  1. And let me just say this being my first custom Rod I couldn't have picked a better person to do it! DVT! I couldn't imagine being able to go back and forth with anyone else. So Mike thanks again and thanks to Road Warrior for the suggestion as well!
  2. Lmao I only mentioned it because I technically don't have a "finished product". Ok fine. So the stupid winding check above the locking nut is a hair to big after epoxy. So the little section in between I damaged loosening the nut. So we're gonna order a few different winding checks and and trial and error them till we have one that will fit flush when locked down. Sorta like Dobyns/Powell... I wasn't there during the build so all I have is the completed Rod. Dvt should have pics throughout the build. It's a MHX HM MagML/F Fuji Torzite guides Aero reel seat, cork split grip, paired and balanced to a Stradic ci4+.
  3. PS I hope you guys have a napkin handy, you may drool a tad bit. Lmao
  4. Sup guys, got the rod in the other day. This thing is a beast. We had one discrepency with it which is gonna be worked on in a few weeks. The issue isn't really worth discussing. So let me just say this is going to be the ULTIMATE shaky/senko/tube Rod in the history of ever! DVT feel free to post whatever pics of the build.
  5. I'm bias towards shimano however I own a Lews CF300. Reel is decent but the foot is too big. Doesn't fit in the reel seat of any of my spinning rods that don't have exposed threads. With that said the FJ is a solid workhorse and parts in the future will be available. I don't know how lews is with parts and repairs.
  6. This is exactly why I use a medium light rod!!!!! I emphasized this in another post awhile back. I also use mustad size 1 KVD double wide hooks wacky rigged with a O ring. The first sign of anything I sweep to the side slowly and now it's a 99.9999% chance I have the upper corner of the lip. I don't even like piercing them when culling I have clamp style tags. Everyone has different techniques so you'll get a million pieces of advice. But for your reason which was mine is why this is the only way I fish senkos.
  7. wasn't the new rod lol but yea I broke that one in
  8. another guy had a 5lb largemouth that won lunker. Lunker is a pool for biggest fish.
  9. I posted pic in 'my gallery'.
  10. Yesterday participated in a team open with a buddy from my club. 3rd cast broke PB smallie of 4lbs 3oz with a 4lb 5oz! Awesome right? Nope it gets better. So were fishing a hump about 50 feet from shore. It's 8ft deep with a nice weed bed about 100ft stretch. He's up front throwing a spinner bait and I'm in the back flipping the pockets. Out of the corner of my eye see a huge splash about 10 ft off shore. Did you see that? No but I heard it probably a carp he says. I didn't see orange so I drop flipping stick pick up my senko rig(see avatar) I launch a cast to the area I saw the splash. I let out an additional 20 ft of line and get tap tap tap. He says if it's tapping light might be bluegill or perch. All of a sudden drag is screaming and my pole is bent in half. I start reeling and it's game on. The fish ran to deep water in between us and shoreline. My buddy gets the net and the fish comes up and starts entering the weed area. I'm like nooooo dude move boat deeper. He's all nonchalant like just get him up to surface I'm like dude get the f'n trolling motor!!!! He spins the boat the fish is now in weeds. I'm like noooooooo! He's like horse him up I'm like I can't it's 6# test. He's like What the blank are you doing with 6# test in a tourney! I'm like it's my drop shot rod! So we're yelling back and forth lol I get the fish to the surface and swing and miss with the net. Fish dives under the boat! At this point I'm sweating praying the line doesn't snap and knot doesn't fail. I muscle him up and out the water he jumps! Nooooo I he spit the hook? Went light, d**n me, I start reeling nope he's still on! Woohoo! Swoop of the net number 2 right next to the motor and we got him! 4lbs 8oz! Not only did I break my PB but I did so TWICE and In a tourney! We ended up with 4 SM and 4 LMB 8/8. My 2 smallies weighing 8lbs 13oz. We went to weigh in thinking we had 18lbs or so as we didn't weigh the largies. Ended up 22.38 which put us in 3rd and I lost lunker to a 5lb LMB. We won $740. Best tourney experiences to date! - thanks for reading!
  11. Good job! Congrats!
  12. From the album: dam0007

Came in 3rd place thanks for this guy about a hour before check in!
  13. haha thanks! Fishing it tomorrow in a Open Tourney. Hopefully break it in with a check!
  14. I wanna know how it took them less than a week to get the reel to me from Japan for $20 but yet TW takes a week and a half from Cali. Lmao
  15. you're right! Did not help me either
  16. Between ^, Siebert and Ron at Valley Tackle Idk whos easier to deal with lol. The rod hes building me, I briefly discussed with you on one of my threads, is similar to RW's but with a few differences. Dealing with DVT he can point you in the right direction not only for the blank, but reelseat and handle layout and components and guide choice.
  17. I'm gonna go against the grain here and say 2 Chronarch Es
  18. Haven't fished the Tatula rods. Love the reels tho. Anyhow I love my 13s. I have some top shelf stuff as well but come tourney time all my 13s are on the deck. They are workhorse rods in my book. The only other rods I've purchased in a while that have given me the WOW factor was sub 100 daiwa T rods and sub 200 powell endurance. -edit* add in irod Genesis 2 'Fred's magic stick' it's magic for sure, one of the few rods I've ever touched that literally can serve dozens of purposes and serve them well. The taper for this strength of a rod is something else.
  19. My buddy swears by them, but then again he has the earliest version of them (orange). He does a lot of frogging Flipping and punching. I remember reading the company was bought out or something. I'd switch brands ASAP. 13 omens are great budget rods and the new Kistler pros are supposed to be good, a lot of guys here use powell diesels. The daiwa T rods are cheap on TW right now and sale applies tomorrow.
  20. Out my price range for a factory rod only reason I'm entertaining the DX is because it's $80 something off.
