  1. PQ's are legit. I have a Lew's Tourney Pro and a Smoke and I fish it just as much as those two. It's heavier than those two obviously but performs just as well. Dual Braking system for $80 is hard to beat.
  2. Same reel no issues. Sounds like just a random issue that can be resolved.
  3. Thanks for all the advice! Gonna try all that was listed and figure out what works best
  4. Anyone ever have any trouble with ribbit frogs flipping over on the retrieve? Im fishing them with braid and a 4/0 ewg hook, and about half of the time they flip over and cruise on their backside when I reel them in. This is annoying since I bought them for the color on the belly. Could it be the type of hook I'm using? Or possibly the braid size (30 lb). p.s. I have the smaller size ribbit frogs (if that maybe makes a difference)
  5. If it were my Tourney Pro or Smoke I'd send it to em in a heartbeat. If it were my Quantum Nitrous or Shimano Callisto, however, I don't think it would be worth it. So what I'm saying is no, I would not send the Pro Max in. It's your reel though and you'll be the one using it. It might be worth it to know for sure it is performing as well as it can possibly perform!
  6. I lost two in a stick filled pond the other day. One was the first time I'd ever thrown it. I always feel like i'll get bit when I fish them, just haven't been lucky with them lately.
  7. Thanks for the feedback everybody! I'm liking the idea of a MH/Fast somewhere around 7'. Seems like a good place to get the best walking action without giving up the backbone.
  8. I have a TP, and have fished weightless worms the majority of this spring, easily tossing them 30 yards or so with two centrifugal brakes on and the magnets set from 3 to 6. I have the spool tension set to where the worm and hook just barely fall. I have it paired with a Duckett 7' MH and it works great. Like Hi Salenity said, what are your settings, and what setup are you using?
  9. I caught my first hollow body frog fish two days ago, and for lack of a better term, I'm hooked. I was using a 7 foot medium heavy rod, and it seemed a little light for horsing the fish out of the weeds I was fishing in. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality 7 ft Heavy action rod? I don't want to break the bank, but I need something sturdy. I have a 7'6" Heavy but it requires a little more work than I would like to walk the frog using that length of rod. Plus I bank fish a lot and lugging that rod through some of the places I have to go is cumbersome at best. Any suggestions?
  10. You're so lucky. I had a honey hole where I am and now due to excessive social media exposure (pictures my teammates took of the bass they caught) everybody and their mother goes there. Guard that spot with your life!
  11. I'm trying P Line CX on a baitcasting setup because it was all I could find at my local shop. I'll definitely check out Yo Zuri and Izorline in the future though I've read a lot of good things about both recently. Thanks everybody!
  12. Looks like P Line is the way to go
  13. Could anyone offer some feedback on good experiences they've had with different brands of copoly line? I'm looking to try some out but I have zero experience with it. Any advice?
  14. Great write up. Some people take it way too personally when someone talks about one company being better than another. This was just one person's experience over the course of a long time, and they were impressed! Just take it for what it's worth, nobody is trying to make anyone change what they like!
  15. I appreciate the help. I'll give the ideas you guys mentioned a try. Thanks!
  16. I'm having trouble dialing in the ACS braking system on my Smoke. I'll be fine for one lure, and then can't make a cast without having to fix a backlash. It doesn't always happen on the lighter lures, either. I throw weightless worms fine, then backlash on a lipless crankbait. It's got me a bit confused. Any advice?
  17. I recently found a new pond to fish. Decent sized, but it doesn't have much visible cover or structure. There are some pockets of grass near the shoreline, and a few points and flats. I have been fishing there twice with no luck. I know there are bass there (some of decent size), but I can't get them to bite. The weather is just starting to warm here, and I've thrown everything from jerkbaits to weightless worms at them. Any advice?
  18. I know it's a very broad topic. Just wanted to see what the differences were in some angler's approaches to catching fish this time of year. Thanks guys!
  19. What's everyone's favorite baits to throw throughout the spring?? Brands, bait type, etc.. from pre-spawn through post spawn!
  20. I'm usually not a "homerun hitter" with the hooksets to begin with, so I'll probably go straight braid. Thanks everybody!
  21. Does anyone fish jigs with straight braid? I have a multipurpose setup with braid spooled and don't want to change out the line for one technique. Will my current idea of just using a leader of fluoro work?
  22. Great info. The only reason I don't go lighter is so I don't have to buy an entirely new spool of braid. I'm in college and on a budget. To me 30 lb. braid on a spinning setup is overkill for sure, but it's what I already have, so to save a little cash it'll work for now. I was just concerned that the line would be too much for the gear. Also, I'll definitely be using a leader for everything I'll fish with the setup.
