  1. That sounds a lot like me. 1/4 oz Spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, frogs, and t rigs mostly. I really do like bank fishing and I guess since I usually only have an hour or 2 in the mornings, a boat would really be more trouble than its worth on those days. But I just feel like I'm missing out on so much of the lake.
  2. One of my favorite shows. The wait til next season is going to be excruciating. They just came out with the Walking Dead video game. Thinking about picking that up to hold me over til the show starts up again. I also want to read the comics. Barnes and Noble has the first 2 compendiums for like 35 bucks a piece.
  3. Nice way to get your season started off...congrats!
  4. Sorry to hear your first trip of the season didn't go so well. This stupid weather needs to make up its mind. It doesn't know whether it wants to be snowing or 60 and sunny.
  5. Varied responses as I expected. I'd like to try wading but there are 'no swimming/wading' signs all over my lake so I guess that's out. I think this season I'm gonna try and use more baits that the local tackle shops don't carry. Maybe give the fish something that aren't used to seeing every day. Hopefully that will make a bit of difference. This guy I work with and fish with sometimes keeps talking about getting a boat. It sure would be nice to get off the bank.
  6. Wow man...I don't think I've ever seen so many monster fish in one thread. Congrats to the 3 of you!

  9. What's your average bank fishing trip like? Some guys talk about 50 fish days and more but I'm assuming this is mainly from a boat with electronics and access to the whole lake. When you fish from the bank, how many do you usually catch and how long are you fishing for? Also maybe describe the body of water your fishing or better yet post some pics showing the spots you fish. For me, I usually get to the lake just before sunrise and fish for about 2 hours or so and I get about 2-3 fish per trip. I feel like I'd do better if there was more fishable shoreline. It's a 50 acre lake with an average depth of about 5 feet and lots of thick weeds all the way around. The only spots to fish are the dam (when there isn't water flowing over it which isn't often), 2 small areas along the bank of the creek below the dam, the boat ramp, a small bridge over a lane of water between 2 weed lines, and another small pond which won't be accessible once spring/summer hit and all the vegetation grows in. 10. Squarebill. Spinnerbaits are starting to become a close second.
  11. Awesome fish!

  15. I lost a big one last time I went. I was fishing a crankbait along a weedline and something hit it. I set the hook and started reeling but it didn't seem like I was getting anywhere and it didn't really feel like whatever was on the other end was moving so I thought I was just caught in the weeds. But as soon as I let up a little on it, I felt whatever was on the other end start to shake and before I could put pressure back on, it was off. Whatever it was had some weight to it too. Hopefully tomorrow I can land it.
  16. That's too funny!
  17. Congratulations! Now get a fishing rod in that kid's hand ASAP!
  18. Nice man! I'm planning on going out for an hour or 2 in the morning. Wouldn't mind hooking into a 4 pounder myself.
  19. Nice fish man...WTG!
  20. If your bank fishing, find a nice open area with as few snags as possible. I spend an awful lot of time getting my girlfriends lures out of trees.
  21. Whenever I'd go camping as a kid, my parents always just brought cereal with plastic bowls/spoons. But then we were always camping in a camp ground and ice was readily available so keeping the milk cold wasn't an issue. If your like wilderness camping, this probably won't work so well.
  22. Caught my first Rage Tail fish ever yesterday on a Shellcracker. I also tried out the Eeliminator. I gotta say I LOVE the action on these. Whether its the buzzing action of the tail when you burn it on top or the slow subtle back and forth twitch that it has when fished slow just below the surface, I just know this is gonna catch me some fish when the topwater bite picks up. I'll definitely be picking up a few more RT products!
  23. Welcome to BR!
  24. I agree with this. I don't think I've ever heard it used here in a negative way.
