  1. Skip both and get the newest MGL and call it a day. IMO superior to both.
  2. I would say buy a $100 rod and a $100 reel and use the difference on jigs!
  3. Love me some whiskey/bourbon! Right now on a whiskey sour kick.
  4. About 2-3x the cost of the most mono lines out there but IMO it is truly supreme for all attributes that you want in a mono. Little memory, very good castability, small diameter, good not strength, and pretty strong.
  5. Well, not anyone. Only those that know the secret handshake or whose first name starts with "J".
  6. This is the line you want IMO. I don't believe there is a mono line that compare. It practically casts like braid. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Sunline_Shooter_Defier_Nylon_Monofilament/descpage-SLSD.html
  7. There are only a few priced at $6.99. Most are $4.99 finished or $3.99 raw. Take a peak at their website as it appears they have updated the pricing on these.
  8. Anyone try these yet. I know they are fairly new and not all that well known like their hardbaits. I know there are a few guys on here that like their hardbaits as do I but I am hoping someone has tried their jigs. They feature a screw lock keeper which is something that I haven't used before. The allure to me is the fact that the trailer keeper design will keep the trailers from ripping as quickly. For the record I am a bit of jig fanatic and have many jigs including many dozen Siebert jigs. Just wanted to see what sort of feedback anyone had on these other than they look nice.
  9. I would get the UMBX or K2. The Recon is a nice blank but it is the most moderate of the bunch. The K2 will be the most pricey, the lightest and the most sensitive.
  10. Perfect time to trade in those non Daiwa and Shimano reels for some Shimanos and Daiwas
  11. Darren - You can always speed up the 50 platform reels with a few different gear options. They will accept gears from the Core (7:1) and from the Brenious (7:7.1). I have swapped both of these gears sets with no issues just to speed up the stock 6:4.1 in a few of my 50 series reels.
  12. Looks good, I will probably order 5
  13. The Helios rods are quite nice and very competitive at their respective price point. The other Okuma rods are solid but not my favorite.
  14. Put in an order to 6th Sense to sample some of their devine swim jigs. Also an order to LockJaw custom jigs. Both of these companies rave about their jigs ability to keep trailers from rippling quickly due to the screw lock feature. Will post some photos when I get them but they do look purdy.
  15. Happy late birthday Jeff! I rarely check on the everything else forum...
  16. The GLX came just came out not too long ago. From all accounts they are more balanced than the NRX rods, have full handles on a few models, no recoil guides and the sensitivity is just under a NRX for about a hundred +/- less. The rods haven't been out long enough to right them off as a failure from a sales standpoint. And based upon the design you could have told Loomis engineers that the new GLX rod line was going to fail? Sounds like they should just hire you and the problem would be solved.
  17. Seibert makes a good jig and has tons of options from style, to skirt, and everything else. Mike is a top notch guy with good prices and excellent customer service. You may also want to look at Lockjawjigs, Northstar, Dirty jigs, or go to the 6th Sense website and look at the Devine swim jigs. I am a sucker for cool jigs that perform well. I haven't tried the Lockjaw or 6th sense but they are on my radar.
  18. Outstanding job! I need to start saving some pesos...
  19. A BPS sale to me is about as useful as a sale on high end purses. They just ain't what they used to be.
  20. How much do want to spend? You won't find much for under $150.
  21. No worries man. Kevin is a nice guy and a solid tech. I just wish he would have been more up front on turnaround time. It is just nice to have options...
  22. A real trooper for sure!
  23. Last I heard Kevin was out of the reel service business but a quick Google search shows his business is back up and running. I have used him before and waited 6 weeks to get my reels back. I personally would never send them there again.
  24. I don't dislike them I have just found them not to my liking. Right now I am exclusively using Daiwa and Shimano for all my casting reels.
