  1. So I stopped at Walmart they didn't have strike king only Berkeley and spider wire for 15 a pair. I grabbed a Grey lens and amber of spider wire. $30.... cool to have spares for the just in case situation anyways. Walmart website said in store only for the strike kings so make sure u call before u waste a trip FYI. I plan on getting a pair of costas at some point. Any how these cheap ones seem decent.
  2. To my knowledge those bionic blades only come with micro guides depending on your preference that may be a deal breaker. Seem like great rods for the price there for you can upgrade multiple setups at once on a budget.
  3. Walmart sells them! Gonna swing by there later. Feel like an a s s that I dropped $100 on these.
  4. So lost my only pair of polarized glasses which weren't that good anyways. So me and the misses were at the mall and I grabbed a new pair. My question is here in CT green pumpkin is ideal bait color for the dirty and stained water so is amber or brown a good color lens? Couldn't find Grey or blue in my price range for a good pair. I know green is based on amber and is considered great but couldn't find any. I ended up with brown tinted lens set of ray bans that were on clearance. No one around here sells costas that I could find and the Oakleys were too much and felt cheap.
  5. I grabbed a 6 something M/F for jerkbaits. It's definitely a weird tod to get used to. It's super stiff for the cast but when I whip for the retrieve it has a great flex. Haven't caught a fish on it yet but I'm assuming when I go to whip it back it will set the trebles without a problem. I would like to try a *** around 7 mh for spinnerbaits.
  6. What John said +1 lol
  7. Daiwa aird bright orange. Not bad at all for $50
  8. Also forgot to say congrats on joining the BR family
  9. Were using: 6000D 15# spider ultimate mono, 8000D 20# Big Game, 6500(2) 17# Big Game and 20# hiviz Stren, 4500B 10# Trilene XT. I included my surf fishing buddies reels so you get the idea. I wouldn't use braid on bait runners had problems on older models from braid use. Say you have a 25# striper running you then crank to disengage bait runner, there's a instant power transfer to the bail then you set the hook. You need a little stretch. The braid is gonna be way to stiff. If you must use braid I'd say go way lighter on line rest. Like I said in other post if you use circle hooks on say a chunk of bunker your reel us setting the hook not the rod.
  10. Now it's listed as used Smfh
  11. Auction expired they reposted it http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?index=0&sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=321137301484

  14. Shimano is over the counter, so u buy one at Joes bait and tackle in GA and break it on Lake Eerie in OH you could return it at Cabelas in CT.
  15. ... even mire budget friendly BPS Extreme or Bionic Blades.
  16. Ok so the point is to point a beginner in the right direction gear or brand wise? I'll settle it here 6 $250 combos. 6 *** or St Croix premieres paired with 6 curados.
  17. I've owned the bait runner series since the late 90s. I'm 30 now and almost positive I bought the 6500 when I was a freshman in high school. Lol my 6500 us still going strong caught a ton of bluefish just last year on it live lining bunker.... I have no clue what species your going after but the reels are awesome. Let the fish run crank the reel and set the hook. If you use circle hooks don't set the hook just start reeling. Lol I've used okumas and had tons of problems years back and you also have to manually disengage the bait runner. On the shimano you do not have to. All you gotta do is reel. I have the newer D model and between me an my buddy we have a bunch of the originals and the B models. Old school ones had the better running drag but they are all still exceptional. Any specific questions don't hesitate to ask me.
  18. I'm running 6# InvizX for my drop shot set up but if I throw anything else, say a Texas rigged worm I get ridiculous line twist.
  19. I almost don't even want to comment because there really are so many good options in that price range. With that being said me personally I'd go with what has the better warranty.
  20. She's gonna kick my a s s... Stupid auto correct.
  21. Awesome! I'm not sure if it's the current model Klx or the previous year but either way I'm psyched to fish these. Only bad thing is fiance is gonna kick I disagree when ups delivers 3 more reels next week hahahaha
  22. So I suck at pitching. Been practicing to get better for the most part. Flipping I have full confidence in my technique. So out on the water last week my friend of the family said I should try a shorter 7'6" rod vs the 7'10" BPS I recently got. He had a bionic blade I could borrow it just but for like $30. So ran to his house last night and ended up leaving with the 7'6" bionic blade h/xf, a St. Croix mojo 7'10" h/f slop and frog rod, and a 7 mh/f Kistler Klx. All 3 he said throw me a $100. Didn't plan on buying them but they're all practicly mint so I scooped Em up Worse case scenario I payed 100 for a used mojo and got 2 rods free. Lol thought I'd share.
  23. Haha yes those are the 2 parts I re lubed. I moderately cleaned both with qtips to get some of the factory grease off. Basically the best I could without taking it apart. I had a brain fart on the 'level wind' part name.
  24. It was grinding out the box before I put anything on it. Wanted to see if oil would help. I dropped oil on the gear that makes the guide go back and forth and inside the where the spool sits. It didn't help didn't make it worse either.
  25. Swapped it out for same one. Buddy at Cabelas thinks the roller bearing failed. I think it's a gear issue. Oh well new one is smooth and if this is shot after 100 casts this one is going back too.
