  1. True. A swim jig is basically a spinnerbait without the blades. Like to throw mine around thick grass. That New Gill color really looks nice! I also like the look of Bull Gill. Both look killer for spawn but I can't find any...
  2. I agree, replace the trebles, but no that's not too big. The funny part is reeling in a dink that tried to eat a bait almost as big as himself!
  3. Sounds like a great day! Wish I lived in Florida...
  4. Whatever rod you choose, try to hold it before you buy it. Sounds stupid but I would hate to spend that much money on a rod only to end up hating how it felt in hand. The rod might get awesome reviews online saying how comfortable and perfect it is but everyone has their preferences and yours might be different from the reviewers.
  5. Just some local ponds. Went out today and got nada; however this is fishing and who knows, could end up with a couple 5 lber's
  6. Cool! What did you catch them on?
  7. I use a palomar or double palomar knot for pretty much anything with Nanofil. Be careful though, that line likes to be tightened down a certain way and if it isn't a lot of times it will pull out.
  8. You might want to try some bluegill imitations as well. Bass hate bluegills in and around their bed during spawn because they are known to eat the eggs.
  9. I sent in a Shimano Chronarch that had a issue with the break cover not closing... they sent back a brand new one in a few days no questions asked. However it might vary under the warranty and I don't remember the SX warranty off the top of my head. Yes, I do have a SX on my punching setup but haven't gotten to use it yet because I got it last fall.. Feels nice though
  10. Every handle I own is on the left.
  11. Yes, I do. I haven't had a problem with the knots when I set the hook. Although many people prefer to put a just few feet of leader instead of half a spool's worth when conditions call for it... I might try this out in a couple months when the water starts to warm.
  12. Cool; when can I book my trip?
  13. I agree.
  14. Not sure, but I would look at your local tackle shops and see if they have any adds for one. If not, try to ask an employee. I did see a post on another topic of yours by a member named "Fishing in trees", and he said there was a bass club in your area called "Pony Express Bass Masters". Maybe try a search for them.
  15. If you are worried about the price and want to save cash, fill your spool half full with cheap mono and fill the rest with flouro of your choice. But yes I think it is worth it; I like Seaguar.
  16. Looks cool but is a bit pricey. I would like to hold one and see what it feels like but I don't see myself spending that much money on a reel.
  17. PQ, there seems to be a pattern appearing....
  18. Sounds like a deal if I ever heard one... Nice ride! Trying to talk my dad into buying a bass boat. If he agrees I can see a ton of yard work in my future... Have fun with it!
  19. Not sure if this was already mentioned or if you already knew this, but there is a program that GoPro made called "GoPro CineForm Studio". You can find it on GoPro's website for download, and it is also completely free. In this program you can put effects on your video, adjust the frame rate, put your video in very nice slow motion, etc. I played around with it a bit and it got the slow motion playing smooth as butter. It is a pretty simple program to use but there is a tutorial on it as well. Just a little tip in case anyone is interested. By the way, nice video!
  20. Thanks guys, will be heading to my local tackle shop to pick up a new toy soon.
  21. Well, it's about time to sink some more money on this weird, but so addictive, sport/hobby we have come to know as fishing. Really what I am looking for is your opinion on what rod I should buy next, because I can't choose . I plan to pair it with my 201e6, with a 6.5:1 ratio, which is spooled with 30lb braid (put it on without thinking in an effort to clean up space after the Christmas shopping). I either want a rod for open water jigs and c-rigs, or one for pitching and flipping light to medium cover. Not looking for any brand names or anything, but just the power, action, length, etc., that you would suggest for them. I don't have a problem pulling off the braid if you think it doesn't fit, but I might just use some that is on for backing. Thanks for your input.
  22. I had one down the road about 15 min away from me that I went into every so often but never more than once a month.Than about a year ago a Bass Pro Shops opened about a mile away from there (yippee ) and ran Gander out of business. Gander never had a lot of costumers in there at one point in time anyway. I do know one thing, the going out of business sale sure was nice. -DO
