  1. that doesn't make sense though because apparently the overflow parking can accommodate trailers as well. I park wherever I need to and have a kayak and a trailer. And think we found one of the people I mentioned in my post and actually others did too....I don't mind walking if I need to and having boat and trailer shouldn't mean you can park closer.
  2. honestly though why should you having a boat and trailer mean you should get to park closer if I got there earlier than you did.
  3. I have seen schools of baitfish on mine that were no more than 2-3" and i could see the individual marks on my side imaging. This is on a first generation Humminbird helix 5
  4. check the regs on those rivers and specifically where you will be fishing as some of those rivers mentioned have special regs and I know the rapidan does see some game warden presence. Majority of the trout areas you mentioned a kayak wouldn't be possible to use.
  5. What is interesting to me is catching fish so no, if i am nailing it on one bait why would I switch that up, doesn't make sense to me.
  6. People that don't think a kayak belongs on their water Other than that, I don't really see anything bad.
  7. I haven't used either but there is a lot of information out there on the bixpy and it is pretty underpowered for fishing kayaks from what I have read. It was high on my list when I was looking to motorize my kayak but it seemed to be geared more towards assited paddling situations and not stand alone motors.
  8. If i remember right that kayak isn't motorized per se but it does come pre wired to throw a motor on it easily. My preference will always be a good paddling kayak that you put a motor on rather than a kayak that is designed to be motorized. Kayaks that are designed to be motorized are pigs to paddle and not as efficient. my dad has the AP 136 and it is a good boat but it does depend on where you fish. I like to fish rivers and that motor isn't strong enough to maneuver rivers with much current or if they are able, they do it very slowly. That boat is also super heavy, as are many designed with a motor in mind, i think you need a trailer to make things easy. there are places on rivers that my dad couldn't go upstream but i could easily and on lakes i would be at 40% throttle while he was at full tilt. It doesn't paddle well either which may or may not be an issue. The spot lock is nice though for sure. I personally have an ATAK 120 set up with a NK180s motor. It allows me to paddle easily when needed and gets me almost 6 mph on lakes and motors upstream on rivers easily and then i can float back and have a easy to handle boat. Best advice after all that mess i posted is to go out and try them and think about all the other stuff you need, paddle, PFD kayak transportation etc...
  9. yup I do it 4-5 times a year at least. I leave my house around 3-4am on the water around 8 leave the water at dark and get home around midnight usually.
  10. It isn't bad at all really and for every one stump you see above the water there are probably 50 below. There is a reason there is a HP restriction and its for boater safety. With a trolling motor you will be fine if you are observant while moving spot to spot.
  11. I have lakes/rivers within 20 minutes and the majority are 45-90 minutes. I make a few trips a year that are about 4 hours one way as well. As long as my fishing time is longer than my drive time I am good.
  12. Rule of thumb is when creating 24V using two 12V you want the same type and same age of battery to prevent potential issues. I have always followed this rule of thumb and had no issues. Battery problems can vary from an inconvenience of no power when needed to creating a fire.
  13. You can't unsee what you saw so it doesn't really make sense to me to not fish a spot that someone else was on. Sure, you shouldn't go up on them and start fishing or maybe if it is a tournament you would leave it for them on the next day if it is a multi-day tournament but there is nothing wrong with checking out spots you see people on, it is more about being respectful of them while they are fishing.
  14. Snap no swivel and I take off the split ring.
  15. no torqeedo or me but i do have a NK180s and i leave it on for trailering. I fasten it down using the pull string on to a cleat then a strap through the mount over the top for the just in case factor.
  16. That lake definitely has more than wood the last time i was there a few years ago. I remember some grassbeds that were kind of deep up one of the arms. I am assuming you don't have a very large turnout because that is a pretty small lake really.
  17. Briery has a ton of different types of cover though and when I learned the primary cover to look for isn't the standing timber, I started doing way better out there. What lake?
  18. once water temps are near 60 i will wet wade if i choose not to take the kayak out.
  19. realistic craw baits always look cool but i have never done any better with them than other styles.
  20. People's minds would really be blown when they see people landing sharks, marlin etc....on dare i say Fly rods.
  21. And here i thought according to many on here catching big fish on spinning gear wasn't possible.....go figure.
  22. I am an educator and let me tell you....many have told me the same thing in regards to being an educator.
  23. wow another stereotype blown.....you wear shoes too???? ?????
  24. Being a kayak guy weight matters so I am also on the Ionic train. I have been using my 2-30ah wired to give me 24V for my motor for 2+ seasons now and zero complaints. I had them in a box originally but have since moved them under my seat and have had no issues. They are not the cheapest but they are good so far. When I first bought them I had some issues, my own ignorance really, i emailed and the sales manager called me on a sunday to talk me through what was happening and how to fix it because i mentioned i was going trip momday and he wanted to make sure i was good.
  25. Yup and TN residents not having high enough cognitive ability to understand what is being said here either.
