  1. Haven't done the research on them so this comment may be pointless but the Diesel line if I remember had a bad or no warranty. So this being their new "mid line" rod, I would hope they have a good warranty.
  2. or The Hook Up Tackle they have a sale going as well
  3. Don't throw hard jerk baits a lot, typically just a few times in spring. However I throw t rigged flukes a lot. I use fluoro if I'm trying to get any depth. If it's peak summer I may use mono over weed beds.
  4. Nice pick up! The reel seat on that looks comfortable. I picked up a silver hawk a ways back and hated the reel seat they used. Rod does cast great and is pretty d**n sensitive. Let us/me know how it performs !
  5. 684cb here and love it
  6. I have a Daiwa aird and hate the location of the brake dial. Every few casts I change the settings unknowingly because I palm the reel. I'm pretty sure the Lexa has it in the same place. I have the accurist pt and the flipping switch isn't really a standout feature. The reel is decent for the money, I have mine on my frog rod which I barely use. I'd say in that price range go with a citica or Curado. A Lot of guys on here live the Abus in that price range too. See what they have to say. I have no experience with them... good luck
  7. I run a ml cumara paired with a Stradic ci4 spooled with 6# InvizX. I primarily use it for drop shot but also have been using it as my trout rod. Something feels special about getting a huge fish on a light gear.
  8. Was St. Croix, still is for Salt. But for bass tied Dobyns and 13.
  9. I wanted to love the reel but I must've had a lemon X 2. Reel was junk. Had multiple issues with a 5000 my girl had gotten me for Christmas last year. Problems with em were bail closed mid cast, handle got excessively wobbly after first outing, 2nd one had both issues and one of the bearings ceased up. The construction I thought was great for a surf combo for blues and stripers just shocked at the actual quality of the components. Each one I took out only once each and only made it to a few dozen casts with each before they capped out. A few people I know love theirs but they are also vertical jigging from a boat. Trying to cast the thing was horrendous. Hopefully Penn has since fixed the issues. Made in China.
  10. So had a tourney today. Guy I was with was using p line and had a few snap offs. He was saying how the line was junk. I was like Seaguar dude! No problems at all. AbrazX for over 12# and InvizX for under. On my ***/chronarch right then and there touting my line I casted and had a very minor over spool. I thumb the spool and pull out a few inches and the line flows through guides at a break. Grabbed the line right before it went through the last guide and saved the keitech lol. This spool I had on just about the whole year without any issues. This break was so random and at what a better time than whole I'm praising it. Lol funny story figured I'd share.
  11. No Falcon exp here.... I picked up a 7' Mojo Inshore MH this summer. Been using it to throw Sluggos and Hogies. I put a 4000 reel on it. Casts pretty good no complaints. I typically do surf/jetty fishing and use 8 - 10' rods. Started throwing these things and theyre too light for my other combos so grabbed it. Worth the $100.
  12. Worm weight as in bullet weight in line in front of hook. Yea I tanked in the 2 day too. I'm also a Co angler.
  13. Oh btw I use the gamagatsu G lock hooks 4/0 size. No reason specificly just personal preference.
  14. CT? You in CT BASS? I throw the same stuff. I throw em with worm weights on a 6' M/F spinning and with football heads on a 6'6 M/F baitcaster. A Lot of guys throw them on MH at candlewood. I have yet to try em with a stiffer rod....
  15. I run a Dobyns 684cb, I've been throwing 17# floro on it all year no problems. I've read a lot about lighter line when fishing deeper articles. Anyhow threw a 6xd yesterday around a 12 ft hump and got stuck. Lost the bait.... to the point how much depth do you actually lose using heavier line. has there been any real research on this? The hump I was hitting was 35+ on one side and 20 on the other. Was really not expecting to get it to dig into the bottom. Besides a few patches of weeds I didn't see any structure on the screen after a few passes before I fished the spot. My point is I'm using pretty heavy line I don't see how I was able to dig a 6xd into something without deflection.
  16. Chemical subastance addiction/abuse, does nicotin count? Dip/Chew, Cigars, Cigs, etc? Like all things sports related, pros are role models for kids, I wonder how pro anglers are looked at with this. I know baseball was shunning dip/chew for awhile back in the late 90s.
  17. Once season is fully over I'm gonna list a bunch of stuff on here for cheap. Have 5 tourneys left. Thanks for feedback. ... any other guys that fish tournaments, have you been in my shoes?
  18. Sup guys!!! Haven't posted in a while. Bought a house and have been pretty busy. Any how placed 3rd in a club tourney today so pretty happy. Anyhow some of you guys may know this is my first year in a club and doing nation tourneys, club, fundraiser, etc. Over the course of the year I went up from a handful of combos to 20 something. My reason for buying so much gear was to find brands I like, differentiate the actions of rods and get a good feeling of what I need to be doing on the water. I've come to the conclusion out of all the "dedicated" set ups I need 7 total. 1. Spinner bait (baitcaster)(MH/F) 2. Shallow/medium depth crank bait (baitcaster) (M/M) 3. Drop shot/worm/finesse (spinning) (ML/F) 4. Pitching/flipping (baitcaster)(H/XF) 5. Swimbait/finesse (spinning)(M/F) 6. Top water/ spook/popper (baitcaster)(MH/F) 7. Frog (baitcaster)(H/F) So on that note I pretty much know which rods I want to upgrade and which size/speed reels I should mostly have. For the most part I'm running 3chronarchs 1curado and 2stradics. Which I would like to go to a 50 size for flipping and maybe a larger spinning reel for swimbaits for heavier line... On top of this gear all the tackle I have bought I know what works for me and what doesn't. Colors sizes etc. All of which leads me to this. Should I sell everything else and do upgrades as I see fit OR continue to experiment for another year? Any input would be appreciated. Would like a good in general discussion with you guys. Thanks in advance!! PS. Technically I have 8 setups as my go to 1 not mentioned is my Fluke/jerkbait setup. That's been kind my thing all year with the same set up as my Swimbait setup but in baitcasting not spinning.
  19. I like 6000 sizes. My old bait runner 6500 was perfect for size and line cap but the newer 6000D has a smaller spool for braid. I use mono for throwing chunks. My plug/popper rod I have the 6000 sustain, wanted the 5000 but it wasn't available at the time of purchase.
  20. Soon ticked... dam auto correct. I was sooooo p i s's ed
  21. Idk don't fish for weak fish. Last night while I was playin with the sienna something big slammed a bunker head on my bait runner. I flipped it off to set the hook and dam thing tugged and spit it out. soon ticked. Any how this rod is awesome! It's rated up to 1 1/4oz but u need a good 1 3/4 or more to get the distance. The rod has more than enough backbone to handle it. Feels great paired with a 4000. Not as top heavy as my 7' mojo frog rod.
  22. I found a sienna 4000 in a box of old stuff. Thing is beat up bad lol gonna take it out tonight if it sucks Walmart in the am. Thanks for the post on review guy!
  23. My Trout setup 5' Berkley Cherrywood Ultra light paired with a Shimano Sienna 1000
