My past two outings were very successful, Sunday two buddies and I got 20 fish between 2-3lbs with a 3.7 being the biggest. Yesterday I returned to the spot and got 5 fish all over 2lbs biggest being 4.4 read on an old spring scale.

I was dragging a weightless rage bug over a secluded section of pads and all of a sudden all of them rose and I knew something big was getting ready to strike. I killed the bait and immediately saw my line take off. I set the hook with to much slack out and as I tried to reel the extra line in to get a better hookset I saw her launch into the air. It was the biggest head and gut on a bass I'd ever seen, she was an absolute GIANT.. I really think it was at least pound bigger than my PB

Lost the biggest bass of my life today, PB would have been broken without a doubt... Til next time

First frog fish of the year was a good one! It went 3.7, the fish were going nuts yesterday morning on top..

These were caught within a few days of each other both on a swim jig with a rage craw, left one went 4.7 and the right went 5.7, not sure why the right photo is turned but she's there..

I've been finding most of my fish in 2-3' of water, these are smaller bodies that must be a few degrees warmer than bigger places.. I struggled in a larger spot I was fishing which could have been for a number of reasons but I definitely noticed a water temp difference just from touch. I probably wasn't fishing deep enough in this spot and should have probably slowed down a bit.. I ended up going back to where I had some success a few weeks ago and nailed this 4.71 pounder on the same swim jig...

This was the first year that I was able to nail some fish before they started to do their business.. My first day of bassin' action came on a 70 degree day where I was slowly working a Catchem Caro Uncle Many Minnow which got me six fish 2 of which were above 3 pounds and I got to lay my eyes on a BEAST that ended up spitting it right under the canoe. The action was slow and steady for 2 hours then I struggled to get back on them. Today was my other real notable day, one fish but a 5.66 pounder on 1/4 oz SK swim jig with a Rage craw on the back. She slammed it and the hook was buried in the top of the mouth.. Here are some photos trying to keep after 'em!

Had the scale on me this time thankfully and read 5.66 trying to stay after em! Not sure why this one is sideways either, my buddy has to send me the photo he took..

No scale but this was a THICK fish, biggest of the year for me, action is going to start getting real good!

Stopped at a spot on my way home from class and nailed 3 fish, two nice chunks then then this THICK fish.. No scale but definitely my biggest of the year so far. Both came on crawling a keel weighted soft swimbait..

Had a beast of a fish get off right under the canoe on my second cast of the outing but I still nailed some nice chunky pre-spawn fish to make up for it.. Stuck with the catchem caro uncle manny minnow and got 6 fish that morning, water is still pretty cold up here..

Fished Friday and Saturday mornings with much better success for Friday.. I caught 6 fish in the first hour and had a BEAST of a fish get off under the canoe on my second cast. I did get to see her and she had a mouthful of swimbait and weeds until coming off. I would have been more dissapointed if I didn't get a few 3.5 pounders to eat up but the action was great. All of the fish came on the catchem caro uncle manny minnow..

Got out for a few hours on Wednesday and got one bite, went 3.58 pounds.. I was crawling a T-Rigged cut tail worm probably 10-20yards offshore in one of the deeper spots along the shoreline. After catching and releasing the fish I anchored on shore and saw about a dozen or more dead 3" silver baitfish that I could not identify. For one thing it had me wondering what they were, and secondly how and why there was a number of them dead. Some looked like had been banged up by something in the water but not all of them. It had me interested considering this was the one spot where I had gotten hit all day. I theorized that there was either a ball of bait that some bass had run through and killed a decent amount in the process or the people living on the lake tossed some dead bait in the water. I have no idea. They were skinny silver fish no more than 3". All in all ready to get back out on the water!

Fishing was pretty tough on Okeechobee, morning was tough and really foggy but as soon as the sun started to show through the clouds we got on a pretty good bite for a few hours but not too much size.. I will admit we fished with golden shiners for part of the day and ended up catching the biggest fish just under 6lbs. After that bite shut off we were fishing in transition areas in the middle of the grass, reeds, pads, etc. with soft swimbaits swimming them on top. We landed around 10 small ones and got one real good bite but she dug herself into the thick stuff and couldn't motor over in time. Great trip regardless

Going to Florida for the weekend, gonna try and get on Okeechobee for a day but will be wetting a line or two regardless..

Flyfisherman and I are definitely going to try to pull something up when he's back... Just discussing where we are going to go, this will be the latest I've been out on the water in NH but am certainly willing to test the fish!

WOOOW! That is something else A-Jay, what a fish! Way to capture the moment too man, congrats!

Definitely a tough day, for me at least... Tried my first spot for about 4 hours with no givers just some perch nibbles and then moved on and got tossed around by the wind in my 2nd spot.

I'm gonna be on the water all day Friday and will be sure to share what I find...
