  1. There is no one selling a reel in this thread. Simply folks trying to figure out what one is worth.
  2. You can find the NRX line for around or under $400 and the GLX line between $300-350. The MBR rods are versatile rods so you can use them for different applications. Could get one or two of those and add in some cheaper rods for moving baits.
  3. Those ribbed paddle tail trailers are the Keitech Fat Impact. Sizes are 3.3, 3.8, and sometimes larger depending upon the desired intentions or size of jig.
  4. I have only owned and fished rods from the classic IMX series, new GLX series, and NRX series. Only handled GL2/3 rods. With that said for the $ to performance I dont feel that the rods under the GLX line are worth it. For $250 and under there are better rod choices available IMO. However I have heard good things about the E6X rods so I would probably try one but just not a fan of the rods accent colors.
  5. On the 90 size I fish it 100% stock, hooks and all. Never had an issue to speak of.
  6. I specialize in being general!
  7. No experience myself with the reel but among the guys I know that fish Stella and Steez spinning reels the consensus seems to be that the Stella is the superior reel and this is even from die hard Daiwa reel guys. I am sure your Steez will be a great reel nonetheless.
  8. Member "Finzz" here does. I know he has a few I-Rods. Maybe he will see this and offer his thoughts.
  9. Anything noteworthy or just sort of what is to be expected for those of that don't have a copy of the article for reference?
  10. So if you have say 8 rods you can just talk to the boater and get the scoop on how they plan on fishing so you can take the 5 you feel would be best matches. For example do they anticipate a deep off shore bite or a lot of shoreline cover fishing. You may find you can shuffle things as well depending upon the season. I have zero use for my jerkbait rod during the summer when the weeds take over. I also have no use for my frogging rod late in the fall or early spring. If you can afford to have more combos on hand then you need you can just pick and choose what to bring based upon lake, conditions, time of year or what your boater does. Going in with 5 rods most guys should be able to catch fish.
  11. I like Northstar, Dirty Jigs, Lockjaw and 6th Sense.
  12. Max casting distance is influenced by pairing the right rod, reel, and line together combined with the anglers own ability. Backing off a tension knob too much isn't going to help you gain distance as the spool will not be seated properly and be too lose to where there will be too much side to side play. Set it too tight and you choke off a good bit of distance plus the small pad inside the cast control cap will wear that much more prematurely. The actual breaking systems in most reels will either be some sort of centrifugal, magnetic, dual breaking (combining both systems), or Digital or DC. There is so much that could be written on which is best or which will cast the furthest. Sometimes you will find a correlation between what some would consider really good casting distance and a reel being finicky. On the flipside reels with more control will likely lack distance to an extent. There is always the debate of what is considered practical casting distance for most fishing situations vs what is considered fun and likely not that needed. I have a few outfits that can put a jig a good ways out but at the same time the further the cast the tougher it is to get a good hookset.
  13. We all know how many reels you own so getting another rod only helps balance everything out a bit.
  14. 2 and 3 are interchangeable IMO. I would likely get rid of one and consider a 2nd spinning rod. I would want something for neds and dropshots and another for tubes and shakeyheads. Just my $.02. Most of the time for smallie fishing I feel like I am using 50% casting and 50% spinning.
  15. If that is all you have used from both manufactures you will likely be impressed by Kistler rods.
  16. What Loomis and Shimano rods are you using?
  17. Since that is sort of a mag finesse combo you are building I would look at the Daiwa Alphas SV 105. Reel is on sale at TW as well. It is simply amazing for what you want to throw and with the sale is a great deal. If you can snag the 7:2.1 ratio I would probably go that direction.
  18. I have a few that have crossed the lines. Not a big deal to me. My favorite is an Alphas SV 105 on a Cumulus rod.
  19. No idea, I have used PostImage for all my photo sharing needs. Free, easy to use, you can resize the photos, then just copy the link in your post and you are set.
  20. I would never dump over and start again. For one I am not sponsored nor will I ever be as I dont fish competently or for YouTube viewers. For two, many of the rods I value so much are discontinued or custom. Finding them or building them again should I not like my "new" rods would be tough and costly. I add new rods and we'll rods occasionally but usually a few things a year. Not as much as the guys always buying and selling gear.
  21. The realimage Cabelas jointed swimbaits look near identical but the color is not close to that unless it was a discontinued color. Could be BPS or maybe an Academy sports brand bait as well. I have something similar in a pumpkinseed color that was a Cabelas bait. Tossed it once, but it liked to helicopter on the cast. Didn't throw it since.
  22. Looks like a store brand swimbait. I would venture to guess Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops. Not 100% sure
  23. Doesn't make sense to me. It is like saying the smoking hot fat chick!
  24. I have been able to take this a step further. I can even tell the gender.
