  1. Large spooks or poppers, vary the cadence until you discover how they like it.
  2. I would make an effort to get permission first. Ask someone who's working on one of the homes under construction. They may know who you should see about permission. Asking first may pay dividends in the future. That's just the way I'd approach the situation.
  3. " mistake day"............I meant to say.......my worst day.
  4. I believe I now feel well enough to get my boat in the water this week. Hopefully I can do some "therapeutic fishing". I still have to catch a fish this year on one of the jigs that A-Jay sent me . .................Apparently, two days after chemo will be my mistake day...................next session of that will be on the 14th. Once again, I thank all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. You really can't imagine how much they are appreciated by my whole family. Take good care everyone. May God bless. Stitch
  5. That's great news . You and your family are in my prayers. I hope everything goes quickly and successfully and you get back on the water very soon.
  6. I carry a pair of scissor hemostats about 6 inches in length. They're great for cutting line close to the knot and for removing hooks. I'm not sure what the correct term is for them. When I find them at flea markets, I buy a couple pairs. They seem to be difficult to find.
  7. While at one of the local ponds yesterday, I saw a two foot snake trying to swallow a four inch bluegill. Dang, you just have to root for an overachiever!
  8. After repairing a "Seizmic Toad" with super glue. I stuck it between my lips while I fumbled around putting the cap back on to the glue. Yep, you guessed it. super glued the toad to my lips!
  9. While tuna fishing of N.C. we ended up in the midst of literally thousands of dolphins, as far as the eye could see. I've never seen such a migration. It left an indelible image on me. My sons-in-law still talk about that day. It was incredible!
  10. Welcome, Max. I believe you'll thoroughly enjoy this site. There are lots of great folks and information here.
  11. Hello ,everyone. I thought I'd give an update. Last Friday was my first chemotherapy. I had no idea what to expect. The process took a little over four hours. Upon exiting the hospital, I immediately felt tingling in my fingertips and had to put my hands into my pockets to protect them from the chilly wind. Saturday I felt pretty well. I went to town and did my normal amount of weekend running around. We attended afternoon Mass then went directly to my youngest grandson's birthday party. About 9PM I was exhausted. Sunday morning I awoke nauseous and extremely tired. I paid for Saturday's activity. Memorial Day brought a repeat of Sunday. I was the family anchor over the weekend. This morning I feel a little better. My wife and I are planning on going to the mall for a couple hours when she returns from work. Food doesn't taste good. I've noticed that I've dropped 6 pounds since Friday morning. Hopefully these side effects will diminish soon. Thanks again for all the prayers and good wishes for my family. You folks are the best! Stitch
  12. Dink Dawg reminded me of Skeeball at Asbury Park N.J. decades ago. We had a nickel soldered to a copper wire. My cousin and I played and collected tickets from that game for days. I was a rotten kid.
  13. You've come to the right place. The folks here are really helpful. Welcome and enjoy the site.
  14. Cool ! Gotta love a trip like that ! It's great that your wife fishes too . Liked the photos too.
  15. I promise, Dwight, I won't pump my rod. And I'll stay behind the transom .......lol.
  16. Thanks , Jeff. He suggested that we try again another time after things aren't in so much turmoil. By golly; I might just take him up on that. I just got back in from the first session of chemo. I have to see what if any side efffects there are and document them. Take good care. Stitch
  17. Wednesday I had the good fortune to fish with Dwight Hottle. Things didn't go quite as we'd figured but we had a great day. He loves fishing! His hospitality was wonderful. We soon were joking and laughing. We caught some nice fish of different species. I'm looking forward to having them on the grill. I wanted to publicly thank Dwight for being such a nice fella and for a memorable day.
  18. If this is your first baitcaster, I would definitely suggest a cheaper mono to start with. It will be cheaper in the long run.
  19. I'm very happy for you. That's a great looking rig, congradulations. It's a good life lesson you've learned , working hard for something and taking pride in that. Enjoy !!
  20. A black popper of some type with my own hand-tied feather tail. I lean toward Zell pops , Rio Ricos , and Yellow Magics.
  21. I spent this day fishing with my oldest, dearest accomplice. The dozens of bass were extremely cooperative though none over two pounds were caught. I had the opportunity to introduce him to bass fishing. We talked, we laughed, we relived 40 years of working together, we fished and talked some more. This took my mind off my recent news. It is amazing how much comfort can be derived from spending quality time with a great friend who cares. Thank God for those folks who take the time to be a real friend.
  22. This is the first year I've tried Megastrike. Three tubes were purchased a while ago but I've only tried the "Original". So far, I'm very well satisfied. The only minor problem I've had; is the tube split at the bottom seam.
  23. Congradulations on your rercovery and returning to something we all love. Continued success.
