  1. I agree, but where I live I don't have that problem, and the depth of any small pond is also a facor of holding large fish if there is a problem with water levels.... ~I actually prefer fishing ponds under 100 acres... But that's just me...
  2. Thank You!!! My PB also comes from a very small pond, even though my PB is 5lbs 11oz not 12lbs LOL....
  3. I have been to some really really good saltwater baitshops and also some very very bad baitshops ( based on knowledge not supplies)... I think my favorite baitshops that I have been to are small shops in florida right on the ICW, thier knowledge seem to be great and definatley didn't do the classic " that lure is working real well" and its $40, I liked these baitshops especially because the guys who owned them fished basically every day after shop hours and sometimes before... Just a few months ago I was at the Cape Cod Canal and we went into a baitshop... After looking around and what not we asked the man working how the fishing was and what they were hitting, he said "You gotta match the bait".... Thanks for the tip! LOL! A week later we went to the same shop and a different man was working there, it appeared to be the father of the man from the week before. We asked the same thing and he said " Oh with the tide going towards the west end blah blah blah, the fish should be between 264 and 275" (The telephone poles that go alon the canal are numbered). So this guy pretty much gave us an exact spot at where these fish would be... After arriving there we hooked up with 3 keepers, this guy definatley knew what he was talking about....

    Barracuda

I checked out those tubes, others have also suggested them...
  5. I'm talking atleast an acre or so.... If you take a Largemouth from a 4 acre pond and put it in a 300 acre pond that really isn't going to drastically change the size or growth rate of the fish if both areas have lots of bait...
  6. I belive that there is a world record lurking around here in the United States. IMO its lurking in cali, florida, georgia.... ~I think the water body size means almost nothing, besides how its oxyenated and the bait that's in and or goes in the water... Whats the most important thing is the fishing pressure, if the world record bass is in a place where people rarely fish it will contue to grow if its healthy. My PB came from a pond that is less than 4 acres....
  7. What reports are you reading?LOL
  8. When I was real young I LOVED Jeff Gordon, here is a pic from when I was 4years old.....
  9. I opened it because I was concerned that the forum was going down hill... LOL
  10. Great Point, If your using the right setup any fish can put up a fight that is appreciated... Whether it be an ultra light for panfish... Or deap sea gear for tuna....
  11. If your talking literally "catch fisherman" than it was a Rapala X-Rap... The twist is it caught a fisherman and a bass in the same cast....(the fisherman being myself) It was a summer afternoon and I hadn't hooked a good bass in a few weeks. After fishing maybe 20 minutes I hooked into a solid 3 pounder. As it got closer to the boat I began to get more excited, as I heaved the fish into the conoe I dropped it and the lure proceeded to go directly in to my thigh. Not only that but the fish was also on the lure still and was flailing like crazy... As my 11 year old sister laughs at me I experience a terrible pain(LOL). We finally got the fish off the lure and it swam off, we then swam off to the ER because I STILL had this lure in my leg. After waiting about 30 minutes in the hospital we are taken a room. After waiting another 15 minutes a doctor arrives holding a pair of pliers. He goes right ahead and rips it out of my leg... Wasn't to bad but I wanted to share my story...

    PB Striper

    From the album: Fish 3

This striper was caught on my dad's friend's boat late spring, early summer. We began the day catching some mackeral on sabikis and then trolled them live with 4 setups... After a nice fight I landed the 27lbs striper and it was released shortly after....
  13. Regular old worms get the job done.... Catch them all day doing that with a float or not, just for the heck of it my dad and I did this and we caught maybe 30 panfish including my first crappie in 45min... If your in a "fishing drought" this will boost morale a bit, I suprisingly founf it somewhat entertaining... ~Definatley not as entertaining as da' bass...
  14. SLUG-Os!!!!!! ~Lunker City
  15. Last year I actually did a science project on that last year for my science class... My experiment was based on the moon phase and whetther this had an effect on fishes activity, I did not come out with any conclusive evidence that suggested that fish were more active during certain moon phases after about 3 months of testing... ~Got an A+ on the presentation and report.... The easiest A+ ever (fishing for school LOL!)
  16. Well if I were to catch the 12 pound LMB in NH than I would take that because it would be the state record, lol... Besides that I would take a 7 pound smallie, the biggest LM ive caught is a 5lbs 11oz, and only a 2.5 pound smallie.
  17. Thanks, I really wish I could go back down there before it gets to cold. Never knew there were pike in the housatonic until I found that website...
  18. Sadly, I think I'm done bass fishing for the year... Too cold, might go for trout again, or drive down south a bit to get some stripers... ~Then Feb vacation were going to Florida for some saltwater fishing...
  19. That's exactly where I went... Great people indeed, like I said can't wait to get back down there.... Love smallie fishing in the housatonic... ~By the way those trout were caught in the shepaug... Do you know where that is? My gramp lives right on the river.
  20. Didn't get to try flyfishing this weekend. My friend did but didn't get any, we found a very nice hole in a stream that is like 15 yards across maximum. Only 2 minute walk from my gramps house, excited to get back down there in the spring... ~We did stop in a fly shop down their and he showed us a picture of a 22" brownie he caught in the same stream... ~I'm definatley going to start targeting trout more often, besides stripers and freshwater bass....
  21. Nice job Tuckahoe, and nice job SirSnook.... Today I was targeting brown trout in small streams and we came out with some decent ones...
