  1. My gen 3 STX has 2 brakes engaged with no mag assist, and the spool is set just to where there's no side to side play in the spool and I don't get back lashes. Same way with my gen 3 revo s.
  2. Good to know, since I'm horrible at tying any other knot. Thanks RW.
  3. The 7'MH set up is the swiss army knife of fishing. That set up can do it all.
  4. If you want some cheap, but QUALITY crank baits, go to www.themangler.com . Everyone who has seen mine has been very impressed. They run true, and the hooks aren't bad at all.
  5. Finally picked some Yo Zuri hybrid up, and I can't wait to see how it peforms. I know with regular fluoro, the palomar isn't recommended. But since this is a co polymer line, would it be ok to use it??
  6. Me and my fiancee' have separate checking accounts, and that's the way it will stay. She luckily never says a word when I spend money.
  7. The REVO S is an amazing reel. I have the new STX too, and honestly it's not $70 better than the S. The STX has the dual braking system so you can flip and pitch or make it your casting reel, but the S is just too good for the price for me to recommend the STX instead. I love both though.
  8. I bought a Tournament Choice bag from Academy for $30. Came with five big boxes, and plenty of storage for plastics or other goodies in side and end pouches. Also has a spot where you can put a spool of line and fill your reel up without the hassle. Works well and seems to be well built. I don't have a ton of stuff, so it's perfect for me.
  9. I own the new STX, and let me just say it's an amazing reel. Everything from casting to the retrieve is effortless. The dual braking system is nice as well, so it makes for a good casting reel AND a good reel for flipping and pitching.
  10. My new STX will flat out sling it, and that's with over lubed factory bearings. Cant wait to give them flush and see what it can do then.
  11. I'd go with a Gen 3 STX. From what I've heard, it has the best brake system out of all the reels, and you can get in a 6:4:1 all the way to an 8:1:1.
  12. That's bleeding gizzard shad. Another one of my favorites.
  13. Chartreuse baitfish, blue gill, and chili craw in the silent version are my favorites.
  14. I have the new S and new STX and I can't say enough about them. The STX flat out slings baits like you wouldn't believe. Crazy distance, light weight, awesome foam handles, and very smooth.
  15. The Shimano fan boy routine on these boards is wearing a tad thin with me. It's every thread nowadays on here.
  16. I agree with you. How can you not catch anything on their baits? Especially the red eye shad?
  17. Email Strike King and they will take care of you. I had 2 red eye shad that were split down the middle and they hooked me up big time.
  18. I don't have experience with that particular bait, but I own quite a few of the h20 Xpress lipless cranks and they are flat out QUALITY. They have nice VMC hooks, great paint jobs, and I've yet to find one that doesn't run true. I have no doubt you'll be pleased with them.
  19. I use what you use, but I think they would fit in a spinnerbait binder fine.
  20. I've wondered the same. I use Berkley reel oil and the stuff that comes with the Abu reels and really never noticed a huge difference between the two. I think it's just all marketing. Lucas makes quality stuff though, so why not??
  21. Red, black...whatever. I don't believe there is an advantage to either. Whatever is on sale for me.
  22. I looked at both, and decided that the STX was the way to go. That extra $100 for the premier I'm assuming comes from the ICVB IV brakes, weight savings, and the carbon fiber handle. To me, that wasn't worth the extra dough.
  23. I've had this lure forever and have never tried it. I think I bought it because it looked cool but I'm not sure what it is or when to fish it. Anyone know? Thanks.
