I only use Xcalibur lipless cranks, and only buy them when they are on sale. The XR50s and XRK50s are nice, but IMO Red Eye Shad are superior fish catchers. xcalibur's oxbow color is a winner though. Wish SK would make a Red Eye in that.
In the winter I've actually forgone the use of jerkbaits altogether. Now I will use a shallow running crank with a suspend dot on it. I mainly do this because I suck at working a jerk bait lol. Works great though.
This is what I thought too out here on Douglas Lake, but I couldn't buy a bite on a chatterbait. Toss a spinnerbait especially at night and you'll hook up. That's my goal this year. To bag my first chatterbait fish.
I use a 7' MH-moderate crucial. It is rated to 1oz. Great rod. I've yet to lose a fish and that's with the stock hooks on SK lures that everyone seems to hate. I use 6XDs and 1/2oz lipless cranks with 0 issues. I love my cranking rod.
This. Long lining is what we do here on Douglas in the summer. You can also use a Boo Rig to help get your cranks down deeper or even a big split shot about a foot up your line from the lure.
Longest I've ever fished was around 14 hours. When we got off the boat, it felt like I still out on the water for a few hours afterwards. Now my average is around 5-7 hours, though with work being a PITA I haven't been in weeks. Killing me.
You mean to tell me it's a holiday and no one was on the internet that could answer your question because they were cooking out and spending time enjoying life? Shame on us...
I have two pair of Oakleys that are polarized, and love them. Well worth the money. My Flak Jackets I use when it's hot out since they are a smaller frame, and use my Batwolf glasses when it's cooler or windy since they shield more of my face and eyes.
