  1. Kahr .40 & Tarus .380 depending on the dress code.
  2. If you have an opportunity to look through one of Cabela's "bargain caves"......you can find some great deals on returned gear. Be very careful though when looking the stuff over. Most has been damaged in some fashion.
  3. Okay,DVT has been mentioned twice. I need more info.Thanks.
  4. Have any of you folks had experience with having reels tuned ? Is it worth the expense ? Is the operation of the reel that much better ? I have several older Shimanos that I may consider having tuned. I've seen some costs as much as $80 including a gear ratio change. I'd appreciate some advice on the whole process. If you have a place to reccomend for such a service , I'd appreciate that as well. Thanks .................Stitch
  5. Dang fishing in the winter is exhausting. Cut a hole ....drag the boat, cut another hole, ....drag the boat.
  6. We truly are blessed. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  7. Another simple bait you may try is a weightless sluggo. They are in my humble opinion , the easiest of the soft jerkbaits to rig straight on an offset hook. For some reason they have seemed to fall from favor over the years. When I first started using plastics, these were what gave me much confidence. Good luck to you and Happy Thanksgiving.
  8. Welcome back to fishing. You're in the right place, folks here are good people. You're close to some very good Smallie fishing over there.
  9. Welcome, good to see so many younger fellas are interested in fishing. You'll find lots of helpful folks with much knowledge to share.
  10. Welcome ,JW....................Sounds like you're off to a great start..............I wish you much continued and greater success.
  11. I have two older Berkley digital scales. The worst one is almost 5 oz. light when compared to the test weight. I'd be interested in one that's accurate as well.
  12. I'd be interested in everyone's opinion of the Shimano Calais DC. Do any of you fish one on a regular basis? Would you purchase another?
  13. I guess I'm a "work in progress". Born right handed forced to learn fishing left handed. Two incidents seperated by only several months debilitated the use of my right hand and sholder. I had to learn quickly how to cast. It was frustrating at first but with no option what was I to do? The fact that I had already paid for a week of fishing at El Salto proved to be a great incentive. It's been 15 months and I still struggle. Keep at it ,scaleface it will eventually come around.
  14. When I traveled, I always took some fishin gear. Was a good way to keep occupied and outa trouble........lol. good luck, Caylub.
  15. Thanks for the input fellas. I appreciate it........................Stitch
  16. Does anyone have any current info on the bass fishing at Kerr? I'm thinking of a 3-5 day trip down that way. I could also use any info on decent places to stay. Thanks , in advance.
  17. Thank you, FishingDaddy. That's exactly what I was afraid I might hear. I'm not hauling my boat down just some gear. I thought there might be some small lakes in the area fishable from shore. I very much appreciate your reply.
  18. Hey folks, I'm going to be in the John's Pass area for two weeks in March. Has anyone any suggestions os bass fishing around there at that time? Thanks for your input.
  19. I have done this. A few decades ago, this is exactly how I built confidence in plastic worms. I believe it's a great learning tool.
  20. Thanks for all the reccomendations , fellas. I'm taking it all into consideration. One more thing, these new micro guides, have any of you found that they are useful on such rods ?
  21. Being newly retired, I'm afraid cabin fever is gonna get to me this winter. I'm considering loading up my truck, driving south and being a fishin' bum from time to time. I might be interested in sampling some Florida fishing.
  22. I agree with the braid but I prefer a flouro leader. Just my personal preference.
  23. Yampa River brings back sweet memories. Never fished down around Grand Junction. Caught plenty of trout flyfishing, up in Steamboat. Thanks for bringing back those memories for me.
  24. Great fish. Still looking for my first 5 pound smallie.
  25. Welcome, Austin. Glad to have you join us. Good fortune to you.
