  1. If i did not catch a 3 lb small mouth or a 6 lb largemouth, It was wasted time. Read extreme extreme sarcasm... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sarcasm
  2. Nice fish there kid, I was 50+ when i got my first 5 pound largemouth. How old are you?
  3. Need to see the water and whats in it. I would think there are many good places to try. Find the rocks, underwater structure, ledges or drops , weeds lilly pads and moving water thru channels as well as water inlets and outlets. If you can find the bait fish you will find the ones eating the baitfish. Temps have dropped a bit from a few weeks ago so that should help. big or small bass need --- food , oxygen and cover. Look for green weeds this time of year not dead or dying brown stuff. Good luck post some pics
  4. Is the line old? been sitting on a shelf for 5 years at the store before you bought it? Big fish !!!!!! Fish with teeth cutting the line? What type of line? Sharp guide or spot on the reel, or depending on the line you are using could be the knot slipping thru or if you tie fast knots with monofilant line you could be weakening the line at the knot. With mono line tie your knots slowly to keep friction and heat to a minimum. the heat and friction weakens the line. We find with braided line the knots will slip thru a little at a time especially if you are not using the correct knot. We always retie knots every hour or so especially with top water and fishing weedy or rocky areas. Even weeds will damage line a little bit at a time. Some will say that it is a waste of time and not needed, but it is my time and this is what i do. This is a fantastic site for helping to learn the correct or what the experts say is the best and correct knot for different types of line and doing different things. http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/ If you read thru Bass Resource i am sure there is a place to learn these knots also
  5. There are 3 shopping carts under water about 30 feet from shore at the far end . There is also one you can see 1/2 of it at the far end. There are a few old hockey goals under there too.
  6. Got the book will check it out, any help on where to fish it ? any fish in it?
  7. Any thoughts on how to get in? Has anyone fished it? I am not a resident of Amherst or Merrimack. and Big boat or Little boat or canoe ?
  8. The hubby says well put Mr J. It is a matter of preference and human nature. The best and biggest are the hardest to find and usually create the biggest smiles. However for many people catching 10 - 3 lbers is more fun than hoping for the big reward that may never come.
  9. Sometimes i like to just relax and sit but still take in the sun in the boat. Trolling gives me the opportunity to do just that. My dad likes to troll a lot, once you get well into your 70s you may understand which is why my dad like to troll. He cant cast like he could even 10 years ago but he has a passion for fishing. It is still a legal method of fishing... Now lets talk about banning the alabama and umbrella rigs even if it has just 1 hook on it and 6 teasers. My belief is that they should be illegal everywhere but it is still legal in some places therefore people have every right to use it where it is still legal. Others beleive they are fine some even with 5 or 7 hooks, We all have our opinions. Mine is ban them all, But if it is legal in your water go ahead and use it.
  10. There are several 7+ ladies in Nutts pond. Hubby believes there a some bigger grandmas in there. Carolina rigged 7 inch black/blue sparkling lizard. We fish it 3 or 4 times a year. Not big numbers but some good sized fish. It is small place and easy to find the drops with decent finder. The thick stuff under water all around the edge and i mean thick is a pain but you will find some girls chillin under there. We like this place early in the year, especially when we have very limited time to play. It gets a lot of bright sun and the water is pretty clear so try to keep the shadows to a minimum. Us old ladies are smart. We get wise to the tricks.
  11. There are some nice deep ladies at Nutts pond this time of year. They have been bigger in Horseshoe but are tough to find if you dont have the time to learn it. Nutts pond is much easier to fish and learn.
