  1. Best team in the league showed it last night on the road......plain and simple. There is no debate right now. Now they need to get it together on offense and keep improving, get healthy and peak at the right time to make a run.
  2. I thought you said you primarily stand in the kayak but I may be wrong. If you are standing then get the rod you want as being in a kayak doesn't matter. I have never found a longer rod to be an issue and I fish with fly rods up to 9' in length.
  3. My dad used to say you have to hold your mouth right to catch fish..... One of the old school fly fishing books I read way back in the day talked about spooking fish and how they would walk to a pool in a small stream and just stand there and observe, quietly. This served two purposes, one was to see what activity was going on and two, allow any spooked or non-spooked fish to see you as part of the environment now. Of course that is harder to do than it is to say but it undoubtedly works for me on trout streams and when wade fishing smaller flows for brown bass.
  4. This reminds me of when I first was a customer service rep for a bank around 20 years ago. We were pushing for people to register online to reduce calls into the call center and I can't tell you how many people were like oh, I am not registering online then anyone can get my information. I always wanted to say, do you think that just because you aren't registered online that I have to go to our filing cabinet and get your info to review with you?
  5. Beautiful set up and you are gonna love it up there on the susky.
  6. I never understood the no Jet or tunnel rule once they said you have to use the same boat all season. You would have advantages in some lakes and disadvantages in others. Bottom line is who cares what they fish out of if they are catching and winning, right? I equate it to someone taking points off a test because they didn't write the date. Is that measuring mastery of the topic?
  7. All depends on the tour really. I am sure that there are some locals who win bigger tournaments on their home waters in smaller boats but I have never bothered to look.
  8. This is nothing new and has been going on for well over a decade. I turn off microphone access so the only targeted ads i get are if I am searching for soemthing which sets the algorithm in action. Of course then there are the random ones too that are always comical. I'll take targeted ads any day of the week if I am in the process of trying to purchase something. Many times they have deals and thigns that are solid.
  9. I like the x-raps and the shadow rap series. I carry lead tape with me so I can adjust characteristics while on the water. I have found the tape is easier to use than the dots and besides that, I use it for tyingflies as well.
  10. Very philosophical argument from a philosopher.....and one who doesn't believe that experiments are needed to define things and our feelings are a critical piece of making these determinations. This is all fine and probably good coffee conversation but it isn't science.
  11. I think most are probably recommended to store hull up but I may be wrong. I store mine on my trailer that has 3" PVC bunks to support all but about a foot on both ends. Has worked well for the last 5+ years and nothing more than a tightening of some straps and hooking it up and i am ready to go
  12. right now the air temps are too cold for me to think about fishing in the rain. now come summer time, as long as it isn't thundering, I will most likely head out unless it is absolutely dumping because no mater what gear you have, you wo't be comfortable all day. Then there is also having to sry out all your **** when you get home too....not my favorite thing to do
  13. So my son and I went to see his show this week and if you don't know, he is probably the only astro physicist that people actually recognize. He basically had abotu a 2 hour presentation that went about 2hr 30minutes and it was a great show. It is nice to see people who are highly educated in a field that is complicated and complex not have that I am smarter than you feeling. I would recommend if you are into that stuff that you go see his show, it is a good time.
  14. As a kid my dad took me on a guided trip with Bob Clouser and it got me hooked on smallie fishing and that river in particular. It is about a 4 hour one way trip for me but I wil ldo day trips up there when I have the time to do it. Totally worth the drive to know on any given day you can have multiple 18" plus fish and a chance at true giants.
  15. sounds like this type of post to me....
  16. all depends. My dad is friends with a guide out there and he usually gets the intel of where to go. Last time out we fished the Juniata about 6 miles up from where it dumps into the susky. Generally though anywhere from Duncannon upstream to Sunbury. We try and do a couple day overnight each summer but never got around to it this year where we stay on an island somewhere and get shuttled upriver by Blue Mountain outfitters. We both have motorized kayaks so on single day trips we just pick a spot and fish it well. That river has so much water to fish that you don't need but a mile or two for an entier day of fishing it seems. If I could convince the wife to move there, I would.
  17. A lot do actually. Most people don't look at the tag on the door jamb which says the recommended PSI though. My 2012 wrangler was 35psi recommended and the same is for my current vehicle which is a 2019 ford escape.
  18. I didn't ge to the susky but once this year and I absolutely love that place for real. Looks like you had a great time out and I am jealous.
  19. 60 degree water isn't super cold but at night with lower air temps it will not feel great for sure. SOrry someone had to lose their life over something that was probably preventable. I jsut hope others learn from their mistakes. I mean for me, 3 adults in a canoe is a lotas well, especially if they aren't accustom to being in one.
  20. Last place I would want to be is on someone else's boat and them be a crybaby little *****, which is exactly what he is doing. I'd find another place to fish either on foot or another person's boat and I would start saving for your own watercraft.
  21. I am along the same lines as far as simplification of things and people think I am crazy when I say more rods makes things easier, especially when they see 4 fly rods lol
  22. I wasn't aware these existed so maybe these would work? https://www.yakattack.us/tracpak-combo-kit-two-boxes-and-quick-release-base/
  23. Is it the steering triangle or the crimps you are using as that travel is not very much at all? Mine seems to hang on full throttle and turning hard but that is ok for my use. You could also go with a stick steer Also be careful when using those cables as they will eat through the plastic much more than you think. I use some wilderness systems rudder cord on mine and it is much smoother. I also see you went in hull but then where does it come out of the hull as that can cause an issue as well.
  24. Yeah I can see that, it is totally a preference kind of thing. I also imagine a person's girth is a factor when fishing seated and having a longer handle too.
  25. Same. been using them before they were available everywhere. I remember the sales person who used to handle my purchases sent me an email saying she was moving up in the company and now in marketing but she would still handle my requests and to email her if I had any questions or issues. I shave my head every other day and they hold up well but I am seeing all those head shavers lately so I may try one of the electric ones at some point.
