Allow me to reiterate. When I work a jig my Rod is 99% of the time at 12 o'clock. If I feel something I crank down to 3-4 o'clock then cross its eyes. One thing I think people don't take into consideration is the reel I've been using which yes it's a 6:1 but it's also a US 50 size. If I'm half way down on line from a long cast 1 handle turn might only be 12" of line so getting down to 3-4 o'clock is like 5-6 turns before the line is taught. This reel I'm literally re-spooling weekly, after xx amount of reties break offs etc IPT is greatly reduced rather quickly. So in my case the faster the reel the better for me. State tourney trail, 2 clubs, few dozen opens, plus numerous practice days on the water, year in year out the jig has been my bread and butter.
