  1. For senkos and spinners, I'd think you would be ok with mono. It's my understanding (and I'll admit I could be mistaken) that braids main attributes are its strength and sensitivity. It's better for fishing in heavy cover, feeling bites/what's on the bottom of the lake, and setting thicker hooks like on a big jig. Almost every time a bass has hit one of my spinnerbaits, he's hit it like a truck so you shouldn't have much of a sensitivity issue there and I wouldn't think you'd be using a very thick hook with your senkos so braided line may be overkill. Like I said, I'm no expert. Just my opinion. See what others have to say about braid.
  2. I use mono. Don't really have experience with braid. But if you do end up using braid, you can use a heavier line because the line diameter of braid is thinner than that of mono. Basically, if a reel is rated for 130yds of 10 pound mono, it can hold an equal amount of say, 30 or 40 pound braid.
  3. You don't necessarily need a baitcaster. If your comfortable with your spinning gear, you could just get a heavier combo. Like Revival and SirSnookalot said, medium or medium heavy rod. Get a 6.2:1 reel with some 10-12 pound line and you should have a pretty good all around bass combo. If you do decide to go with a baitcaster, I'd recommend the Abu Garcia BlackMax combo. You can get the at Dick's or WalMart and its within your $100 dollar budget.
  4. Awesome song! Whenever it comes on the radio I crank it all the way up and can't help but sing along.
  5. Congrats on a good trip!

  10. This is what I was thinking. Something like a Zoom Swimming Super Fluke.
  11. I've had quite a few experiences. About 6 years ago, I moved into my girlfriend's (now my wife) house. Shortly after I moved in, some weird stuff started happening. Not really scary and it never felt threatening or anything like that. Just kind of weird. It's possible this one wasn't paranormal. We were laying in bed watching TV and getting ready to go to sleep when the TV just randomly turned off by itself. The remote was on the nightstand so it's not like we leaned on it or something. The TV did have a sleep function but a 30 second timer would always pop up if it was gonna turn off and this time it didn't. It really took us by surprise. I don't think I ever moved as fast as I did to jump up and grab the pull string on the light. One time my wife was in the bedroom putting clothes away when she heard someone calling one of our dog's names. I wasn't there but she said the dog's ears pricked up and he got a confused look on his face. She even looked out the window to see if maybe there was someone outside who she could have overheard but there was no one there. She said the voice sounded both distant but in the room with her at the same time. Another time we were in bed and I was giving her a back rub when I felt something pinch my big toe. Felt like someone grabbed my big toe with their thumb and index figure and gave it a little squeeze. I turned to her and said 'what are you pinching me for'. She looks at me like I'm nuts and says 'what are you talking about?' That's when I realized she was laying on her hands and they were nowhere near my feet. Weird... Then there was the time we were both in the kitchen getting ready to eat dinner. We were both standing at the counter making our plates when we heard footsteps coming up the basement stairs. There was no one down there but, clear as day, it sounded like someone was coming up the steps. The top step would always make a very distinct sound and we definitely heard it. We both looked at each other and then looked at the basement door cuz we could swear it was gonna open. It didn't but if it had, I wouldn't have been surprised. Another time I was in the basement by myself watching TV. I got up, got a popsicle out of our big chest-style freezer in the back of the basement (there's a wall that separating the front/back), and sat back down. A couple minutes later I heard a sound like something falling over or being dropped so I got up to see what it was. Her son had a carved wooden Thompson Submachine Gun that his grandfather made for him and somehow it was sitting on top of the freezer. I was just in that freezer. I had just closed the lid and I'm quite certain that the toy gun wasn't there when I walked back to the front of the basement. I even picked it up and dropped it a couple times. Made the exact same sound. I just sort of chuckled and went back to watching TV. My wife told me nothing like that ever happened until I moved in. Who knows? Maybe some ghost didn't like another man being in the house. Like I said, nothing terrifying. Just some weird occurrences that I can't seem to explain.

  17. Sometimes (a lot of times) I'll miss a fish on a hookset in which case I'll yell 'look out!' or 'duck!' because there's something with hooks on it flying through the air.
  18. Never had it fresh but I love the Gorton's frozen breaded tilapia fillets. See if you can catch a few and fry em' up!
  19. Nice video/fish! I liked the camera angle. My eyes were glued to the computer screen waiting/watching for the strike.
  20. Sounds like a fun trip! My wife loves to fish with me but I'm not letting her anywhere near a baitcaster. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
  21. Happy birthday man and congrats on an some really nice fish! All I got on my birthday was a couple of 8-10 inch largemouth
  22. Welcome!
