  1. I see these in the bps bargain bin all the time. Still $10.99 though so I haven't tried them. Kinda gimmicky if you ask me.
  2. If I find the 1/8oz jig heads make the rig too heavy, I'm gonna replace them with 3/o hooks. The weight of the head on the ultra light and the 3in magic shad I have on it should be enough weight.
  3. The tension pad is supposed to have a dot of oil on it?
  4. I just bought one today. I got those black 1/8oz yum jig heads. Gonna use some lft live magic shad and see how they do. How do I bend this Thing out to where it should be? Can someone post a pic of what it should look like?
  5. Ok well at our lake they don't. Lol. But then again, our lake doesnt allow success with very many lures anyway.
  6. No way I'd drop $130 on that over a Revo S. It doesn't look like a bad reel, but nah.
  7. One piece of advice when dealing with the MAX reels, is to not believe those that say they don't last, or are junk. They are quality, value priced reels in every sense. I've since upgraded to a Gen 3 S, SX, and STX, but my little Black Max is still kicking and just as smooth as it was when I bought it. I have it stuck back for my 13 year old daughter to use this summer.
  8. With the S, you can cast sloppy all you want. That's why I like the S and especially the STX. They are very forgiving. I have a new SX on the way, so we will see if I can get it dialed in as good as my old Black Max 2 was. If I can, then I'll be good to go but centrifugal brakes are just too hard to beat.
  9. I bought a gen 3 Revo SX, a 7" MH Vendetta, 3 packs of Yum soft plastics, and 3 sets of reel grips. Oh, and a box of Gobstoppers.
  10. Whats the best set up for a MH rod? Jig head size and bait size? I wanna keep it within 1oz, with 3/4oz being ideal if I can get a set up that light.
  11. Agreed. I have an Abu sweat shirt I got as part of their promo for buying a rod and reel, but that's it. And a BPS hat, but I don't wear fishing jerseys. That's silly.
  12. Jerkbaits don't work worth a d**n in stained water.
  13. Sometimes at Walmart you can find Dingers in the bargain bin for $1.49 a pack. I usually buy up all I see. Some are covered in salt and others aren't.
  14. I have a $30 coleman rain suit I got from wally world. Works great for me.
  15. The S' casting distance is crazy right outta the box. If it's drastically better with the ceramic bearings, I may order one set for my S and one set for my STX.
  16. People are pretty intimidated with using a bait caster, because many used them years ago when they weren't as user friendly. Today's reels with centrifugal or dual braking systems are nearly fool proof. That being said, I'm still trying to master mag only reels lol.
  17. Just a heads up for all of my fellow bait monkey sufferers out there. Just ordered a new Revo SX and Vendetta along with a few other things I probably shouldn't have, but this deal is just too good to pass up. They revised it this year, so you initially only get charged 1/6 of the purchase price. No more authorizing 3 payments like they used to so it's gotten even better. Have fun.
  18. You can't go wrong with the Black Max 2. I still have mine, and it's still just as smooth as the day I got it. FWIW, it seems the Silver Max has the most issues out of the whole Max line up according to reviews.
  19. There's a huge senko thread that's pinned to the top of the fishing tackle board. Helped Me immensely.
  20. If you can live with mag brakes then I say go for the sx. I have the s and stx and am thinking hard about getting an sx myself. No issues with any of my revos though.
  21. I was looking forward to these, but my lake is just too murky to effectively use the ones I have. May snag one before I go to Dale Hollow though.
  22. I have the new S and STX, and really like them both due to the fact that have centrifugal brakes/dual braking systems. In the past, I have disliked mag only reels which stemmed from my struggles with getting my Gen 2 SX dialed in. I know the brake system on the Gen 3 isn't the same as the Gen 2, so maybe it's easier to dial in, as my Black Max 2 has the same system and is easy for me to use. That being said, I have really had my eye on the new SX to add to my arsenal but I wanna know what the consensus is on it before I pull the trigger. How easy is it to get dialed in compared to the Gen 2 sx? Thanks.
  23. I fished with mine extensively yesterday again, and even though I like my STX a tad more, there's just no denying that the S is an amazing reel. The casting distance is just crazy, and it's smooth as can be. When the wind picked up, fine tuning the STX with the mag brakes was invaluable and allowed me to throw baits I would've had a hard time throwing with my S. You really can't go wrong with either, but the STX is more versatile.
  24. Agreed. That dude was annoying to no end. Hopefully he had knee pads for all of his Shimano worshiping. Maybe IRL he's a good guy though.
  25. I need some smoke in 10 or 12#. I bought some 10# clear, treated it with KVD LnL, and I love this stuff.
