Okeechobee was a bunch of fun!!! Lots of smaller fish and I got one 5 pounder, we were fishing in HEAVY cover it was a blast! After my 5 we went even deeper hoping to find the true giant but came out with nothing bigger, still a blast! And it was nice to break in my T3 Ballistic with 65# braid down there...
Okeechobee Thursday, and it is already pushing 80 degrees! Hooked up with a small snook last night but my drag wasn't properly set so she got away... I'll update as much as I can...
Exactly, I have taken creature baits and ripped them in half with success...
The Rage menace and craw are my favorites for swim jigs as well. Sometimes when I'm throwing a 1/4 or 3/8oz swim jig in heavy cover I like to put on a Rage grub and pop the jig through the cover.... MAGIC!!!
The abu garcia vengeance is an inexpensive rod but the quality is definitely there! I think it is $50 or $60, mine is currently sitting at the bottom of spoonwood lake so that's that LOL!
I'll be fishing Okeechobee on Thursday the 27th with Captain Shane Procell, it will be my first time on Okeechobee and I'm pumped! I'll be doing more saltwater fishing sadly just because it's more convenient for me and don't want to bring down bass gear... Hopefully I'll have some nice pics for you guys!
And my second biggest bass of my life was at night, and in mid October on a spook...
Stripers, same thing I like to stick a heavy heavy jig on the bottom or throw a topwater or a bait that stays less than a foot under water...
Then the night of my PB, I didn't throw one topwater bait but we caught 4 fish totaling 18lbs 3 oz during a full moon in an hour and a half!
Sinnerbaits- colorado blade. Jigs- upgrade trailer size, rattles are preferable at night (If you are texas rigging use larger plastics) . Topwater- frogs, poppers, prob baits, chatter baits, wake baits, etc.
My favorites at night are topwater baits and jigs! They'll definitely do the trick!
I'm in NH and have fished it the past two years, I started the team when I was a sophomore, PM me! The first year was a trial, and this year was the first real season. We came in 3rd in the qualifying tournament and a somewhat disappointing 7th in the championship, hoping to win it this time around!
Rage craw or baby craws are my favorites... Rage grubs, twin tail grubs, chunks, and shellcrakcers are good too... I have yet to use a shellcracker as a trailer but am eager to this year... The strike king 3X ElazTech Denny Brauer Chunk is a nice producer as well!
That's great! Our high school bass fishing teams tournaments are in the fall, a friend and I started it up last year... It's sanctioned as an official high school sport in NH, the tournaments that are put on are sweet! Lots of local guys who help out which is great to see, hope your team does well!
