  1. Love how he pronounces the word carp - "Cawp"!
  2. I noticed the same thing. Should probably inform Jeremy Wade of River Monsters, this will be the destination of his next shoot!
  3. 100% spot on!
  4. ALX Maestro is the best I have used at that price point that isn't discontinued.
  5. Bluebasser86 makes some of the best products I have used. Absolutely love his chatterbaits!
  6. I would get some black/blue for night fishing or dirty water and some green pumpkin or watermelon for clear water.
  7. Take Goose52's advice. Seems like they are going for $300 on the low side and worn. Yours is very pristine. I would see if I could get on the higher side and would to get near $1000. If it doesn't move or the right buyer doestn see the least I would take is $750. With this reel being NIB, there is no reason why it wouldn't command a premium.
  8. Black. If you haven't tried it you need to. I was skeptical at first but now it is about the only color I use.
  9. I usually don't mess with new reels. Like others, I fish them first and see how they preform. If something does not seem right or I am not happy with the results they either get sent back for an exchange or serviced hoping this will fix the issue. Sometimes I will flush and lightly oil the bearings if I feel it is not casting all that well. My reels get serviced annually so if it doesn't get attention then it will in the off season.
  10. Don't care for the new site. I think it looks too "moblish" while on the laptop. I also don't care for the Zoom feature which doesn't work for me. The old site seemed to be more user friendly and easier to navigate. Oh well, we are probably stuck with it...
  11. I apologize for the duplicate photo and dialogue in the above post. Since the forum upgrade it has been more of a chore to upload multiple pictures in one post for me. It also like to merge posts now as well. If one of the mods wants to clean it up to remove the duplicate dialogue and reel picture that would be much appreciated. If not, sorry guys, I tried
  12. Brayberry, I will try to send it to you via PM. I guess just about everything has been censored from this site.
  13. I think that the Siebert jigs are great combination of everything rolled into one jig. You have all the custom options for your jigs that you could ever want. Not too many if any places let you pick: Jig head color, skirt color, wire tie or rubber band, head style, hook style and type, as well as adding an eye on the swim jigs. Prices are about $3 to $4 a jig depending upon what options you select. You can also purchase his jig heads and buy whatever skirts you want if you are a picky about color. Mike is willing to go the extra mile to satisfy his customers and make exactly what you are looking for. If you have any questions or don't see something that you like send him a PM or email him. He will take care of you... I have over 1000 jigs in my collection. I have bought at least a few from about every manufacturer. I can tell you that a good chunk of what I have left is Sieberts. Really fond of the brush jigs with the owner deep throat hooks. Good luck in your quest for the 'right" jig.
  14. Just got another 50 series Shimano. The Alde 50mg. Just need to figure out a rod and perhaps a special spool for it.
  15. Looks like something for Raider!
  16. I am not a St Croix guy so I would pick the Dobyns Extreme in the 2 powered length of your choice. The new HP series, features Fuji guides and new blank with better feel over the previous generation rods. The Dobyns family members are very friendly and willing to help you pick the rod and will be there to assist with any warranty claim should you need it. St Croix has great warranty support for that matter to I just don't care for them.
  17. A medium/moderate casting rod is interesting piece. It would seem to be more of a light cranking rod? Is that sort of what you were thinking about using it for. I like your other choices but I am not sure about this one? I am not sure what casting rods and reels would be good choices to build a $150 casting combo, but I can tell you that for about $60 you can get the Phfleuger President spinning reel. Perhaps if you are patient, and don't mind used, you can score some nice pieces from the flee market here. It would help stretch the qualify of the gear you get a bit more to where reels with aluminum frames and such come into the budget a bit more.
  18. Nice rig. If you don't already own Rod Gloves and Some reel covers for all that $ sitting on the deck you may want to get some. For the small investment, they can help solve the boat rash issue. Another suggestion would be to buy a "butt seat" for you to use/lean against while running the trolling motor. Just a few friendly thoughts/observations...
  19. Not sure if you stumbled across this article or not but it may be worth a read. http://www.***/articles/senko-gary.shtml
  20. If you are referring to the Gary Yamamoto Senkos in the 5 inch size they are 3/8 oz bait. There is a fair amount of plastic there, so I generally rig them on 4/0 EWG hook, though I have used 3/0 and 5/0. For rods I use a Medium Heavy casting or a Medium spinning. For line I like 12# Tatsu. For a hook set, I use the same type of swing I do on my jigs and texas rigged plastics...straight up and cross their eyes!
  21. Heckuva of catch, and a fairy rod to boot!
  22. They have held up fine for me while using 3/8 oz Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits in that range. The aluminum frame is nice to dampen the thump of the blades over something like Zaion or Magnesium. The 6:4.1 gears are a great in between ratio as well.
  23. Sounds like you should change your user name to "fishinginthehood"
  24. Might help to specify what model Mojo and weight lure you are trying to throw. Could be too light of lure for too powerful of a rod.
  25. Sounds like you need spool tension spacers for your cast control cap. Your current ones are either worn or missing. They are about $.99 a piece online.
