  1. I have had cops check mine in VA several times. No idea if they are supposed to, but I'm not gonna argue.
  2. Still photos did not do that bait justice, thanks for the video. Definitely picking one up now.
  3. Sorry, but I doubt that. Salmo had the scatter lip a few years before Rapala came out with it (around 2011). Or are you admitting to ripping Salmo off? http://www.salmo.com.pl/en/whacky/
  4. I turned in some folks once. They were seining the creek I was fishing and keeping every single thing they got, including crawfish and minnows. They were obviously fishing for food and were poor as heck. I struggled for a while but in the end I called DGIF to report them. I felt bad as heck when the actual cops showed up and cuffed all six of them and took them away. Turns out they were illegal immigrants. The cops left behind their nets and buckets, so I grabbed them. Got a cool cast net out of it.
  5. I don't know what it is about original YUM, but after working for several years in my area, it seems to have begun repelling fish. Same with most of my anise scented baits... I don't know how much different the F2 scent is, I use the creature craw (can't think of the name) and haven't really compared it is as well as the original formula. I do like the new baits with F2 a bit better, not because of the scent, but because the plastics seem slightly stiffer and sturdier than normal, which I kind of like.
  6. My favorite is the #3 or #4 in black and red. It is part of every tackle box I take out with me.
  7. Take a look at the Bandit Footloose, cheap and it crushes bass.
  8. The Kopper's product looks substantially different from the air brush guy's paint job and that alone should preclude any real lawsuit. The reason hiring a lawyer for such a case is expensive is that if the lawyer thinks the case is an easy, slam dunk win, their price would reflect that since they expect to take their payment out of the winnings. If it is an 'iffy' case that could go either way, many lawyers will still try to litigate, but will want every dime up front. As for the patent costs, a simple thing such as a lure or a paintjob should run only about 5k. 20K is ridiculous.
  9. Great advice from Sam. I'd add that it would be a good idea to cast it onto the shore and hop the frog off into the water. I have gotten some crazy blowups doing this from my kayak.
  10. Whenever there's money in my pocket...
  11. The facts thus far don't add up to the hype. They haven't raped and pillaged the Potomac yet... They are certainly there, but the opinions are varied. Will they settle into a niche? Probably. Bass live side by side with any number of similarly voracious predators - Musky and Pike up north, Bowfin down south... Neither of those three have decimated bass populations. Nor have the snakeheads wreaked havok like other invasive species have (like the silver carp)... I think the term invasive species is a buzz word intended to instill fear or panic by the news or politicians. We have to take things on a case by case basis, not just lump them all into a single category.
  12. I get a pretty good distance with spinning gear. I can't wing it as far on my baitcasters...
  13. With all of our fancy colors, sometimes the basics just work best. Purple, Black, Yellow (not chartreuse, but regular old yellow...) will work anywhere. Not as flashy to our eyes as Watermelon Candy, Green Moccasin or Fire and Ice, but still darned good.
  14. A couple of years ago Terminator baits was changing their packaging, and because of it Gander marked down all the old ones... Cleaned up that week, still have a ton of unopened terminators. Will be in spinnerbaits for years. Recently a Gander store closed, and my store got all of their fishing stock, all of it half off. Pretty much went broke.
  15. Here is a Quick and relatively cheap starter kit, and most of it can be found at Walmart. I bought these exact lures for my kids' tackle boxes: Mepps Fury #3 Red Dots White 3 inch grub on a jig head. Power bait or Mister Twister Rebel Pop R Black top, blue and white sides. Bandit 100, 200 and 300, Colors - My best colors are Rootbeer, Chartreuse Back white sides and Blue Back/Chartreuse side KVD 1.5 Black top, Yellow sides Walmart Spinner Baits (A $1.50 each) in various colors. Green/White is my favorite, but buy a few. If Walmart carries their own Buzz Baits, buy some of those too, if not, Booyah Buzzbaits, a black one and a chartreuse/white one. Yum Dinger in watermelon seed or Baby Bass Zoom Fluke in Baby Bass Zoom or Power Bait 7.5inch worm, my fav colors are Pumpkinseed, Green Pumpkin, Junebug and tequila sunrise Zoom Horny Toad in Brown and white swirl or in Watermelon Red fleck. Strike King Coffee Tubes, I like pearl colored.
  16. Excellent advice. I have done this with both the Uvibes and Thumper worms after trying them like a traditional ribbon tail. Made all of the difference.
  17. Great bait. I still use them, alewife, bubblegum, chartreuse pepper and bluegill colors.
  18. The Rebel Pop R is hard to beat. Koppers Live Targer Soft frog is great also. If you want a constant action bait Zoom Horny Toads are more fun than a barrel of dead monkeys.
  19. My favorite creek bait is a Lunker City Hellgie on a jig head. Cast into little eddies behind rocks, or any other current break you can find. Small cranks like a Bandit 100, a Bagley Killer B1 or Bagley HoneyB will work some magic too.
  20. I just bought two the other day, both seem fine. I haven't run them hard yet, but one half day of fishing and they still look good. Hopefully you just got some from a bad batch and overall quality isn't slipping.
  21. Agree. Mirrolure for sure.
  22. Get a big Rapala Countdown. Will take a while to get to 25 feet, but with some floro and some patience, you'll be crushing them.
  23. Megabass Cyclone for me... It was hung up too deep for me to get to. I made a good go at it though. Ended up being a nice day of swimming.
  24. I have some, love them, especially the green pumpkin with blue fleck color. They are very durable. I use a Gammy Jobe hook, finesse jighead, and weightless and do quite well with them. Can't wait to try it on the Jika Rig...
