  1. Something 7'-7'3" MH, very versatile.
  2. Cool, report back how you like it. I almost pulled the trigger on a BB1. Ended up sticking with what I already had. Seem to be some good work horses.
  3. Ok so in another thread I said I was gonna buy another reel thanks to bait monkey... Anyhow, one guy at some point said his Tatula handled lighter stuff great. So that night I spooled up some 10# Fluoro and tied on a Fluke, with a Gamakatsu 4/0 weighted hook. Casted like a dream in the back yard so I was convinced. Over the weekend I pre fished plus tourney and threw a fluke quite a bit. Fluke and Tatula are a match made in heaven. We had heavy winds on Saturday, no problem what so ever. Got great casting distance into wind. Not a single backlash nothing. I use a *** 6'7" M/F for flukes and jerkbaits. Was using a Chronarch 201E6 which I now have found another use for. I like to stay in the 6:1 gearing range for flukes, I want to pull up slack line but not too much in case a fish hits and sits. On that note I read the Tatula Type R has a lighter spool, which in reality would probably make very minor difference, although an advantage for flukes. Especially if I dont tie on a weighted hook. The Tat I used I wanted to put on another rod so went ahead and searched for a deal for another. Grabbed a Type R in 6.3:1 for $122.57. Excited is a understatement. Have bocas I never put in the other 2 so Im gonna do the bushing>bearing on the levelwind and I think the knobs are 1 bushing and 1 bearing, gonna up that to 2 each. Peanut butter jelly time!
  4. Hopefully with the extra line capacity they will make a cranking reel. IN LEFT HAND!!!!!!!!
  5. what model you get? the standard speed spool?
  6. Typically 2ft of line is from your tip to lure when casting, Id say check your tip guide.Run a q tip through it to check for some sort of groove or nick. Ive been using 15# big game on a 6000 size spinning reel for years for bluefish(salt) without a issue.
  7. I did a full break down over the winter. So maybe user error lmao
  8. Well if you want to throw 3 different types of line in 3 different lb tests with 3 different gear ratios, but all need same action, and all need to be tied on ready to go at a moments notice.... Then no, no problem in my eyes.
  9. Some of you guys know awhile back I bought this combo (using Cabelas points ) Have been using it for top water. Its a 6'6" MH/F. Reel is 6:1. Had a couple fish over past year or so, nothing crazy, just a couple 12 inchers. Well this weekend I didnt expect 3# Smallies to be hammering my Sammy. The drag is almost not enough on this reel. If I would have got a 4+lber to hit, he would of dived in the weeds and it would be a wrap. Had it as tight as I could and they were pulling line like crazy. Rod handled awesome though. Managed about 5 fish on it before the top water bite died down Friday. Just gotta say it was fun as hell during practice fighting em out. On Saturday during Tourney not so much. lol Any of you young guys on a budget that need a cheap combo, for fishing from shore in local ponds and such, this combo would be good. Its very light and casts great. From what I've seen lately the price is marked down alot.
  10. Ran the 201E5 on the Powell, WOW hell of a rod! Ran the DT 10s exactly how I wanted. I think I'm sticking with this pair and throwing 201E6 on the Dobyns.
  11. No nothing negative at all, just what it is, old. The crazy cranker debuted with a $269 price tag and some point jumped to $319. Now you can get it on sale for $298 or Ebay for $280ish. Why pay that much for something old. When you can get same brand same quality new with a warranty for half the price. Zillions are amazing reels from what Ive heard, I just can't justify paying over retail for one.
  12. For rods, check out Crowder E Series. Made in Florida. same feel as ugly sticks but much lighter and quality cork.
  13. Shimano Stradic, any van stall, quantum Cabo. For live bait and chunks Shimano bait runner 6500D. I had the Battle and had the problem of bail closing mid cast. Lost a few good plugs because of it. Daiwa Saltist is solid too. All the above I've used or owned
  14. Tourney Saturday practice tomorrow. Put the E5 on the Powell, spooled it with 10# Red Label after my InvizX debacle. Only bringing 2 DT 10s in my day box, don't know how much cranking I'll be doing. Will report back tomorrow.
  15. Quick question on the Lews Multi Stop Anti Reverse - Zero Anti Reverse. Which one is which? TT refers to one as Instant and other as zero. You would think zero means instant...
  16. True.... Urban legend maybe? lol
  17. I'm not pinning it on TW my bulk line order in December only had 1 spool of 10#. I also picked up a bunch of line from DSG around Christmas. So the spools might be from them. $60 gone smh
  18. Figured I'd share this. A older guy in my club I fished with saw me using my lefty reels casting with my right hand. Asked why I fish like that, I replied I grew up handle on the left so it's whats comfortable for me. He said he was told many years ago the spool should always be vertical to the water when casting so the brake side is facing down... This was awhile back. But looking at some different reels this week that run on magnetic brakes not centrifugal brakes, it kinda makes sense... Any of you guys ever been told this?
  19. Yea tell me about it. I used to use Spider mono exclusively and had a issue they sent me a new spool and some lures(I lost a spinnerbait), no questions asked. They said they have contracts with retailers for all issues to be resolved through them. This post was more just to alert anyone who has a spool of this. Way past 30 days. I'll give TW a call though, I dont expect them to do anything it's not their fault.
  20. Thanks guys, appreciate all of the feedback. I think for now because I have them I'm gonna put the E6 on my Dobyns and E5 on the Powell, and wait for Icast results..... Still gonna grab a reel now that the bait monkey has finished strip teasing me.
  21. Attempted to spool a reel with InvizX 10# and noticed line was nicked and frayed roughly every 30ft. Stripped that went to next spool, same thing, stripped that next spool same thing. All 3 spools were purchased back in December from TW. Just a heads up, if you have this line check it out when spooling. *I emailed Seguar through their site, no response so i called, they said contact retailer they cant do anything.
  22. Dtack thanks bro I may try that aavery2 they had the zillion listed at 269 it's crazy expensive now for old technology
  23. Whats your opinion on upping my shallow crank/square/lipless set to 6:1 and throwing the 5 on the 10ft+
  24. I must be the only one, but my 2 G series Curados have been working great for me. They feel right where they should be between the Citica G and the Chronarch E. I have had no problems with them. But I agree Shimano needed to up the ante, that price range is highly competitive.
