  1. Thanks, guys. It was a fun time. The handloads were spot on too. Sometimes everything works the way I'd like them to.
  2. I got down to the club to try out a new pistol load. That being successful, I decided to try the upper pond on my way out. I caught seven in an hour on a chatterbait with jerkbait trailer. It's been a good day.
  3. I was up along the Allegheny River at Parker, PA today. There are still piles of ice jam along the shore. If the current slacks a little, I should be able to do some smallie fishing real soon.
  4. I would imagine that the boxes with the waterproof seals would suit your needs.
  5. I got a chance to slip down to a pond between the storms today. The water looked like thin chocolate milk. The wind was pretty stiff. I was throwing a 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbait with a gold Colorado blade. In an hour and a half I managed to catch three, only about a pound a piece but It felt really good.
  6. Everything is thawed here. Lots of rain and a southerly wind. It shouldn't be long before I catch my first of the year. The boat is out of storage. It needs prepped and I'm surely ready. I've got a chance to fish a farm pond once. I had no bites but am hopeful that I'll do better the next outing. I hope everything opens up for all of you folks soon so that we can get back to doing what we really live for. Tight lines, all.
  7. Anyone have any once fired for sale?
  8. I watched a special on TV about Holland and Holland. The craftsmanship is simply amazing. Each firearm is hand fitted. Therefore, parts are not interchangeable between the very same models. Their "field grade" double barrels start at 50,000 pounds with about a two year waiting list. It was a treat seeing that quality is still a virtue in their manufacturing. I wish I could remember the name of the show. It was worth watching.
  9. That's a once in a lifetime fish. Apparently he kept his head and played it perfectly. Congratulations to him.
  10. Monday, I drove over the Youghiogheny Resevior. It was entirely thawed. Though there wasn't a single boat on the water. A tournament angler friend, told me that a buddy of his has already fished it twice. He's not gotten any bites yet. ................There's a tournament coming up on Raystown Lake next weekend; if I remember correctly. Everything up around my home is still frozen. Hang in there fellas. The thaw is coming.
  11. Thank you for being a being a caring individual. We certainly need more folks like you to step up to the plate. Fund raisers like yours are a lot of work but extremely rewarding.
  12. I figured that in another two days all the snow would finally be gone from my lawn. This morning I awoke to find the entire yard covered in another thin blanket. I'm surely getting tired of this!
  13. Dick's and Field and Stream are the same parent company. I would think their prices would be very close to the same , considering the close proximity.
  14. BPS sells their Bionic Blade BBM66MT for $80. It's a micro guide model. I have an old standard model that's 30 plus years old. I've replaced some guides and tip tops and it's still going strong. I'll break down and cry if it ever gets broken.
  15. Welcome from western Pa. Good to have you here.
  16. I'm excited to pick up my new loading bench today. I was informed yesterday that it's completed. We designed it from the ground up. My cabinetmaker says we either have to haul it in two trucks or his trailer. If I learn how to post photos, I'll do so. I may have to get one of my GRANDCHILDREN to help with that!.....lol. It's been 24 years since I've loaded a round. I'm anxious to get back at it.
  17. Field and Stream in Cranberry Twp. PA is the best selection we have for a long distance in any direction. The next closest competitor we have is Cabela's in Wheeling. Sportsman's Warehouse closed up three or four years ago. It's not cheap but the selection is the best in the area.
  18. Dang, ya made me jealous. I want to do that too. Were you fellas on your own or with a local ?
  19. Welcome, Scott. Hopefully this site will be very helpful to you. Lots of good folks and advice here. Good luck.
  20. WTG, AK!! Great fish. Congratulations.
  21. I have to have the progressives in order to ty my knots. All my sunglasses are progressive lenses. I like them.
  22. A friend of mine is going to South Myrtle Beach Thursday. He's wondering about fishing opportunities in that area. I don't think he's interested in a charter or a guide, just some places he can access on his own. Any info, I can pass on to him? Thanks, folks.
  23. My wife worked in the optical field for many years, she answered this way. Progressive lenses are just bi-focals without the visible line. That being said, I've been wearing strictly progressive lenses for a long time. Yes, polarized sunglasses can be made in the progressive format. Other than initially getting used to them, the only drawback I've encountered is trying to see through my rifle scopes. As Dwight mentioned, you could also buy "Cocoons". They fit over your regular glasses.
  24. I'll agree with the Slug go. I still use 'em. White and perch colors.
  25. My condolences to you and your family. You were lucky to have a father with those qualities. Cherish your memories.
