  1. You would think they potentially could on paper. An athletic shot blocker and a true low post scorer. Say hypothetically they take Simmons number one. I don't feel like one player will change a 1 win team that much. IMO you have to have either 2 superstars or 3 really good all star type of players to make it. Preferebly a good forward//center and a good guard. I think if they added a really good scorer to compliment Okafor for that would help some as it appears that the NBA still lacks defense and offense rains king. The other thing to consider is if Okafor wants out of his contract after 3 years or whenever it ends he will likely be looking for a winning team if there aren't pieces added to make the Sixers better between now and then. He was on a dominant high school team and obviously a Duke team that one it all. He isn't used to losing like this...
  2. Looks good though I am pretty sure I have never tried eggnog. Anything beats store bought so I am sure your family and guests will be pleased!
  3. I like the looks of the rod and the specs. I have heard the feel is good but not great or what you would expect from a rod carrying that kind of a price tag. If you think about it post a review if you could please.
  4. Having Okafor to build around is good. He had a few rough off the court problems arise recently but he will figure it out. Losing is tough and makes everyone's fuse shorter. He is a once in a decade type of player from an offensive skill set. Rebounding and defense should come more in time. The Sixers really need to overhaul the 1-3 spots. Trades, draft, or free agency will be all they times to turn the tide. Not a Sixers can really just a Duke fan...
  5. Well, essentially all you will find is brand preference among users here or anywhere for that matter. Nothing is really factual just opinions supported by good and bad past experiences, word of mouth, and in your case a history of reel service and repair work by your reel tech. I would look for trends or ask him what reels seem to have what problems. For example the lower end Shimano reels binding issue. This same issue is a non issue for the Stradic and above reels. Also you can look at the TWS grooving on the Tatula reels. Problem is being handled by Daiwa with new TWS parts. Some reels have finishes that are more prone to showing wear marks while some have glossy finishes that hold up better. Gen 3 Revos have well documented problems but you won't find many issues with their round reels. *** Fishing and Okuka utilize break systems that I don't care for on the adjustment side of things. These are just a few examples. Certain brands excel at certain things and at certain price points. My point to you would be keep the reels you have with the exception of any reels like a lower end Shimano spinning reel. Good luck
  6. If fish are lethargic I prefer a paddle tail trailer slow rolled. Keitech and RI make several good choices.
  7. For added life and durability have your jigs wire tied or do it yourself and they will last forever. Most banded collars will rot over time and fall off. Same can be said about spinnerbaits.
  8. Yes. And for the that vary reason I do not do this either. However it probably looks nicer and more organized for the overly OCD guys.
  9. So you are going to let one reel "guro" sway your opinion? Um, ok.
  10. Here is my latest run...about 70 jigs. All jigs are either 3/8 or 1/2 and all heads are brush style. Too many colors to list but I would say probably well over 30 different colors though it would be hard to tell from the photo. These will be given as gifts to friends and few kept as well. Heads courtesy of Siebert Outdoors and skirts are Siebert, Boss, Dirty Jigs, and a few Do It. The collection itself is about 20 of the 3700 series boxes filled full of jigs. Never counted them but once winter sets in for good I will probably post more photos from the collection.
  11. I will try to post some pics by weeks end of early next week. It should be worth the wait for the jig guys. Waiting on some more to get here.
  12. Congrats on the new additions. The new Alphas reels with the SV spools are a very wise buy for the price.
  13. Somebody has to have the motherload?
  14. On the soft bait side their cross tail and I-shad are as good of drop shot baits you will find.
  15. Sorry, by "feel" I am referring to sensitivity of the line to transmit what is going on the other end. It sort of reminded me of Trilene XL/Seaguar Invisix. For referrence I will be only buying Tatsu and Sniper going forward. These two lines have what I look for in a flourocarbon and provide what I feel is the best combination of qualites: -Stretch -Sensitivity/Feel -Line management -Longevity -Knot strength -Bulk spool availability -Abrasin resistance for wood/rock/zebra mussles Other lines like Shooter for example, shine on the low stretch end and with feel but the line feels like bridge cable in terms of management and longevity. I can get a good year to even 2 years out of Sniper and Tatsu through light to moderate use and line conditioner. I am not trying to say Assassin is bad but I feel it would be ideally suited to reaction baits... Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jerkbaits, lipless, cranks, etc. At least how I fish, in the places I fish, and throwing what I do it wouldn't be a line I would seek out again as a 1st choice.
  16. It is a decent line. Casting and handling were good but I didn't think the line had that great of feel. For casting cranks and jerkbaits or reaction baits it would be a solid choice. For techniques involving feel I felt sniper was better. Plus I can't buy the assassin in bulk.
  17. Sniper, IMO by a wide margin.
  18. You must wash your hands after every fish. Even with light use my cork handled rods show some signs of dirt.
  19. You are on the right track. I do the same thing each year once the season is over. Magic Eraser for the cork handles. The foam handle rods I used warm water with a few sprays of 409 and an old tooth brush. For blank and guides I usually use a towel or a paper towel and for the solution it is usually a warm water, and a small amount of dish soap. Once clean I will dry off the blank and guides with a paper towel. I also inspect the guides to make sure they are in good shape. I have never applied any wax to the blank but may try a light coating of wax this year. If your cork handles are severely pitted and the pitting bothers you, you can use wood filler to fill the holes and then use some sand paper to smooth it out. A product like U40 cork sealant applied in 1 light coat helps prevent wear as well. Rod cleaning is often neglected in favor of reel maintenance. When fishing during heavy algae blooms and in lakes with heavy vegetation it often collects on the guides and starts to build up. This is the one aspect of rod maintenance that is NOT for cosmetic reasons but for me is something that needs to get done once a year.
  20. I got tired of the lack of quality info regarding flourocarbon lines and how they stack up against each other. To solve this problem I decided to do my own test by buying a bunch of popular choices and putting them up against each other for a season. Some of the lines used include the following: Seaguar Tatsu Seaguar Invisix Seaguar Abrisix Sunline Shooter Sunline Sniper Berkeley Trilene 100% P-Line Flourocarbon Without writing a book I will just say that going forward the only flourocarbon lines I will be buying will be Sniper and Tatsu. As far as mono goes I used to fish From end XL and big game quite a bit. Now I have been using Suffix Seige and will be trying Sunline Defier (green spool) this season. Of my casting rods and reels I would say 8 get flourocarbon, 3 get mono, 2 get braid, and 1 will get a hybrid line.
  21. Good call on the sticky and IMO long overdue. Same thing should be done for reels and to an extent line. Honestly there are only a few times a year where these types of threads can really change. One, is when a new rod line has came out that never existed before. Two, is when a rod line is revamped and changed. Three, if a rod line were to drop or go up drastically in price putting it into another price point. Rods are around for generally 2+ years and at times some may be close to 10+.
  22. Really just fish more. This year I had quite a few medical setbacks that cut my fishing time down. Hoping and praying 2016 brings better health and more fishing opportunities!
  23. I use chatterbaits far and away more in cold water anyways. Spring and fall are both great times for them. For trailer I prefer a paddletail style. Generally a slow and steady retrieve to make the blades thump and the tail kick.
  24. I use the traditional "stuff", however I want to try a float and fly when the water temps are in the high 30s and low 40s.
  25. I use the Dobyns Savy 734 for toads. Very addordable especially when on sale. I bought mine locally for $120.
