  1. The problem is not the substance in and of it self is bad, rather the red color and dye left behind. I can see the logic as in the color will allow someone to see where the product has been applied and where it has not. I watched a friend use it in a few of his reels for a year. He said it seemed to have made a mess of the insides in terms of dying things. It required more of a detailed cleaning to remove it. If colored dye in reel oils was that great or beneficial you would see more companies using it.
  2. What the heck is a "step cat"? Is that a cat from another marriage?
  3. This is pretty close to mine as well give or take the # test used.
  4. I would never use hot sauce ever again. Anymore I only use Hedgehog Studios oils or Shimano Bantam oil.
  5. -Two TW orders for restocking purposes -Two jig orders
  6. I have some on order from TW. I also have dozens of packs on hand from years before. I will check to see if I can notice anything different like a softer or harder plastic.
  7. Nice! ^ You must have really totaled quite a bit of $. They didn't throw a red and black action figure in my order.
  8. My Siebert order may take longer. Mike is probably still mining lead!
  9. Apparently nothing else in your eyes. The blank is only part of the equation. While they are nice there are still many companies offering very nice rod lines around $200. MB Levante, Dobyns Champion when on sale, Phenix Recon, Avids and the list goes on. When you say complete rod lines how many rods are you looking for? You only mention about 4 rods but when I see "complete rod lines" I think of many more techniques. The Dobyns Champion line has everything covered from punching, to swimbaits, to finesse. You won't find that kind of diversity in the KLX series.
  10. Personally I consider supertuning to be the polishing of the friction points of casting reel. Generally I think of new bearings and drag washers as "upgrades" since you are replacing stock parts with new aftermarket parts. Flushing spool bearings and a thorough cleaning are more of maintenance thing. It means different things to different folks similar to describing the characteristics of a rod.
  11. Fast or Extra Fast depending upon the rod and the manufacturer. I use both for jig and worm fishing.
  12. Nice catching! Going to need to train that dog to use a net!
  13. For Shimano or Daiwa spinning reels I would get the 1000 or 2000 size, as I would be fishing 6-8# line max.
  14. Congrats sir!
  15. Their Memorial and Labor Day sales have been 15% for a few years now per a Google Images search.
  16. It is hard to beat TW for your one stop shoping simply put the inventory, price, color options are as great and diverse as one can find. They only have 20% off for their BF sale. All other sales are either 10-15% off. From my understanding you can buy a gift card and then use it later for one of their sales. That should give you about 20-25% off so it should be as good or better than what you have now. Perhaps their policy has changed on redeeming gift cards around the holidays but it should still work from my understanding. Are you looking on getting anything particular or just sort of restocking on a wide range of items?
  17. Generally when I can't fish, I wait for someone to post what is the best $100 rod or reel.
  18. I fish quite a few of jerkbaits from budget level to higher end. I would be happy if I only used LC pointer 78 and 100 series baits for the rest of my life. Color selection, castability, action, hooks, and availability make them my jerkbait of choice. Generally I prefer something in a baitfish color with plenty of flash.
  19. Couldn't find the Dobyns Extreme rods on there nor are there many LC pointer colors left. Their inventory is always poor at best.
  20. This man has used a lot of reels and spools for BFS, especially Shimano reels. He is a true finesse guy and has been using finesse rigs for many years. He would be a great resource for BFS info!
  21. Sadly that has been happening for quite some time. For example going back to the days where gangs would wear their "colors", often times using apparel from various sports teams.
  22. That is a very good price. I would imagine you can buy a set of the D7 gears should you choose to.
  23. Congrats man! Just don't let those bass catch you using the pink rods!
  24. Good deal! How much did you pay for it?
  25. I hear a lot of serious ice folks opt for the Thorne Bros custom ice rods. They are quite spendy for ice rods but I am sure similar to high end open water rods in terms of performance and build quality.
