  1. Always good to give to charity. Especially this time of year. My girlfriend works at Kmart and found 2 paper tags that were for some sort of toy drive. They said to attach them to a toy and drop the toy off at this church. She didn't want someones kids to have to go without so she bought a couple of toys herself and took them to the church. Plus we always give money to the salvation army. You know. Those guys outside of Walmart ringing their bells. I read an article about a guy in New York who was dressing up like Santa and going around giving out gifts to kids whose homes were devastated by Sandy. Many of those children lost a lot more than just thier toys and this guys going above and beyond to make their holiday a little happier. I need to get myself a smart phone. My current phone makes calls and sends texts. I can take pics too but can't send picture messages. Very true. We should be thankful for everything in our lives. There are many people out there that don't have a roof over there heads or anything to eat. Its easy to take things like these for granted when you become so used to them. Sorry if my original post came across as shallow or greedy. When it comes to Christmas Im like a big kid.
  2. My girlfriend went to bed early and I was too lazy to make myself something. Dinner tonight was a handful of Hersheys kisses with almonds and some Hersheys Cookies and Cream Santa Clauses.
  3. Good job man. I don't mind seeing some smaller fish since Im fishing through you guys until the bite picks up again around here.
  4. Glad you guys had a good trip. Next time lets see some pics!
  5. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  6. Welcome!
  7. Ill probably do the beer before the legos. The end product might come out a bit lopsided though with quite a few extra pieces left over.
  8. Oh yeah. I got a fishing calender too. And X's 2 about spending time with family. It was good to see my brothers and sister. I rarely get too since I moved. My one brother got a bunch of Bass Pro cards too and is gonna meet up with me next week and we are gonna head over there together.
  9. Sounds like good practice but hopefully you don't accidently hook something.
  10. Firstly, merry Christmas to eveyone! Secondly, since (among other things) its a day for giving and recieving gifts, what'd you guys get? Anything good? Also did you give any gifts to anyone that were particularly good/special? This year, it was just my girlfriend and I and we were a bit short on money but I still had a good Christmas. I got: A pair of Berkley Fish Grip Gloves A plastic fish cleaning board with a metal girpper thing that holds the fish in place 2 6-packs of Southbend Inline Spinners for trout (not the best brand but they still catch fish and they're cheap if I lose them) A really nice sweatshirt with a picture of a bass hitting a spinnerbait New underwear (desperately needed) New sweatpants for sitting around the house (my girlfriend calls them my fat pants) A $25 Bass Pro giftcard Lots of candy I got my girlfriend a lot of stuff she asked for but her favorite present I got for her was a surprise. A handmade scarf made from alpaca wool. Its really really soft and she loved the color. Then we went to my Mom's and I got: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Assassins Creed 3 2 more $25 Bass Pro cards Lots more candy Check for $100 from my grandma Going on a Bass Pro shopping spree next week. Hope you all had a great Christmas!
  11. I can't stand fruitcake but my grandma LOVES it. Each Christmas she gets so many fruitcakes that she can basically eat on them all year long until next Christmas. Its actually a bit ridiculous and probably not too healthy.
  12. Ha! The japanesse lady made it kind of funny. Like you said, I wouldn't purposely run an animal over but sometimes its unavoidable. I ran over a skunk a couple weeks ago. He was moving across the road at a good pace and I thought for sure he'd be off the road by the time I got up there but he decided to stop right in front of my tire. Theres a lot of deer around here and sometimes they'll be standing on the side of the road and wait for you to get right on top of them before running out in front of you. Last year when we went on vacation we were sitting in an outdoor eatery and there were quite a few familys throwing food to the seagulls. There were signs everywhere that said 'don't feed the birds'. They were swarming and swooping all over the place. I just kept thinking "if I get pooped on..." But I don't blame the seagulls. I wouldn't mind running over some stupid people though.
  13. I love Legos and Star Wars. And I get free BBQ and beer on top of that? Im all about this! You paying for the roundtrip plane ticket to Florida too? Maybe Ill squeeze some fishing in when Im done!
  14. Hello and welcome!

  19. Hello and welcome!
  20. Welcome to BR!
  21. Dunno about Xmas Eve yet. Were hitting the grocery store tonight. Had a couple of bacon cheeseburgers last night with tater tots and baked mac and cheese with bacon bits. Pretty basic but still a great dinner as far as Im concerned.
  22. Hello and welcome!
  23. I actually haven't watched any bass fishing shows. Animal Planet has 2 I like. 'River Monsters' where the guy goes around the world catching everything from piranah to goliath tiger fish and 6ft freshwater stingrays. They also recently ran another show called 'Off the Hook: Extreme Catches'. The host is actually a professional wrestler with a passion for fishing. That show is a bit different then most fishing shows. He goes around the US trying out different unorthodox methods of fishing that people actually use. Like fishing for sharks from a paddleboard, spearfishing for jack crevales, and even using little remote control boats for fishing in small lakes. Plus the guys kind of a goof so its good for a laugh too.
  24. Yeah it sucks. I was going out a couple times a week and now its been a couple weeks since I went out. Waters not frozen but the bass bite has really died off. I can still go after trout and probably will a couple more times this winter but its getting pretty cold and windy. Fishing isn't quite as fun when your freezing and the winds taking your lure into a tree every other cast.
  25. My power flickered a couple hours ago but I think it was just cuz of the wind. Its gusting up to 30mph but nothing apocolyptic thus far. Looks like Im going to work today. Agreed. Society sucks. Maybe the world can end for everyone else and just leave the fisherman and the bass.
