  1. I'll have to find the study but it basically said that there is no statistical difference on morning versus evening versus any other time of the day. Anecdotally speaking vast majority of my largest largemouth have been smack dab in the middle of the day and for smallies pretty much all have been mid day. This isn't to say that you won't catch them evening or morning but that it doesn't matter unless you want it to matter
  2. Buy a cover, i recommend carver and have used them for years. Also if storing long term and it has the cradles, I would swap out for some sort of bunks instead. I use 4" PVC pipe and store my kayak on the trailer year round and have no issues. Locking it up will keep honest people honest. Overall though, I would have no concerns about storing it on a trailer.
  3. I use one of the da bomb anchors with the chain paired up with an anchor wizard chute and crank. I have done all the other ways and since I have done this, no issues. I primarily fish rivers and if it isn't enough to hold me, I probably shouldn't be anchoring anyways.
  4. It is part of the gamesmanship of the sport. They play 45 minutes each half and have no time outs no breaks and minimal subs. So yes they flop but it is kind of an understood part of the game. There was a time it used to be way worse in the EPL and they started giving yellow cards for it. I did read one time that of all the major sports actual sports play soccer has the most action of any sport and it isn't even close. And that spray is ridiculous really, it is basically a concentrated ice pack with some pain reliever built in. I have used it when I played basketball and it is like instant ice pack rather than taking 20 minutes. Messi's ankle looked bad though last night for sure.
  5. Check your regs but a public lake is just that public and as long as you are in the water you are good to go. Most of the lakes I fish have houses all along the shore and I am legal in fishing wherever I want.
  6. Lakes are private unless managed by the state, or county they reside in and labeled as public. Lakes with public access points fall into this category. You can also go to the GIS in pretty much every county here in VA and see exactly who owns what. I frequent a slower moving swampy creek that is surrounded by private land and have been hassled by peopl hunting the land that I cannot be there which I know is false. I looked it up and it turns out that the majority of the water I fish is owned by the fed as protected wetlands and I would also surmise that the semi-permanent structures they put in place are not legal either. The GIS is also a great tool to see how wide the right of way is for any bridge that crosses a river or creek as it is public property and can be used for a primitive access. If they are not on the navigable list then it is listed as above. Nobody owns the water itself so you are free to float but technically trespassing if you get out and touch the ground. Most land owners are fine if they see you out wading in the creek itself but I always ask anyways if possible. Now to throw another wrinkle in it all, here in VA there are a few places where it is under the kings grant and they in fact do own the water itself as it travels in their property which is under ltitgation and has been for a long time. Bottom line for me is if you're questioning if it is public or proivate do your homework and find out what is the truth and ask permission or fish away. I am not an ask for forgiveness not permission person in these cases. To me it seems like people questioning the gray area kind of know the truth but want to find some loophole to use to fish an area. There is a lot of water out there so just go fish that instead.
  7. nope not gray at all in Virginia. The state labels waters that are deemed navigable and it was based on ability for commerce. Some rivers have parts that are deemed navigable and other parts are not.
  8. This isn't true at least here in Virginia and the other states I have fished in. A lake can be fully owned and not public, now rivers are different, except in a few cases, where the water is public but technically the land is owned by a private party unless it is a navigable water at which case it cannot be owned and is public up to the high water line.
  9. we can switch after the "shore lunch"
  10. i'd be willing to get a tandem kayak if you visit
  11. After reading this thread, I am glad I kayak fish.....as long as you are legal i'll fish with you once, depending how that goes ther emay or may not be another foray.
  12. Fishing from the bank is a lot different than from a kayak/jon boat. Opens up more areas that bank fishermen can't access.
  13. The one that makes a good sammich and likes wood.
  14. I am gonna get up there in the next month or so. I know the bassmaster kayak series has their event there the weekend of the 26th. Usually I have been up there 2-3 times by now...probably my favorite place to fish
  15. just get a ski rack and use sleeves and reel covers and be done. I ran that on my trailer for a long time before I went to primarily fly fishing and i couldn't get enough spread between the racks for 9' fly rods but they aorked great for conventional
  16. even better...cold brew with cold brew ice cubes is where its at Mission is good stuff. I have looked at their hats but since i went to wearing a hoodie this year I haven't given it much thought. I do like their socks.
  17. best thing I ever did for my kayak was get motor for it a few years back. I also primarily river fish and it is really nice to be able to motor upstream and cover way more water than when I was paddling upstream. I can do 5-6 miles easily then float back without needing a shuttle.
  18. Sage 7wt XP Sage Bass II LM TFO mangrove coast 8wt TFO Magnum 7wt Those are my normal but sometimes I will throw in a 3wt or 4 wt and chase large sunnies cause that is a blast. Oh, I flyfish primarily so.....
  19. it isn't the polyester you think of during old school disco days. I have worn the long sleeve ones for a while an dbought some of the hoodies this year and they are great. I got Simms and they are warmer than not wearing them but I will take the tradeoff for constant sun protection without having to spray or anything. I got mine on sale at sierra trading post and wish I bought more. I wear them even at my kids soccer games in the sun.
  20. Start looking into the kayak tournament fishing world if you want to see some creativity.
  21. A smallie moves to eat or to bang.....how far did you go to eat or bang someone? Therein lies your answer. They will move as far as they have to is the answer for the most part and that can be 20+ miles or 20 feet.
  22. A guy on here was an electronics guru, WayneP i think, he did a test with sunscreen and he didn't notive any difference.
  23. This guy is top notch too. https://susquehannafishingguide.com/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2Kt23L3BXmPlEBkY3G2hkVbfl_cCztIq7IEAK3ygLHY1QX1zv84wbqej4_aem_AcMO90m85HfiLEmIaR23Tf2fiVn3TnzRPHjXblSI3YS22JlSJlTy6VFo9YEAgzsxlQp3jxZ-qya1beY0BKF0sTY4
  24. I prefer to think of ways to get inside the box myself
