  1. That's exactly why it's the home of the 10th Mountain Division.
  2. I'll still pull out an old Heddon "Crazy Crawler". Fish don't seem to understand that they're out of date.
  3. Thanks , Jeff. I really don't need any. I just happened to spill a bunch on the floor today and it got me to pondering the different colors.
  4. I just checked them out on Shimano's website. There are different part numbers for the red and the green. It said nothing about differing weights. Just a word of caution; don't drop any. They charge $0.43 a piece .................................
  5. Does anyone know if the centerfical weights packed in the shimano kits are of different weights ? They used to pack red and green ones. I just wondered if changing them around would affect the reel's performance.
  6. I'm doing well, Bill. As we've decided, it's all a bonus from this point forward. I'm looking to the Mexico trip in March. I think it'll be fun meeting some of the folks from the forums. You continue to be in my prayers. Be well , enjoy the Holidays, savor every moment................Todd, you are in my prayers as well. I'm glad your recovery is progressing nicely..............I hope this upcoming year is a banner one for all of us................Monday I have a cat scan, Tuesday I meet with both the oncologist and the surgeon. Keep your fingers crossed for me ...............I want to go into Christmas with a smile on my face. Stitch
  7. Keep it going. We're in your corner.
  8. Wow, Bill. That is profound. I totally agree. God bless you and yours. Merry Christmas. Stitch
  9. Welcome, Kevin. Congradts on your tournament success. There are a lot of good folk and great information here. Hopefully we'll all benefit from each other's experiences.
  10. They're great poppers. That's a really good price.
  11. Laurie, we can only do it with the support of family and great folks like you. In my case, my perspective has changed. Life is much sweeter. Hugs take on a much greater meaning.
  12. Livewell, has Hartwell bounced back from those years of protracted drought? I've wanted to make a trip down that way and give it a try. Thanks.
  13. Gary Klein explained it once at a Bassmaster University presentation. There apparently was a tactic used down south that involved very long poles and short line baited with pork rind. If I remember correctly; he refered to it as "dabbling". Guys were using this presentation and doing quite well with it. The question arose among tournament competitors, " how long a rod are we allowed" ? The ruling body was forced to make a decision. They came up with an 8' limit. This is the only explanation I've ever heard. I hope this helps.
  14. Congradts on the first drop shot fish. I'm certain they're will be many more. Confidence is half the battle.
  15. Awesome bass! Was she released?
  16. Maxima or Gamma
  17. Welcome to the site. Lots of good folks and info here.
  18. You can do it !! To quote another fisherman........................ .........." NEVER GIVE UP " !!!!
  19. Amen to the commercialism, Bill............... Is this Christmas feast the Italian tradition of all different types of seafood?................ Kit and I cooked all day on Thanksgiving. Then we transported it all to the hall where our family was celebrating. With my shrunken stomach and the fact that I'd been sampling everything through the day, I ate one quite small plateful of dinner.....................Stay in touch , Bill........Be well and happy. May God bless you and your family and friends with bountiful blessings. Stitch
  20. Is it a good idea to lubricate the joints on travel rods or not? If so, what should be used? I thought maybe some or you rod builders might have the answer, Thanks.
  21. Hang in there , Man. We're pullin' for ya!!
  22. Keep it up. I'm rooting for you.
  23. Thanks Dwight. I happened to run across a you tube video yesterday. In it the fella took two round chain saw files and secured both ends with shrink tube. Then he dropped a little superglue in between the files on both ends and on both sides. It basically turned out like longer version of the ones I had. I'm going to check out Rollie and Helen's and see that one as well.
  24. Alright ,folks, I need some help. Years ago I bought a small handful of hook sharpeners. They consist of a black and orange plastic handle which is relatively 2 1/2" square and roughly 3/8" thick. There are two sections of round file lying parallel in this handle. They work really well and are small and convenient. Over the years I've lost some given some away. I'd like to find some more but there is no name of any kind on them. Does anyone know who made these and if they're still available ? Thanks.
