is go with less weight and slow the fall of the bait. Keep the bait in front of the fish's face as long as possible. Let it sit on the bottom for a minute, two or three short jerks, moving the bait a foot or two, and then sit again. When you think your fishing slow enough, slow down some more. You will get bites.
  4. I have fished that area from a boat and the sw 100 ave boat ramp. Lot of the bridges are very low and we had to lay down in the boat several times. We caught a bunch of peacocks especially out west by the turnpike. Peacock around the bridge pilings also. I have not been down there for years. I have also fished from the bank behind the Falls Mall. Biggest peacock I ever saw in Florida was there I couldn't hook up.
  5. Turkey lake is the best deal anywhere. Boats provided by Bass Pro Shops. I have fished it many times and always come away with Kodak Moments. Good luck the Lake has double digit fish in it. Make reservations early only six boats allowed on the lake.
  6. Saturday 2/1/14, Went to Alligator Alley four weeks in a row. Loads of bass to catch, and lots of fun. The catch rate has been 20 to 30 an hour, which is probably as good as it gets anywhere in the country. Although lots of fish are small the bigger ones will be moving in from the flats as the water drops and they come off their beds. Fishing will follow it's yearly pattern and 100 fish days will become the norm. If you want to teach a child and keep there interest, now is the time to go. Wacky rig a trick worm and hold on. Nothing but fun!!!!!
  7. The Alley catch rate is still 20 to 30 an hour. Went out this weekend and its still crazy. Lots of little ones but still fun. Its only going to get better as the water drops, and they will get bigger.
  8. My favorite method is one I don't use very often. In south Florida everywhere I fish is loaded with weeds and pads. So I often throw plastics back in or around the slop. Therefore Texas rigged plastics is the way to go. My favorite is: There is nothing better then the explosion of a top water lure early morning or late afternoon. Fun, fun, fun! I used to do it more when I lived up north. Devil Horse, Chug Bugs, and Rapala Stickbaits.
  9. Stayed in Buckhead Ridge in the canal homes 10 years ago. Conditions were cold and windy. We stayed off the lake a couple days because of weather and fished the rim canal. Caught some nice fish in there around the lock. We also trailered to Harney Pond Canal and fished the canal, and Fish Eating Creek. Find sheltered areas anywhere you can.
  10. Great job guys, I grew up in Jersey but never wanted to fish bad enough to go out on the ice. Moved to south Florida so I could fish 200 days a year. I give you guys a lot of credit. WTG
  11. I had a dear friend I fished with for over twenty years. Tom would whistle songs if I was catching more fish then him. If he was ahead in the count, there would be no whistling. The further ahead I got, the loader it would get. My wife would ask me when I got home, was there any whistling today. If I said yes, it was a good day. I dont think he ever realized he did that!

    Red Hooks

I have used them in the past, and see no avantage to using them.
  13. Welcome Chad, I went to college in Ohio. Ive fished Magadore, West Branch, Milton, the Cayahoga River, and Mosquito Lake In North East Ohio. I hope you join us and post a bunch. The site gets better when you participate.
  14. Captain Shane, did you get a weight on that old girl before releasing her?
  15. Shane, nice job getting her out of the junk. What a way to earn a living!
  16. The further south in Dade County the better the chance for a big one.
  17. I have fished Tree Tops Park years ago when the park first opened. I have caught fish in there but small ones. I'm sure there are big fish in there, its a mature lake. Another Davie spot with big fish is the Vista View Park. Its the old dump site off of Boy Scout Rd in west Davie. I have caught a bunch of big fish in there, up to 8 pounds. Fish look really healthy and there are loads of them. If you go this time of year fish slow, Senkos and trick worms are good. Those lakes have been there for at least 45 years and have loads of weeds and hydrilla. They do spray from time to time. Fished it last week and caught some nice ones. Good luck!
  18. Thanks guys I really appreciate it.
  19. I can hear the crickets chirping, nothing until after the Tournaments!!!!!!!!
  20. Sunday 1/26/14, temp high 74*, water temp 66*, bright sunny day light wind. Went to the Alligator Alley in the heart of the Everglades. Water levels are still dropping concentrating bass from the glades into the deep canals. It was crazy with 11 to 13 inch bass. From 7:00 to 12:00 I conservatively caught 80 to 90 bass with most of them on the short side. I did have a couple of bigger fish in the 2.5 lb. range. It was a fun day with never a slow moment all morning. Almost all were caught on Senkos and wacky rigged black trick worms. Most fish were caught in 10 to 12 feet of water snapping the trick worm off the bottom and letting it float back down. They were hitting the bait from the drop-off to mid canal. We should have several months of this type action. Great to live in South Florida.
  21. Looking for a good Yamaha Mechanic in Broward County, Florida. Anyone have anyone they really trust? Appreciate any help.
  22. Really great to live in South Florida this time of year!
  23. BPS plastics are just as good as anyone's. BPS's senko type baits are cheaper, quantities are twice as much, and they catch loads of fish. Will not pay yamoto prices for the same results.
  24. Large cotton mouth as fat as my arm, close to Flanagans in Weston. I have some pics I just cant post. He had no fear of me!
  25. Day in and day out I choose these three. 1). Zoom Trick Worm - watermelon red or black, You can Texas rig, put it on a light jig head, or wacky rig with a small jig head. Works great in south Florida. 2). Senko type baits, BPS make a good one, at a good price - * 4 inch size* watermelon anything, or Okeechobee color. 3). Gambler E-Z swimmer, or Gambler Big E-Z - Throw it out and steady reel back. Try various speeds.
