  1. Amazing what happens when people actually read the links they post...I mean it is the top paragraph pretty much on the link.
  2. This is a hilarious thread to me. You are all bent out of shape because you bought a cheap kayak and it performed like, well a cheap kayak. You then want a big box store to act like a mom & pop shop and take a return on a kayak you heavily modified. If you did a quick search on here you would have found tons of info on buying a kayak and probably me stating many many times to make zero modifications until you know what you want. Don't try and solve a problem you don't even have or solve a problem someone else has, which it sounds like you did. Put it up on Facebook marketplace and you will sell it in a couple hours if priced reasonably and then you can start saving for another more suitable kayak.
  3. My next boat will be a jet boat but I won't be getting rid of my kayak when I do as there are places and times on the river a kayak is just flat out better and more versatile, especially on a river like the susky
  4. I am not sure what the experts say but I agree with you on this one. Knots should always be tightened by oulling the tag end, not the mainline, whenever possible
  5. I have a cheap rechargable LED off amazon and it does great. I have the same one in UV as well for curing my fly tying resins and it works as good as any of the name brand ones for a fraction of the price.
  6. yeah trying working in elementary education as a male......
  7. Scenery sucks and so does the fishing so just go somewhere else.....?
  8. I am in a kayak but I do a fair bit of night fishing and I only have on what is required and use a red lens headlamp. You'd be surprised at how well your eyes adjust if you let them.
  9. Best part about this boat is that the technology will eventually trickle down to lower models and be more affordable should you decide to go that route. For me, I am in the if I am spending that much I am getting a boat category. My kayak is rigged for what I need it for though and I love it and it does a great job on the rivers here and the lakes. I do think it is ridiculous to have 2 motors on a kayak and I am 99% sure the KBF rules say 1 electric motor but I am sure if they get sponsor money they will adjust that rule to accommodate.
  10. I went with a different one entirely but did look at both of these when I got my trailer 6+ years ago and unless it has changed the Malone trailers were rated for max of 65MPH and i want to say the right on trailer was even less but again this was a while ago. This was a pretty big factor for me as I travel at least 3-4 trips a year that I will be towing my kayak on the highway for 3+ hours and being able to go 70+ with no concerns is very nice. It did make me pay more for a trailer but I also haven't had to do anything to it except rewire the lights in the last 6+ years.
  11. 10' is really short for a kayak on a lake or anywhere really. As far as the tracking, I have no idea if that kayak tracks well or not but my guess is no as it is only 10' and the shorter the kayak the more it wants to react to a paddle stroke combined with the hull design. Then there is paddling technique which is as important as anything. You do not want to use your arms to paddle but your torso. Do a search for Jeff Little on YouTube as he is an incredbile river angler and prior to joining torqeedo he was all paddle power. He has some great videos on paddling technique and maximizing efficiency. Bottom line is that kayak is probably gonna be ok for a little while but you will most likely upgrade to get a more fishing oriented kayak. I have been kayak fishing for 20+ years and the advancements in fishing kayaks is fantastic. There are quite a few kayak fishermen on here so feel free to post up some questions..
  12. Sounds like my friend when we went out on his dad's jon boat on an electric only lake. We use the trolling motor for a good mile or so and had a good old time. Then it stops working. He messes around with it can't get it to work. Cell service is spotty so he can't get a hold of his dad. He pulls out the lone paddle and paddles back to the ramp. We get there and cell service is a little better and his dad says, did you check the switch? He said theres a switch? Must have bumped the switch and turned it off.....turned it back on and good as new lol
  13. yup that is what mae me change to this unit.
  14. Do recalls expire per se or can you just ignore it till you need to address it?
  15. Fishing from a kayak doesn't offer any different problems than other types of boapts in a river. It is all about boat positioning and how you do that depends on the craft. I fish from a kayak and can fish pretty much any presentation I want, I just have to decide how i want to hold position.
  16. Death wobble was common on jeeps when they first went over to coil springs and people were lifting them without the knowledge of steering geometry. I'd go ahead and get it fixed.
  17. Yeah I use a cart 99% of the time even though I have a trailer. It is easier to take it off the trailer and load it up and take it down the ramp and allows me to launch off to the side usually as well.
  18. Unless they are dragging it up and down concrete boat ramps. I replace the keel on mine every few years as it is a wear item and replaceable.
  19. Having the right tool for the job makes it much easier. People scoff at havier weight rods but if that is what I need then that is what I am going to use. When I tell people i use what is the equivalent of like a 10/11 wt for bass i have been told oh i can do that with a 5,6,7wt.....my response is i am sure you can but I can promise you my day will be much easier because i have the right rod matched with the right fly. As far as throwing heavier streamers go the key is to not make the fly heavier but the line :). I started throwing a sink tip line a few years back and it is awesome and allows for a different mindset tying flies and creates a different sink than a traditionally weighted fly would.
  20. As far as trailer wiring goes it is always a challenge with all the abuse a trailer takes but bad ground or faulty connections are usually the first culprit. For me, if I don't find it relatively quickly I will take an afternoon and rewire it as then I know it will work and be done correctly and last for years to come. I recently did it on my 6+ year old kayak trailer and swapped out for LED lights as well and everything is good to go and now I don't have to worry if my lights work after I hit a bump or something.
  21. These types of comments are always baffling to me, even though they are said tongue in cheek. As a person who likes to cook more than I like to eat actually, I don't care how anyone eats their food. My wife is a medium well/well done kind of gal for everything from steaks to burgers and anything else in between. Over the years I have learned that it is way harder to cook something that is still juicy medium well/well done but it can be done for sure. I know for me I don't like pink in my burgers and they are just fine. I can go into the reasons why but I will save that for another time.
  22. I have been using the Sawyer Picardin non deet bug spray for years now and it works great. I do a decent amount of night fishing come summer time and this stuff does the job. It also has worked well to prevent ticks when I go fly fishing in areas with tall grass. And yes, I have had ticks in areas I wouldn't want to have again and it isn't fun. I walked through a nest or something before and pulled off no less than 30 of them. I am pretty ok with anything in the outdoors but I cannot stand ticks.
  23. I think mine weighs 6 and it does fine. I do have the chain version instead of their fuse version which adds a little weight as well. The key is having enough line out, more in heavier current and the times I wanted to use it and couldn't because of current too strong i probably shouldn't have been anchoring anyways.
