  1. X2 on the Ball Bearing swivels. Buy the good ones. That being said, the only time I use swivels is with spinning equipment. As far as some type of quick disconnect device, I don't use them. I found in the past that I tend to not check and retie knots as frequently. This has cost me fish.
  2. Ya gotta love seeing a youngster catch his first fish . WTG.
  3. I have found quite a few in-line spinners over the years. I don't use them, so I just threw 'em in an old baggie. I recently took a handful of them and put them into my reloading brass polisher and ran it overnight with the walnut media. The results were fairly good. I cut the old hooks off and put new split rings and hooks on them and gave them to the neighbor kids.
  4. Are any of you superstitious about catching a bass on the first cast? I am. When this happens, the fishing is usually very slow for me.
  5. I caught a few more today. Once again, I saw only one other fish caught. I'm going to keep rubbing it on my baits.
  6. I've been able to get out and fish the last two days. This is the first opportunity for me to use the Mega Strike original attractant. I applied it to black / blue craws and black / chartruese lizards. I caugt fish. There were no giants. .....................Did Mega Strike help....?? I was the only one that I saw catching anything.........................maybe it did, maybe not.................but it didn't hurt...........I'm anxious to see if my results are above the norm for me.
  7. I've had a similar situation. These manufacturers are always looking for a way to cut costs. More often than not, they dimish the quality of the original. I'm a Shimano guy and the last Curado I got isn't nearly as smooth as some that are 15 years old.
  8. He's an inspiration to everyone not just fishermen. An amazing individual.
  9. I went out on the back porch this morning to grind fresh coffee. At the sound of the electric grinder, there was an imediate response from several gobblers behind the barn. They continued to gobble for 4-5 minutes. Maybe this would make a good turkey call..........lol.
  10. Hello, rboat. I'm sitting here with my wife as I read your post. This question is right up her alley. She manages an optical office. Her suggestion is a pair of lenses that are polarized, anti-glare, in grey. They can be ground to fit any frames you may already have. There is also a product called "Cocoons" these fit entirely over another pair of glasses. They should sell for around $40. If you already have prescription glasses, this is your cheapest way to go. I believe these are what Dwight is referring to.
  11. Congradulations to your whole family, Christian. Enjoy and relish all these great days. May God continue to bless all of you.
  12. While bank fishing recently in Florida, I found lots of beds with fish on them. I though I'd died and gone to Heaven. Turns out they were all Talapia!!
  13. I have no experience with Ron Speed's operation. We fish from Angler's Inn. We've never had a "bad" trip. Though we are still looking for our first #10, ACTUALLY in the boat. Absolutely have never had any hint of safety issues. The service is better than on a cruise. The food and drink are great, limitless and inclusive. Jose, Sammy, Ramon, Jesus, Sergio, Betty.............the whole staff is incredible! I must admit that after chatting with them and seeing some of the "Scrounger's Club's" bass, we are considering a trip to Baccarac. Though, as stated earlier, there is a difference in cost. Wherever you decide to go, think about spending a couple more days than normal. The travel costs no more for a week than for 3 days. Take no line lighter than #20. If I ever figure out how to; I'll post some of our photos. LOL, that's the reason I have none on my (avatar...??)
  14. I bought a #20 spool for Mexico and had no issues.
  15. I have had them bleed into each other.
  16. Looks as if you did really well. Nice looking ride. Congradulations.
  17. Happy Birthday, Dwight. Enjoy many, many more.
  18. With the passing of Jose and Doug, God must be planning a tremendous fishing trip.
  19. My sources report sucess on brown and yellow hair jigs. This might help.
  20. WTG!!!!!! As stated already, you'll not forget that day, neither will he.
  21. Great trip guys! Andy, thanks for the post. Right now , I'm slobbering like " Pavlov's Dog ". Congradulations !!!!
  22. Paul, I asked about this lake in a post earlier this year and never got a response. I Wish I had some info for you.
  23. I haven't the slightest desire even to meet him. From my present perspective, I wouldn't want to spend time in a boat with him. On the other hand, I hated Mike Iaconelli when I first saw him. It only took an hour and a half with him to change my opinion 180 degrees.
  24. Cabela's Guidewear..............some of the best money I ever spent.
