  1. Fellas, I'm considering buying a 7mm08. I've heard a lot of good things about this round. I'm already a big fan of the .284 bullets. I reload for my 7mm Mag. I'd appreciate opinions from guys that own and shoot one. Thanks.
  2. Good thoughts and prayers for your speedy recovery. Get well soon.
  3. We all have things to be thankful for. One is the good people I've met and become acquainted with from this site. I hope we take the time to step back , take a deep breath , and see things from a different perspective. I'll echo this post. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
  4. Thanks, Bill. You've been a great inspiration for me. When I was feeling down your comments always helped........... I received more good news. My oncologist phoned yesterday and wants to set up an appointment to have my "port" taken out. I told the nurse that it will have to wait until my granddaughter gets her deer this season. She just laughed............ Get through these couple treatments, Bill. we have lots more left to accomplish. Cherish every day.......it's a gift.
  5. My hat's off to you and your bride, Mike. I wish you many, many more glorious years.
  6. Another reason to be very THANKFUL, Results just came back, negative. Thanks again for the all the prayers and good thoughts. My family and I are very appreciative. I wish you all a wonderful holiday.
  7. Welcome , Jake. Lake Hartwell has been on my bucket list for a few years. Good luck to you.
  8. Thanks for the support fellas. I'm trying to stay positive.
  9. Gotta go back and have a biopsy. Wasn't what I wanted to hear.
  10. Three days left.......................getting ready to go out the door and perch in a tree...................really need to see a legal buck
  11. Grandson missed an 7 pt. this morning. Season's coming to an end, he's not quite as picky ............lol
  12. Got to pass on a buck this afternoon. Wasn't quite legal for our area. He came right past that rub.
  13. Things are looking up. Yesterday afternoon on the way into my stand I spotted a fresh rub on top of an old rub. It's only 37 yards from my tree. Hopefully I'll get an opportunity to see him during shooting hours. This morning we had our first snowfall here at the house ( enough snow to track a cat ). If it stays cold maybe the rut will start in earnest.
  14. A woman killed a bear fairly close to here yesterday morning. She was on her way to work and was passing an 18 wheeler, hit it and killed it instantly. It measured 8 foot and weighed 600 lbs.
  15. You've got that right, Dwight. I had a few pounds of the doe I took earlier, into something new. He calls it Cajun sausage. I grilled the first patties last evening. Finger- lickin' good!................gotta be brown stadium mustard.............right?
  16. I got pinned up in my treestand last night right at dusk by two does. The dang things just wouldn't move on. Apparently they had found something good to eat in the ferns. I was about an hour late getting down. My wife got concerned and had my son-in-law heading to my stand to check on me. I still have yet to spot an antler.
  17. I think it's a great idea.
  18. Dang, third week in and have yet to see an antler.
  19. Any of my grandchildren. Their excitement is my reward.
  20. Yes. We had a big, electrical job at a local university. On their property were three small ponds close to our construction trailers. There was a good concentration of buzzbait hungry bass. It was a great way to start the day for a few months.
  21. Fish into the wind.
  22. I broke the ice and took a doe last night. There will be sausage , bologna, and hot sticks . Joe and Nicholas are still looking for a big buck........ Neighbor apparently killed a big one over the weekend. They have about 200 acres posted up tight. That would be a nice situation........ Going for the results of last week's ct scan this morning. I always get nervous at these times.............Take good care , guys. Stitch
  23. It's already a very successful hunt, Jeff. I'm still able to do it. ..............My daughter came out in the garage Saturday night. Nicholas, Joe and I were all dressed in our camo. Danielle started to cry. She said it had been a long time since she'd seen me in hunting attire. There we were , three generations all decked out. I think the fact that Nicholas is continuing to look more like a man than a boy has some bearing on her tears as well. It was a GOOD DAY!................right now as I type this, there's a laborer in our kitchen jackhammering up our old ceramic tile. There are three sisters painting the downstairs. And Kit just went for one of my "happy pills". I'll be glad when this day is over!!..............take good care, Jeff. I'll keep you in the loop.
  24. Nothing yet, Jeff. Nicholas saw a few turkeys. It was 44 degrees with a 20 mph WSW wind. I forgot how cold it can be 18 feet up a tree.
  25. Thanks, Andy. Just about to shower and head out.
