  1. I cant hear the drag buzz on my BC reels but when my stradic starts zinging I get excited. All my days of salt fishing for Blues and Stripers with 6000 series reels brought me to admire the sound of drag peeling. With that said I can relate. lol
  2. no he didn't I asked name of line and he said he couldn't say yet. I called about the tw exclusive football jig rod that's no longer offered seeing what they have that's comparable. He said a very similar rod is launching in the new series.
  3. Just scored a 725cb from fishranger for $130 awesome!! Wanted something longer for DT 10s thanks bass_fanatic.
  4. Posted in another thread Powell is gonna be releasing a new line in less than 90 days! #win
  5. Step down another notch for small stuff, check out the 684cb. As far as glass, that's a personal preference. See if someone has one local to try out.
  6. Called Powell to see if by any chance they still had a TW exclusive football rod available, he said no, but in less than 90 days theyre launching a new line that will feature that model. I asked name of line he said he cant say yet. That might be something to look into. So Powell guys, Inferno>Max>Endurance. What are you paying for spending the extra $30-$80. Inferno 765C looks like a good bet.
  7. thats a option in my price range, just hate that reel seat.
  8. Thanks everyone. Ive been throwing braid w and w/o leader definitely better sensitivty down there. Was thinking trying straight fluoro this summer, 10-12#. Again appreciate feed back, gonna grab something 7'4-7'6 H/XF. A buddy recommended IROD's Freds magic stick. Gonna look into the 13's first.
  9. my pitching rod is a mh/f 7'3 use it for arky heads around docks. Football heads I fish either deep pockets or structure 20-30 ft deep. Would extra fast help on a quicker hook set? My hook up ratio sucks. I think it's either the rod length not moving enough line fast enough or the tip is too slow.
  10. Have been using a 6'10 heavy kistler. Looking to add casting distance and something more sensitive. Not looking for brand recommendations per say, more or less length, action, taper. The brand/model you use if you care on sharing is welcome. Thanks in advance. *edit my hook up ratio sucks as well with this technique... Still learning
  11. Abrazx 17# crank, 15# jig, 12# t rig. InvizX 12# deep cranks, 10# jerkbaits, 6# drop shot. Senshi 12# spinner/buzz/chatter baits, 10# top water. Smack down 30# light jigs and frogs.
  12. I have a local lake that used to have tons of bass crappie and Sunnys. Over the years I've seen people literally fill a bucket with fish and after they die dump em back in. I totally feel where your coming from. I've given em my 2 cents. *edit, in CT there's less than 5 wardens that cover the entire state, and unless there's a immediate threat to the environment they don't come out.
  13. Love it! Thing is a tank, reminds me of Penn Battles but way better. Read that it may be a DSG exclusive model. Oh well for $50 can not go wrong. One downside is on my ***, it doesn't tighten down all the way like the feet are a little too big. But it is a 300 size maybe the 200 (2500 I'm guessing in shimano terms) would fit better. Some reels tend to use the same frame for certain reels and just different spool sizes. Either way it's awesome nailed a 3.9 smallie on a senko with it today. Drag peeled smooth.
  14. Stopped by Dicks to grab a extra spinning reel for a combo. Didn't want to drop the coin on another Stradic. Debated between quantum nitrous and lews carbon fire. Both at $50 they they look very similar. Reel feels really Smooth. looking forward to fishing it Sunday. Have it on a 7'1 MH *** with 12# invizX.
  15. there is a fishing channel on dish reason I switched from cable
  16. 40-47 degree water all my jerk baits: clunn, Ito, rapala, etc. suspended flawlessly last week. Yesterday water around 52-55, couldn't get them to suspend at all. Added 5 split rings to one and it floated. Added a tiny split shot it dove nose down like a sack of rocks. Is there a happy medium trick that isn't time consuming to figure out what works.... Season is so late this year, no beds yet, still lethargic.
  17. I'm at a loss here, I've never had a bait literally stop working unless it was completely destroyed. Just the golden black color on nose is chipped a bi. No cracks. Re verified that tonight, it's not filling with water.
  18. http://www.***.com/Koppers_Live_Target_Gizzard_Shad_Vibration_Trap/descpage-KLTGSHV.html#multiview
  19. nope hooks didn't get stuck or deformed in anyway. The nose is lightly chipped.
  20. yesterday was my first time out this year. Usually it's great for bass, just couldn't get em in the boat yesterday. Yeah I guess they stocked it with browns and rainbows
  21. Xrs8 size I run a fast crank bait retrieve. A confidence lure of mine on one lake here
  22. Got one of these via one of the subscription services, first cast with it had a follow and a light hit I missed at the boat. Few casts later got stuck in some rip rap, after that the thing wouldn't swim right. Like you would have to yank real hard to get the wiggle going. I've had tons of lures get stuck and loosened and unless it broke it still wiggled right. Any of you guys experience this with these? I like the light rattle sound would be good for a few places up here.
  23. So today was opening day up here in CT. Hit up Candlewood with a friend. Awhile back had a discussion on here when I purchased the RC jerk baits. Gotta say I like them a lot however didn't catch a single bass. But managed 2, 2.5lb brown trout on them dinner was great lol. These stayed suspended nose slightly angled down with 10# invizx in water temps of 41-46. Actually between these my 1 Ito, 2 smith wicks and a rapala, the RCs were the only ones that stayed suspended the rest floated. Banged some rocks a couple times too, no paint chippage. Over all satisfied and by the hole in my thumb the hooks are good too out of the box. Lmaooo
  24. that's awesome about cal. My fave ball player of all time is Will Clark. He's another one that had a ton of passion for what he loves.
