  1. Just wanted to see what everyone uses during the spring to land a boat load of bass.
  2. As much as I like Abu, DO NOT buy any of their micro guide rods unless you are in store and can inspect the rod in person. I bought a couple Veritas micro guide rods online, only to get them and have the guides all misaligned or the epoxy was cracked around them. This is the exact reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on a Villain micro guide yet, as no stores here have any to visually inspect. Never seen any standard guide rods with this issue.
  3. Does this stuff have any negative effect on the paint jobs of hard lures??
  4. You can get a Gen 3 STX on Amazon for around $160 right now. Revo S IMO is the best bang for the buck.
  5. I own more Grandebass plastics than all of my others combined. Great baits, especially the megatail rattlesnakes and mega claws. Love the Trophy Hunter color.
  6. Don't leave me hanging lol. I thought of changing out the hooks to #2s, but I also heard that lead wire wrapped around the hooks works, as well as lead tape. Just didn't know which would give me the best action, or affect the action of the lure the least.
  7. I have both a Gen 3 STX and a Gen 3 Revo S. FOR MY MONEY, you can't go wrong with the Revo S. That reel is just flat out awesome, and at $129 it's a steal. I love my STX as well, but I don't feel it's $70 better than the S. That's a testament to how great the new Revo line is.
  8. Okuma Trio. Best $50 I've ever spent. I used to fish nothing but Shimano spinning reels, but I took a chance on the Trio and I love it. Great, great reel.
  9. I understand that, but the equipment doesn't make you a good fisher man. It's nice to have the latest/greatest gear, but in this sport it's not mandatory and that's the beauty of it. KNOWLEDGE will catch way more fish than $500 set up will. I think everyone gets too caught up in seeing if they can feel a gnat land on the tip of the rod. I've used a Shakespeare Excursion before, and never lost fish because of it lacked some of these "high dollar features" other rods have. Calling this rod or that rod a "starter" or "budget" rod really gives me a good laugh sometimes.
  10. Yeah but some people act like a $50 rod is beneath them. Especially if it's a certain brand.
  11. I know Norman makes a suspending model, but I have quite a few of the regular kind that I would to have suspend. What's the best way to do this??
  12. Colors of the Scatter Rap along with styles found here http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:cOsA4cgddaIJ:www.pitmancreek.com/images/files/PDF%2520Documents/2013%2520PreBook%2520Rapala%2520ScatterRap-dealer.pdf+rapala+scatter+rap&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
  13. Amazon carries megastrike stuff much to my amazement. If you are an Amazon Prime member you get 2 day shipping for free.
  14. Best for me may not be best for you. Just shop around.
  15. Here's what the fuss is about I assume http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Rapala-X-Rap-CountDown/productDetail/NEW-Lures-for-2013/prod999901365203/cat120601#gridContainer Wonder if Rapala knows the beans got spilled?
  16. Amazing how if a rod isn't $200, on these boards it has very little use or is crap. Same way with reels. Stupid.
  17. The Revo Shop sounded like a good idea to me at the the time, but then I saw the prices on the stuff. It's just insane. Has anyone bought anything from there? I feel Abu really dropped the ball with this idea by not making their prices reasonable.
  18. I fish Douglas Lake in TN. Even some of the pros had trouble fishing here last May. The water levels are up and down, up and down. TVA just won't leave it alone for 5 seconds, which really screws up the fishing here. That being said, I finally found my groove when fishing here. It just took time. I still get skunked here and there, but it helps me adapt and try new things to get the bite on.
  19. Me and my baby.
  20. I will sing the praises of the new Revo S from the mountain tops. That reel is flat out amazing. If the masses only knew how awesome it was, it would be the top seller in the Revo line. Love mine paired up with a 7" MH veritas micro guide. I really wish Abu would make it in a 7:1:1 though.
  21. Even though it's 50 bucks, it doesn't feel or fish like a "budget" rod. IMO, it's on par with my 1st gen Vendetta, only without the anodized bits.
  22. Billy Mays??? Is that you???
  23. You can't beat a pair of Oakleys. I have a polarized pair of Batwolfs, and man do I love those when I go fishing. They go for $250 though, so not exactly on the cheap side.
  24. I wonder if Satan knows someone is selling his rod on eBay??
  25. The Okuma Trio 30s is the best value on the market IMO. It's light weight, has an awesome drag, looks and fishes great, and it's buttery smooth. Not sure why Okuma products aren't more popular than what they are. I picked up my Trio for around $50, and it's the best $50 I've spent in a long time. Can't say enough about that reel.
