  1. I've stayed away from the lake recently and have just fished the WPB canal system. LGMthGambler you should try Ida or Osborne early before the jetskis come out(usually around 1-2 from my experience. Instead of going all the way to Lake O you could probably do better in these tough conditions. More variety of cover, docks, etc. Peas are back sort of, clown knifefish(if you are lucky), and a 4 pounder is not unusual just about every day. There are much bigger fish as well, my biggest so far out of Lake Pine(WPB airport lake) has been an 8 a few years ago. I'll head to the Lake when its time.
  2. Never fished Grassy, but have fished Placid, June-In-Winter and Istokpoga. Some of the lakes in that area are very deep. Placid has around a 50 ft depth in the middle, but I don't know Grassy at all. It looks nice, but so do the rest of the lakes in Highlands county! There is a Triton dealer in town, they also have some tackle as well. Stop in there when you get to town and see if Norm can give you some info.
  3. 5ish. Nice job from the bank.
  4. Small crankbaits will work too. They are more active in low light conditions or if its sunny try fishing in the shade(bridges.etc). I have caught a few of them in Lake Pine(Cloud Lake, WPB Airport). Initial strike is good but they do not fight hard for very long. They do jump though! You can observe dozens of large ones rolling the surface gulping air in the summer months. Deeper cooler water seems to be better too, main canals under bridges would be your best bet. Just another unfortunate exotic though.
  5. Bumping this for my SECOND post. Hello everyone! Current lake level is 15.77 feet. They are have been pumping it down every day and it keeps climbing. Isaac was the most unbelievable drenching I have ever seen. Simply incredible.
  6. That's awesome! First post guys, so go easy on me when I say I have had a similar day out there as well. Five or six years ago the buoys were down at one of the spillways. Deep cranking 8 pounders at Lox. I guessed that we had at least 6 fish over 8 pounds, most were solid 3.5 - 5 pounds. Glad to hear that place is producing.
